- A while ago I got a freeze dryer and this is a clip from when it was first unboxed.
The freeze dryer has been used in videos like: • Making astronaut ice c... and • Making food that lasts...

Nile talks about lab safety (Chemistry is Dangerous): • Chemistry is dangerous. - Наука
I think it's funny how many lab machines like this are very delicate and come with indicators on the package so the customer knows if it could have been damaged. Then here it is tilted 30 degrees and dropped 😂
Bet the instructions said; allow machine to sit in final location for 1 hour before applying power. Hope he filled the Vacuum pump with oil.
eh, it is sturdy enough to withstand that kind of shock. Had some equipment arrive in worse shape and it still worked, although it was dented a bit.
Granted if my understanding is correct, this is just a vaccum pump, and some sort of controllable heater. Might have a “cold finger” which could complicate things (cryocooler for that etc) but otherwise not too Fragile i *think*.
Still though not good to handle a nice piece of kit roughly.
One of the reasons instructions are so play-it-safe is to reduce potential user induced failures which the equipment was not tested/assured against. Why such big focus compared to mainstream products? I think it's because for a lot of these companies prestige is source of their income. Universities and research companies buy this equipment.
Study papers that are being produced by labs/unis rely on peer review process and using unknown/cheap/prone-to-failure brands might create bias in the reviewer eyes, questioning if the machine worked correctly, wasting time, energy on something that is not core focus. So Labs/Unis look for equipment that is prestigious and gives strong assurances that it will work as intended. Then, when failure does happen, unis/companies may've lost millions in research data and time so they won't just write off the cost, they likely have an insurance company that will cover some of it - Insurance companies will investigate and if they prove that manufacturer was at fault, they will demand the money from manufacturer. This creates also bad press not only immediate monetary loses. So money and prestige reasons.
Like "use it only on an even surface for proper leveling yadayada" may in reality not change much, of course you're putting it on sturdy table but if during investigation it is found it's even slightly uneven (and that likely is defined in the manual too), the manufacturer comes out clean.
The potential cost of risk is so great that it creates overpriced, very bureaucratic equipment.
"But this is from China, what do they care, they are authoritian and can't be sued hurrdurr" - China also has universities, very strong ones at that. They have 1.4billion people. Countless companies, labs, insurance companies and individuals. Their own market is so massive they absolutely need to have assurances to compete and they don't operate as a single hive mind.
@@MartinzW Valid point written VERY well! I didn't think of that, but it makes sense in hindsight it is essentially "Lawyer Speak" to prevent liability. Couldn't agree more on how wrong "othering" countries is, and that when they put their mind to it China can make good stuff.
The insanity of this man to use an axe to cut cables is why i come here
I mean, it cuts
Cables...? Error 404 Cables not found
I mean if you already have it out...
Nile needs to freeze dry an entire DQ Ice Cream Cake
Correct
Nigel
waltuh
He can’t do that, there will be nothing left ☁️
Nigel nice guy
“the foam is here for a reason”
never would’ve guessed, Nigel.
Hi fellow toilet 👋
“I should just cut this”
*grabs an axe*
He had a 50/50 chance of getting it right and he still knocked out the wrong side of the crate. he is a chemist, not a carpenter.
Never seen a chemist who's as buff as Nigel.
I love how in every large box unboxing, the 2 camera guys never helps
If he needed help more than the footage there wouldn't be 2 camera guys
That's because he's the camera guy.
Because he told them not to
I mean I think his brother comes over to help...Or watch him struggle, y'know, sibling things 😂
I can now see why all those TikTok girls were freaking out about Nigel's arms. Damn boi.
yeah me too
The face I made when Nile’s entire arm muscle structure was visible when he lifted that box…..I’m just saying…..
pause....
I was wondering if someone would be simping in the comments 😂
he has sleeper build 😈😈
He looks hot unboxing those 💀
Settle down
🤨
fr
I ran one like that, only it was designed for vaccine vials. It had a mechanism for seating the notched stoppers under vacuum. One time my boss instructed me to clean it out completely as we were drying strawberries.
Watch as famous chemistry RUclipsr NileRed jams an axe in his kneecap and uses a freeze dryer to stop the bleeding
I like how Nigel fairly careful when working with all these dangerous chemicals and yet is just swinging the axe towards his own legs to get the staples out of the box....so safe! :P
Everyone just standing around while he struggles to unbox it
Nile is secretly ripped its just for show 😂
We should buy Nigel a flannel lumberjack lab-coat to go with his universal axe
Feels like a checkered labcoat would just look like a bathrobe
@@BierBart12 good thinking old chap, we could save a fortune by stealing one from a really posh Scottish hotel.......
It's like he's opening his Christmas presents 😀 except with an axe.
This is the clumziest video I've seen in a while. Makes my teeth hurt. Love it! More unboxing heavy lab equipment please.
Love the dedication to using the hatchet
I really enjoy these videos man. Keep up the great work.
Gotta be honest, i love watching someone so wise in the ways of chemistry completely fail in the ways of opening a box, seriously a lot of that was the hard way.
Almost as good as his complete failures in baking and cooking
NileRed; the only chemist who uses an axe in a lab.
I never thought I would be triggered by someone disjointing a stapled joint in a direction perpendicular to the staples.
Last time I was this early, Nile Yellow was a thing.
I enjoy that there's multiple people, but Nigel must complete the unboxing solo.
Nilered!that is excellent footage. 😊
You’re Canadian, when I saw the axe I had 0 doubts it will work!
Nile's done a lot of dangerous things, I didn't think the one I'd be worried about most would involve an axe
I just had a half decent freeze dryer idea: try freeze drying then powederizing various foods, then see if you can reconstitute the food powder into something resembling the original
It was so cool . I really like to see you actually it is one of my dreams ✨️.
Thanks 😊 🙏
Not sure if I'm nore excited to see him cook. Or the normal nilered video
I have a thing to say about you dropping it a little. There is a refrigeration compressed in it and just dropping it a little can damage it also after lifting it up onto one side you need to leave it for around 30mins before plugging in because the oil in the compresser can go were it shouldn't and you can't compress a liquid.
The fun and entertainment this will bring
"Hey Nigel, do you want a pair of sciss-"
*A X E*
Remembered unboxing a very similar model same as from China and testing it with water which boiled below or close to 0 Celsius as far as I remember 😅 Was a shock initially back then but my professor made be realize that it is the vacuum that makes water boil at low temperatures. With the temperature drop I guess towards -20°C or around, water got frozen eventually of course.
I swear Nigel spends 5 minutes unboxing things and 20 minutes cleaning up later.
“What do we got in here? Phone phone phone phone” ah yes, AI is *so* scary rn…
And I thought artificial intelligence are supposed to be intelligence but turns out it can also be dumb sometimes.
I am ready to watch you unboxing some random stuff throwing things and on repeat
😌😌 Without any slightest guilt
Was waiting for the peel!
awww flawless
Flawless
I like how nilered open boxes with an axe. He’s a true Canadian
I never thought I would watch an unboxing using an axe
You need a series called Freeze Dried Live! 😂
You COULDN'T have opened that in a MORE Canadian way!
Well... could've used more maple syrup. 🍁
I just noticed that Nile is fucking buff when he pulled out that heavy part
Weakest chemist
Funny to see the machine being used before it was ever unboxed on the channel 😁
I expect a stream titled "freeze dried live" in the near future
more nilered content lets go
I didn't know this channel exists until now, I thought NileBlue is NileRed extra!
Nile is ready to start a homestead now!!!
Can you post the link to where you got it / what model it is please?
Time for another trip to Gigi's! Pointe-Claire represent
If you ever go on tour you need to call it "Freeze Dried Live"
0:55 THE ELUSIVE NILERED DOPPLEGANGER
yay new vid!
Thats very NileRed - "I should just cut this." *grabs nearest axe*
now on nilered what can i turn foam into and how many different things can i make
you NEED to try freeze drying Skittles and Saltwater Taffy it was amazing!
A hammer I understand. But an axe?
Thats another level.
Can you make video how to make methamphetamine, Prussian blue already made video how to make methylamine?
nilered is jacked
There is no sign of a handle with care on the box😂......
Missed the chance to become a certain scientist with a crowbar...
a time lapse is now mandatory
2 out of 3 videos on this channel so far nile plugs something in and it just starts and nile is like why?
There you go, Nile's weapon of murder would be an axe
What's with the Gore-Tex glove ?
they need to live stream something getting freeze dried on tiktok and make them some BANK
Did you get this bad bouy from Canadian Preparedness?
somebody get this man a pry bar lol
I wonder if 'scientz' in the box was on purpose, since ningbo seems like a randomly generated code
"the pump should be erected"
couldnt agree more
What's your next project, Nigel?
Looking pretty buff Nigel
2:29 "I should just cut this" *brings axe*
"I need to cut this"
Me: Okay he's going to use a knife, right?
Nigel: *Swings axe scarily close to himself*
That was the best word
You gonna start making dabs? I'd love to see you try your hand at making BHO diamonds.
holy forearms batman
we need a nilebrown again for shit like this times ten
so just how much did that unit cost?
A new freeze dryer?!?!? What does this freeze dryer do though???
Cause every mad scientist just happens to have a hatchet close by...
They make sure you have to destroy the box so you can't mail all the packing material back to them in it.
Let's get this freeze drier onto a tray ... nice.
Nice hiss.
Sometimes i wish i were a freeze dryer
3:41
Nile red and the chamber of coldness
Nile God bless you brother
what next? spray dryer?
One would think Nile was smart... But seeing him struggle with that box i am not so sure anymore.
yes
Love how the drill is on the table and the first go to for Nigel is "maybe the axe would work" 😂
Machine instructions unclear: ax no longer sharp.
Oh dear, I now have a Section 4.
why he has fancier freeze dryer than my university
New series will it freeze dry
NOT THE AXE 😭😭😭
0:49 That sounds expensive.
why i feel that he was like a child unboxing a gift
