92% of PC Gamers Forget to Enable This
On all modern GPUs there's a setting which can increase performance substantially, but surprisingly it's usually off by default.
In order to turn it on just head to your BIOS
Go to the “Advanced” tab.
Search for “PCI Configuration”.
Enable “Above 4G Decoding” & “Resize-BAR Support”.
And now your PC should be giving you higher FPS in games that support it. So if you built or bought a new PC don’t forget…

Yes, but not all games benefit from this. Some games it will decrease your fps.
@benjy117 What is that exactly?
And how does it increase/decrease FPS in games?
I swear this guy just makes vids to be relevant,
turning this on while playing games that don’t support can significantly run slower
When I do this and disable cmos it stucks on the mobile screen then when I close and open it again it boots but it's annoying
How to do it on msi?

You can enable this on older generation of GPU's too without any issues.

while still DISABLED by DEFAULT since the GPU has no support
Above 4G decoding does actually increase performance, even for many older cards that don't have resizable bar. Resizable bar though only works on some of the 30 series cards and above.
@@ObakuZenCenter Yeah 4G decoding has been round for like a decade+ not ever seen a performance increase... nor decrease. As for resizable bar this depends on graphics card, motherboard and CPU support.
The RTX2080 I had before technically supports it because it's part of the PCI peg spec and so did the Ryzen 3900X and motherboard. Nvidia said nah, it might be because a BIOS update is needed on the graphics card and that's not really for n00bs.

I have the same card and by instinct I avoided enabling it.
This made me go through so many loops. Went to enable this in my bios. Found it kept removing my boot drives. Then I enabled csm with bar enabled and borked everything. I thought maybe my bios was bad so I ended up flashing it to the latest version. That didn't help, But then found that for resizable bar you need to use GPT format for booting with it enabled. So I guess I gotta update my OS now so I can enable that. I'll do it eventually when I reinstall windows someday.
However, the bios update did improve my 5950x performance by around 10% my bios revision must have had issues with the cpu
I had similar issue but it was my boot drive so I switch the boot drive froma 2.5 in sata drive to a nvme ssd
Using CSM is not a good idea. There are security risks, as well as less performance. Just convert the drive to GPT and use EUFI.
lol went through the same issue with the drive not being in GPT. There's a way to convert it but my system files were in another drive for some reason and it was all a big mess but finally got it working.
It’s a pain, there’s a few more settings to change in the UEFI like APIC mode 2x and that works only for newly installed system, so you have to enable that before installing Windows as far as I‘ve read about it.
Learned. But I enable it and tried for some time. Suttering came and I prefere use other settings now
This is great for Amd GPU, you can get a lot of performance with this, but with Nvidia it’s worst in some cases and when it’s supported the difference is irrelevant.

On by default on the last 5x AM5 builds I have done. I only had to enable EXPO and disable on board audio. SAM is enabled by default now on the 4 Gigabyte boards and 1 Asus board I have worked on.
How can enable for board msi ??
As someone who has tested the Resizable bar with Nvidia gpu I can 1000% assure you aren't missing out on any performance. In fact you lose performance by turning it on.
Does IGPU get benefits from resize BAR if enabled without a discrete GPU?
I don't think so its for dedicated gpu
I didn't know about it for years, but after enabling it, I get strange stutters, more like rubberbanding locally.
Make sure your m.2 ssd is up to it, with older pcie gen 3 I've seen it happen more often. I upgraded to a decent gen 4 one and it solved it

It depends. My current combo (R5 5600, RX 6800) performs consistently worse with resizable bar/SAM on. It's all full of stutters and relatively low GPU usage (70% on vs 98-99% off)
Its for nvidia 3000 or newer, in radeon from rx5000 series
Hmm, curious if my X-99 Deluxe even has the Bar option...thinking not. Find out tomorrow after work.

If you started your BIOS set-up with "load optimized defaults" it should automatically enable this & some other features.

What is biles
Can you do this without graphics card? I have ryzen 5 5600g
No. Re-bar only is supported on graphics cards, not apu
For all the experts here who have opinions about what A4GD does:
It allows the BIOS and OS to use memory address space above the 32-bit limit (4G) for hardware. This means that the system can allocate resources above the normal limit so the hardware can have a better chance of having its own unshared space and more space if needed. Thus reducing the amount of operations needed for a given function and increasing performance. This is important for things like resizable BAR because that feature allows the CPU to access the GPU’s entire frame buffer in a single operation (instead of just 256MB chunks). Giving hardware access to memory addresses above 4GB is necessary for Resizable BAR to work.
I lot of ppl will brick their potato’s if they do that’s why 😂 you gotta have a good mobo for this.
It's not on a gpu. It's on the motherboard and if it works depends on your cpu and gpu. How do u fail to tell this.

Pro tip : don't listen to this guy and do not open or change anything on the bios unless necessary, more often than not this will make your PC unstable.
Pro tip: dont listen to this guy either.
‘Don’t open BIOS or change any settings unless absolutely necessary’ is such poor advice.
Acting like BIOS is some kind of boogeyman doesn’t help anybody. The vast majority of modern day consumer-grade motherboards have some kind of ‘easy-mode’ which do a pretty great job of isolating the more advanced or dangerous options away from entry level users.
It goes without saying, if you don’t know what it does, don’t mess with it. While you shouldn’t be afraid of the BIOS, you do need to respect it. It’s a powerful tool that, when used properly, can definitely net you great gains; but start messing with things you’re not familiar with and you could very easily break something.
@@LCRich2001
Because in the bios so many things can go wrong depending on alot of factors and what works for someone's PC will brick yours and you could be one setting away from making your pc unstable or bricked so it's not worth it for the average user to risk it.
We have all seen hundreds of people go into endless cycles of instability and blue screen of deaths after a simple visit to the bios. So the average user shouldn't use it unless they have something they need to do there ( like enabling XMP to get actual ram speeds ) and have done their research if it will ruin their PC or not. otherwise changing any setting you don't fully understand what it does is very dangerous and will give you headaches from instability. Point is you can't and shouldn't experiment with anything in the bios, you only mess with what you fully understand. The average user won't know what does what in the bios, thus shouldn't use it if so...
Just reset ur BIOS its not that bad@@rdg665
@@rdg665 this is the exact point I was making. Your original blanket advice of “don’t touch BIOS unless it’s necessary” would mean nobody should go into BIOS to enable XMP, because it’s not necessary.
Better advice would be more like what you’re saying now: ‘not everyone has the same hardware’ ‘it’s very easy for things to go wrong in BIOS’ ‘don’t touch something without full knowledge of what it does’
Your first comment is just devoid of any sort of nuance. You put it plainly: don’t go into BIOS. That’s it… terrible advice.

Unhealthy video. It's off for a reason. It can start crashes, stability issues, make games run slower etc... This option is not for games or performance, its to help with resource allocation issues when using more than 1 devices on the PCIs.
Only if there is something already wrong with your system.
@@ObakuZenCenter No, this option is for users with multiple gpus or anything else using the PCIs. It does not relate to fps gaming boosts.
It’s used for gpu with vram more than 4gb because old algorhitm uses portions of data in 256mb/s between cpu and gpu, if you enable it, your cpu will gain access to your vram “through that bar” which will gain more fps because of the time data transfer between cpu and gpu are lowered. Stability issues seen only on nvidia because intel after multiple driver updates made their gpu stable with rebar on.
