She's my favorite skier of all time but Lindsey's career consisted of much more risk and injuries. I think for Lindsey to get to 82 victories as a downhiller/Super G specialist keeps the discussion quite alive. Sure, Mikaela has the numbers, and if that's your yardstick, yes, she is undeniably the GOAT. That's perfectly legitimate. But there's still a case to be made for Lindsey.
She "avoids it"? Um, no. She chose to mix it in for a while and she's not doing it this season, by choice. She never has to race another downhill again if she doesn't want to.
These two are friends and LOVE whenever either does well as is typical in a HEALTHY competitive environment. No need for this drama. I learned about Mika back when she was in her young teens through my associations with a Colorado race coach. It's been an awesome ride
It's ironic, the people saying stop the hate, hate everybody who does'nt think like they do. Like foe instance it's OK to hate everyone wearing a red hat.
@@trwent You actually believe that losing part of the 2007 season, a major part of the 2013 season, as well as all of the 2014 season didn't affect the number of wins she could have had????Are you really that dense?
@@trwent: Your reading comprehension skills need some work, since I never said anything about her bravery or daring for always pushing the absolute limit. Really, try actually reading things before making irrelevant comments.
If you're going by numbers yes you're right. But there's still a strong case to be made for Lindsey. Her career was much more bad ass because she specialized in the speed events. Much more dangerous.
How long would Mikaela have been around if she specialized in the speed events like Lindsey? We will never know. Don't underestimate how bad ass Vonn was in her career. And I say this as a huge Shiffrin fan.
Mikaela won globes in 2 disciplines, Lindsey in 3 and 3 years in a row, Lindsey finished in top 3 in every discipline at the final season raking shiffrin didnt etc etc, so Lindsey way more of an all rounder than Shiffrin.
She only quit because of her knee. Now her knee is finally pain free and strong she wants a finale chapter. Vonn knows there’s no catching Shiffrin. But she can makes sure she’ll be the speed queen with a win. no matter how she performs, she walk away after giving her best. And it will be her best!
They are both champions, leave it alone, different styles, different strengths

@ Aren’t you nice
Never liked Vonn...Mikaela is phenomenal
There is no question that MS is a GOAT

Both amazing champions willing to take their talent to the upper limits and beyond.
She has not dominated downhill. She avoids it when possible. Pitting two great skiers against each other is nonsense.

Ingamar Stenmark opted out of Downhill to high of a risk for serious Injuries.

I would hope LV would get reality-based input prior to her reported 'return' to usst
She's always been kind of a whacko.
Must be tough. Best in the world, model good looks, rich.
Oh, but Lindsay has found the fountain of youth and will show that young woman who's the boss on the slopes!!
@@ww2remembered983 Lindsey.

Vonn could have hit the 100 win mark if she hadn't been injured so many times.
But to me, they both are simply fantastic.

It is 735pm Central Time I wish the best for Lindsey Vonn, but I am concerned about her injury history to ski in the Olympics again
Vonn won't be around long enough to wax shiffrins slats.
Mikaela's the GOAT no doubt. But, really, I didn't need a 10 min. mindless, slobber-fest about how good she is.

@@boxychubbo6922 Huh, what, Mikaela has downhill wins regularly does the downhill so I really don't know what you're talking about.
slobber-fest indeed! If he missed a spot on any cheek while doing all that ass kissing, I don't see it.

the irony....
Know when to say when....waste of a slot for younger upcoming athletes
WHY did you spell Lindsey Vonn's last name as "Vonns"?
Mikaela won globes in 2 disciplines, Lindsey in 3 and 3 years in a row, Lindsey finished in top 3 in every discipline at the final season raking shiffrin didnt etc etc, so Lindsey way more of an all rounder than Shiffrin.
Mikaela won globes in 3 disciplines, not 2
@ropany yes i was wrong, and she did it once, Lindsey did it 3 times
Foolish and a waste of time to try and pit Shiffrin and Vonn, against each other. They are teammates who only wish the best for each other. 🥸🥸🥸
They are both legendary. Love them both.

SHE'S FORTY!! I guess she thinks she can beat the dope testers.
