god I missed this game. I don't recognize many of the last skins and definitely never got Agamo's skin because you needed the Twisted metal save data on your memory card to unlock. Never got a memory card till yeaaaars into my PS2 gaming.
I would play this! Forget me! Everyone would play this! Put it on the Switch around Halloween time, maybe change the controls to add more options i.e more attacks, add maps, DLC characters and obviously up the graphics just a bit it doesn't even need to be full blown HD but everyone will love it either way! you're looking at 30 - 45 bucks "no DLC" 10 - 15 bucks for DLC.
I mean if it had more turtle features. But it might have had some inspiration from Gamera with it’s spikes. (Gamera could create spikes from it’s arms as weapons)

Ahead of its time, really. Unique movesets, stage interactions (UFO on Japanese map), picking up shit to throw, picking up other monsters to throw, 4 skins for each monster, and the list just goes on. Hidden gem that I wish more people heard of.

My grandpa's house was once a PS2 arcade club. I and other kids had alot of funs with this game. The best thing about this game is throwing oil trucks while screaming 'AN OIL TANKER FOR YOU!' at your opponent.

Just got the game with the new PlayStation plus premium! Instant nostalgia. I first got this game as a kid. I rented it so much from blockbuster that my mom just ended up buying it for me.
I feel like this game layed such a good foundation for a ever better sequel. If we got this more content and monsters along with each monster getting more unique and varied moves further diversifying them. I would cry tears of joy.
Man, I played the crap out of this as a kid. I had a demo of it on the Summer 2003 Jampack demo CD for the longest time. Then I found the full version at Cash Converters, and flipped my freaking LID. (Also, Kineticlops is a giant freaking Sith.)

This game was actually super hard and fun as fuck continuously I had hours of fun with my friends sometimes just laughing at different moves or aiming ultimates in a weird way I loved the Japanese robot and the electric eyeball guy but I was so young I never even beat the game before my copy eventually just got too scratched over time T.T
Of they had released the sequel during the early 2010s with better graphics and physics and online enabled, the sequel would easily be on par with other brawling games, like overwatch

me and my friend would kinda explore the levels, and sometimes just take some hits on each other, that or go into story mode

He's probably more inspired by the Marvel monsters from 50's comic books. Living elements were a fairly common archetype for them.
