I will be honest, I have never seen an AE86 with that color interior and I have had 3 AE86 (yes actual AE86 and not AE85) I also don't think the undercarriage is actually silver. it's always rust colored. actually, it's just rust. in fact the whole car is always rust. :P
fun fact. Alot of people mistake the interior to be brown and orange, but its actually burgundy and red from the factory. I understand the front seats as orange, thanks to sun fade lol. pet peeve wise, center console, shift boot and privacy cover should be black. Front bumper white lines are too thick and should not meet, they should line up with the side moulding and end with the front corner lights. Side mouldings should be white, and black above it. great work nonetheless!

Chuppacabbra1971 here. This car takes me back to when I was a kid in Puerto Rico. This was the very car my older cousin had and we take trips to the beach almost every day in the summer in this car. He bought the car while on deployment in Japan and had it brought back. Thanks for sharing the build and all the other builds this year. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

These kits are on my List too....
But why Not build a Base for the Kit, where you can fit the Power source and the Switch or maybe also a mp3 player and stuff?
I bought a 3d printer a year ago and desingh and print the Bases for my models like i want.... even for your gundams you will find a lot to print and make them even better...
But the most iconic Part from this ae86 is the engine.... so i am a little sad, that you build the kit without it 😥

I would start out with Revell Snap-Tite kits and then move onto more difficult car model kits. When I got my first Gundam kit I was blown away by how well everything fit and the fact that the instructions were in actual color instead of black and white. Bandai kits just have those qualities that make the kit that much easier to build.
Very cool build, gotta love the feeling of peeling back tape and seeing bleed everywhere :D

Otaku Builder Do you use a 3V coin cell ? I’m building one 1:24 scale and I was thinking in use a coin cell , but 3V is just for 1 single led light .So I don’t know how to connect all of them

Would have been neat if they made the actual licence plates for the car but that's my only minor gripe. Still, this looks fan-friggin-tastic
I think one of the Initial D model kits include a licence plate in it as a waterslide decal. It is an Aoshima model too
Aoshima made three versions of the glue kit, out of that two have the correct license plate numbers on it. Make sure to select kit #1 and #5 of the initial d series of cars.

I made a mistake: retraction. The aoshima #5 first stage car has the correct license plate number and the #6 second stage rebirth of the 86 also Carried the correct plates. Apologies to everyone and merry christmas.
Hi there. I have a question. Can I add some glue beneath the parts? I want to reinforce the parts because they are likely to crack as I turning. Or what's your solution ?
Does anyone which version of the aoishima kits features the retractable lights? I want to pick up one of these kits but theres like 6 versions of them and I can't even figure out what the differences are really.
