Easy fit brake away cable replacement

  • A few weeks ago I replaced my worn brake away cable, this sort clip shows how I did this.

    Thanks Martin. I change my cable every year no matter what. I always carry a spare, which may also help someone out. I really enjoy your down to earth no nonsense vids. Keep up the good work. Thanks

      It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Looking back I should have cleaned all the muck off!! 👍

    thanks for this video, i've got the same crimp fitted to mine and i've been dreading trying to take it off as everyone keeps telling me to use an angle grinder but being on a storage site i cant, it's so thick i was thinking i'm never going to be able to cut right through it, but after watching your video i think i can at least get half way through which will weaken it enough to bend it. Thanks again for all of your very helpful videoes :D

      That’s what I did, cut through slightly to weaken it. The carabiner type are much easier to fit. Thanks for comments and watching, Martin

    Thanks for sharing. I wish I knew they were available with the karibina on when I changed mine. I bought one from Alko with the original crimp fitting. Pretty tough to close the loop, just about managed it. Cheers, Jeff

    The old cable was an AL-KO cable and you replaced it with a cheap one, is it holding up ok?

      it did the job, not got the van now though.
