I’m glad I just saw this; I germinated my seed under a grow light, one of the two began spouting but I fertilized it too early; So I took it back out and am letting it sit longer out of direct sunlight, that should germinate it better .. ? Perfect video, it helped me a lot. My little mango seed started to get roots 😊. I have a question, how often is it watered? Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I don't speak English. 😄
Hello! Thank you! Check once every 7-10 days if the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry to touch, water. Since the bag help retain moisture you may not have to water that often.

Hi Make sure to leave the plastic bag ajar to allow verntilation. Mangoes are a tropical plant and need warmth and full sun, 6 + hours, more is better.
I am in the process of sprouting some mango and avocado seeds and I will say that doing this with wet untreated sphagnum Moss but I am sure that any Moss will do, works much faster than soil. I use the clear plastic produce bags from the supermarket.
For a successfull sprout without mold, use surround wrap since it is not biodegradable. Paper towels attract mold. Place the seed in a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water before placing it in a ziploc bag. Nest the seed in the rolled suround wrap and add some water. The success rate on this 💯

I've been germinating a mango seed for about 5 weeks now. It hasn't turned green, but it does have a cotyledon leaf and two roots that are starting to emerge. They're really small. I'm kind of surprised that it sprouted at all. I kept the seed sealed in the bag for the first 3-4 weeks. Maybe it survived because I replaced the paper towel every few days so it wouldn't get moldy and that added new air into the bag. Plus, it's winter where I am right now, and I had to take it with me on a two-day road trip to a more northern part of my country over the holidays. I'm planning to take it out of the bag next week.
If it’s warm you can slowly acclimate it outdoors in the course of seven days. Place it in a shady area the first three days. Expose to morning sunlight an hour to two each day till day seven .
@@aidankrienke Seems like it started to rot before I planted it... Now I managed to get the seed sprouted without the seed getting moist at all and have planted it so the seed pod is not touching the soil (I placed it on a rock)... We'll see how this turns out within couple of weeks from now...
I tried 3 of them. I did it the same way. They are rotting also? What am I doing wrong? No sprouts yet. They turned blue around the edges..( mold, or rot)
I accidentally forgot about my mango seed in the plastic bag with a moist paper towel in it.. behind my curtain and it already germinated. Its been a week and it has a small root coming out of it. Time to plant it i guess : )
@LearnToGrow1 sorry I’m deaf so using subtitles which I’m grateful for but they said cover the root but when you water the Root was uncovered? Can you confirm I’ve just started two shop bought - I’m not sure if they will grow - my concern is they will have been picked before seeds are viable. But it’s fun. Thank you
@My_Dawg_Is_My_Ears Hi! Yes, the root should be covered with soil after you plant the seed in a pot. I’d the roots are exposed they can dry up. Thanks for watching!
Hi Misilla, super useful. Pendleton here, so eastern side of the Pacific NW, got a couple of Mangos from Grocery Outlet and was wondering what to do with the pits. Will try to replicate your method and see if I can't get a good little (indoor) mango tree growing. Thanks!
Hello neighbor! I'm glad you found this helpful. I noted in the comments and description to remove the plastic after the seed germinates but also to leave it slightly open for airflow. Remove the plastic from the pot once the leaves emerge. You can also plant the seed directly in a pot of soil, then cover it with plastic with holes for airflow. I hope it works out well for you! Have a great weekend and thanks for watching! Misilla
Great technique. Just planted my 3rd! #1 ~8cm tall/ 4 tiny leaves. #2 ~4cm tall. 2 miniature leaves. #3 sprouting. Reviewed video to see when to remove bag. It's time!
Nice work! I actually found a sprouting avocado seed in the compost bin 3 months ago and it is currently growing indoors. You can root an avocado seed with the bottom submerged in water suspended with toothpicks. :) Thanks for watching!
@@LearnToGrow1 After several weeks i've chequed the seed, it was bead from the beginning😪. So it was never going to sprout. I'll try again next time i'll buy mangos. Hello this video is very helpful I'm trying to grow a mango tree for my home education lessons and researching how to do it as part of it when I cut open my mango I accidentally cut open the husk too so I ended up with the seed on the inside I had it in some water but wasn't sure what to do next so this was very helpful and I thank you for making this video
Yay! Good to hear! Try to vent out the plastic to get air flow in there to prevent mold growth. I took the plastic off after it started growing leaves.
@@LearnToGrow1 yeah, I'm gonna try every trick to help the saplings grow during these cold times. I actually had only two seeds out of two random fruits from a local store, and they both just started to grow. Thanks again for this simple yet effective technique!
@@LearnToGrow1 planted the second saplng to its first pot - it actually had a little stem trying to reach the sun, unlike the first one which had only a brown root when I planted it. The first one went into the pot about five days ago after approximately ten days of sitting in the plastic bag with the other, and now its stem has already popped out of the ground. I wonder what sort of light may help them developing during winter - will the standard blue&red grower's lamp be enough?
Hi That light should be fine, or you can use fluorescent light with 5500 to 6500 Kelvin color temperature. Most hardware store sell both LED and fluorescent. Thanks!
Leave the plastic sandwich bag slightly open to allow air circulation until the seed germinates. After Potting: Remove plastic once the leaves emerge.

Thank you for your great info. My seed sprouted and I have 4 leaves un curling just in 18 days!🙏😁💋
You are so welcome! That's awesome!
How to avoid rotting of the seed...?
Mine looked like this for some weeks and soon it's seed pod started to rot (I haven't been overwatering it)... :/
Thanks!
Is it rotting before or after you put it in soil?
@@aidankrienke
Seems like it started to rot before I planted it...
They turned blue around the edges..( mold, or rot)
thank you for your time and the info
You're welcome!
I accidentally forgot about my mango seed in the plastic bag with a moist paper towel in it.. behind my curtain and it already germinated. Its been a week and it has a small root coming out of it. Time to plant it i guess : )
Hope it's doing well!
Thank you for the short informative video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@LearnToGrow1 yeah I did!! Going to check out your other videos n see what other goodies you have :)
Thank you! I need to catch up and upload more videos ☺️
The final seed that “sprouted” wasn’t the same seed from the first one she presented.
I sprouted two seeds separately, so I might have mixed them up. Thanks for watching!
Will have a go myself-like a challenge!
Make sure you have an adult around.
*Me the only adult around* 🙄😢🙂😳... Where are you at Jesus?
😂
Thank you so much. It works great. Growing a plant at the moment.
Really brilliant thank you, I’m trying my first two mango seeds, I just started the germination start so please wish me luck, good luck to you too.
You're welcome Danny! Hope it's going well!
Misilla
thank you so much for this I'm going to plant mine in our aquaponics system and hopefully it will work
I love 🥭
Thank you very much. I love your method, it is 100% sucessful. I was trying to grow mango earlier, I tried another method and it died😢
Hi how is your plant doing?
@@LearnToGrow1 My mango is doing well and it still haven’t died yet and i hope it will have long life, thanks.
Thanks for the diy
You’re welcome!
How about watering the pot ? After you firt water it,then you put plastic over and when do you water next time?
Hi I check about every 7-10 days and touch 1-2 inches of the soil. If it’s dry I water.
Thank you. I hope that it will grow
Hi Thank you very much 🦋💗
You are so welcome ♥️
Great technique. Just planted my 3rd! #1 ~8cm tall/ 4 tiny leaves. #2 ~4cm tall. 2 miniature leaves. #3 sprouting. Reviewed video to see when to remove bag. It's time!
Nice work! I actually found a sprouting avocado seed in the compost bin 3 months ago and it is currently growing indoors. You can root an avocado seed with the bottom submerged in water suspended with toothpicks. :) Thanks for watching!
Thanks sk much. I just planted one (watched your video to learn how to). I hope it will work. 😊
Hope it's going well! :)
@@LearnToGrow1 After several weeks i've chequed the seed, it was bead from the beginning😪. So it was never going to sprout. I'll try again next time i'll buy mangos. But now I just planted jacaranda mimosifolia seeds in that same plant pot a week ago). Let see if it will sprout 🤞
Thanks for your valuable information😊😊😊
I'm here because of my modules Hehe
Thank you for your explanation
Hi i watered when the top inch of the soil felt dry to touch or about every 10 days or so.
Hi, Glad you found it helpful! I hope it grows well for you! Thanks for watching!
Hell, it's working.
Thank you!
Yay! Good to hear! Try to vent out the plastic to get air flow in there to prevent mold growth. I took the plastic off after it started growing leaves.
You’re welcome!
Thanks!
Nice and to the point
Thank you for watching!
Going to go open our mango seed with the kids today
Keep me posted! Thanks for watching !
sadly it got mold
Wow, that’s awesome!
Nice 🌞🍀
This will help me as i have seeds...
