Great video, love her drive! One issue though with something her father said about “kids shouldn’t touch weights until HS”. Look… a weight is an object to generate force AGAINST. Once generated that force can then be stabilized/absorbed. This process mimics field sport movements… plyometrics is the extreme when it comes to force generation, stabilization/absorption.
Get rid of the stigma of kids lifting. If they can go on a track, or football field and expose themselves to the forces generated when we change direction/sprint/stop against the force of gravity then they NEED to be lifting sub-maximal loads (under proper supervision) to put them in the best position to prevent overloads.

When you're that small maybe lifting doesn't matter but it definitely makes a big difference I'd say even for a person who weighs just 120 pounds. If they can squat 200 pounds for a few reps with good speed it's going to make it a lot easier for them to carry themselves and to move fast and put force down. If you're 200+ pounds then yeah strong legs are a necessity and you don't get them just by running. You need to do squats.
