I forget what brand/color I used back in '04 but it was a darker silver that wasn't matte or glossy and looked great on my orange rubber bumpered Midget and it held up great! I masked the tyres and painted them off of the car and it was a big improvement. I just ordered five new tyres and bands to go with them (which I have never replaced and is probably the reason for my frequent tube changes) so now the wheels will be painted inside and out and be good for another seventeen years! (Or more provided I can keep the gearbox oil and brake fluid off of them!)
I just gave my wheels a thorough cleaning (on the outside) and they would look better if I paint them, the number of the duplicolor will come in very handy, thanks.
One thing that I've seen that works is to take several 3x5 cars and tuck them in behind the lip of the rim in front of the tire. Then if you need more protection than that you can tape some newspaper on the outside edge of the note cards
in another video you mention diameter of a spline hub. 2.420 or something? And that the inner unsplined area is? Do mgb wires actually contact the spline over its total length?
Hi John. I have a 1974 1/2 MGB GT what size tires do I buy for it? I'm been watching your channel on how to rebuild it. I live around Detroit Mi and get over to Grand Rapids sometimes if I'm by you I would like to stop by. Thank you
John, When painting wire wheels should you protect the portion of the wheel that comes in contact with the hub and make sure you don't paint that? thanks!
Hello. Sorry for bothering. I'm from Russia.Be so kind as to tell me, is there any difference in mounting parts of wire wheels for Jaguars E-type, Triumps and MG MGB? Are they interchangable or not? I mean the so-called adpters and spinners. Sorry for my poor English. Appreciate it. Anthony.
This content is GOLDEN! Thank you!
I just had mine powder coated; they look great!

You can deflate the tyre and break the bead first. Then mask n spray up. Reinflate when you have finished.

another great way to keep paint off the tire is to get a cheap set of playing cards and push them into the bead of the tire all the way around.
Use a cheap deck of cards to protect the tires from the paint. All you gotta do is let the air out.
Instead of cardboard try using a deck of cards... Overlap them a bit and done!
Sarebbe opportuno che vi fosse la versionr anche in italisno grszie.carmine
powder coating or rattle can hmnn I think ill powder coat
Won’t the powder coat crack when you adjust the spokes though?
