Sasha and her friends literally being designed off of the Bratz dolls was a super fun reference that my friend pointed out to me in the cinema. Once you see it, it can't be unseen.
I love how Barbie's wardrobe also evolves & changes from beginning to end: she starts in a (literal) 'babydoll' dress with a bow in her hair, which gives off the vibe of a young girl, then she slowly moves into bell bottoms/pants (which reminds us a bit of female progression in history), and obviously a very mature, muted look by the end of the film!
Honorable mention: In the beginning of the film, if you look closely at the Barbie statue heads, one of the heads resembles Christie, one of Barbie’s longtime friends.
The first bratz movie tanked. I don’t think MGA will go through that again, half the reason the Barbie movie was a success was because several generations grew up with Barbie, where’s only 2000s kids grew up with bratz. That and Barbie is so ingrained in western culture that she is literally an American icon.
The Easter Egg everyone misses is the Virginia Wolf Quote on the Patriarchy that Ken is referencing when he says he thought there would be more horses in the Patriarchy.
I love how you’re actually questioning why there’s even an airport and where the plane is supposed going to 😂😂 Barbieland is a made up land that is ultimately about the child’s imagination And so while there will be certain things that mirror the real world there, clearly not everything featured is designed to make sense in an adult/rational way
Off topic, I love all of the Barbie fashions that Margot wore while promoting the film, I feel like she also could’ve worn the Pink Inspiration dress 🩷💞
@@entertainmentjunkie Cloe is blonde. They used the name Sasha for Gloria´s daughter because if they used Yasmin, it would mirror the name of the boss of MGA company and they didn´t want to do that.
