    So as far as I can tell, all the members of Pearl Jam are still alive. I think you've confused them with Mother Love Bone, a band that included Stone Goddard and Jeff Ament but broke up after their lead singer died, freeing up both of them to eventually form PJ with Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready. Thankfully, they're all still alive and they deserve to be ;-)

    I can understand what Brenda went through, to a small extent. I'm adopted. My adoptive parents turned a blind eye to the fact that because of abuse from my birth parents, I had some substantial mental health issues. But in their eyes, to get counseling from a "shrink" was for crazies. What I needed was discipline, and lots of it. It wasn't until I became an adult that I was able to seek help. Turns out I have depression, anxiety and autism. I dont think I'll ever forgive them for denying me the help I so desperately needed. I can only imagine how much more successful my life would have turned out.

      I told my friends it was a stalkers song, I was absolutely convinced because everything in that song reminded me of my ex husband who tried to kill me n stalked me for 14yrs, jail didn't matter.. I still can't listen to that song, without checking my surroundings, even though he's long gone now..judge said he would get 10yrs next time.. regardless I pack protection now.. ironically, the song came on the radio Monday as I was at gas station and I looked to my left - he was in his truck looking at me!! Thank God my adult son was there with a 9mm on his hip..YAa he left after seeing that!!

A couple of them have been found one is presumed dead and another it was found out their mother killed her and buried her in the backyard. Possibly Mother Love Bone, since a couple of their members (Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament) helped found Pearl Jam after Andrew Wood died. The two of them were also in a band with Chris Cornell called Temple of the Dog, in between Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam. If you're a fan of grunge and haven't listened to either, I'd highly suggest it, especially MLB's song Man of Golden Words, which is where Chris got the name for his band with Stone and Jeff.

    People: it's obvious what, "Pumped up kicks" is about! This is about song that have back stories not everyone knows about.
    "Jeremy" came out when I was in 11th grade, there was no internet (yet we managed to survive by interacting with others), so we thought he'd shot up the classroom since Pearl Jam had to cut that from the video. We didn't know it was a real person who killed himself.

    • @Kimi_Khaos
      @Kimi_Khaos 4 года назад

      I, too, was in 11th grade when "Jeremy" was released and saw them play it live a few times over the next few years. I remember hearing the story, but as you said, no internet, so it was hard to get any details. I did read a story maybe a year or two ago from Jeremy's mother and also a fellow classmate who was there when he killed himself. Both were fairly angry about the song and the way it portrayed Jeremy. Also, the fact that Eddie Vedder never contacted the family because he felt that would be too intrusive yet proceeded to write lyrics about how Jeremy was essentially mistreated by his parents and violent himself. I get using artistic license, but the least he could've done is give them a heads up or spoken to someone who knew Jeremy personally to get a better idea of the kind of kid he was or what really happened, instead of basing it off one newspaper article and his own imagination. It hadn't been long since it'd happened when they released the song, so it was still really fresh with everyone involved. To talk that way about his parents so soon after they'd just lost their son was just shitty, in my opinion.

    My friends and I always called “Every Breath You Take” a creepy song. When the term “stalker” came into play....we started calling it “The Stalker Song”.

    Do people just not listen to lyrics anymore? These songs are straight up with what they're about. Some songs use metaphors for the darkness they refer to, but not these.

    Always thought "Diane" by Husker Du was incredibly creepy. A friend of the band (Diane) was abducted & murdered and the song is written from the perspective of the killer. Or "Spear & Magic Helmet" by The Gits. The song was written as a message to someone who had sexually assaulted a friend of hers by lead singer Mia Zapata. Sadly she herself was raped & murdered a few years later.

      @@alittlebitofkat6529 the person who could prove it (El Duce) wound up dead under very suspicious circumstances. He was found dead behind his house three days after admitting on camera to a documentarian that Courtney Love tried to pay him to kill Kurt. She also had the house it happened in torn down. She may not have pulled the trigger herself, but Courtney Love had something to do with Kurt's death.

      Kurt hated those that blamed his wife for things they thought they knew about her life and all these "fans" who blame Courtney for his death would be told to fck off by Kurt himself if he was to come back to life today. Look how he treated the lady from the magazine Vanity Fair.
      You're no real fan in his eyes, I'm sure of it.

    Brenda Spencers song was a classic when I was younger. I knew the story behind it being into true crime and all even back then. There's a lot of really dark songs with strange backstories - I could add a whole new list for you! I know I have one somewhere where it was an album made purely when one artist was homeless and drug addicted so he was recording it while completely wrecked on hard drugs. Lots of stumbling across his words and such. Hard to listen to, very out of character compared to older work. Need to dig that one up.

    Every Breathe You Take seems like a love song?!?!?!? Wha!!!! I'd take a pass on that Love. I Am Jeremy! King Jeremy The Wicked!!!! (edit) Jeremy performed art that day and of course his classmates still talk about it. Kurt was incredibly outspoken about women's rights and then you have his ole lady and her band Hole - Celebrity Skin. "Oh, Cinderella They Aren't Sluts Like You" Juxtaposition?!? I Hate Mondays! They lived in a house not an apartment, her father still lives there. There is a neighbour who does not give a shit what anyone else thinks about him huh?!?
