  • Learn how to real starting procedures to start an aircraft engine. This method is used in starting most single engine piston aircraft. It's easy to start an aircraft engine once you know the startup procedure.
    This flight lesson is demonstrating the pilot procedures to follow as recommended by the "SACAA flight training manual". You should always refer to your aircraft pilot operating hand manual for best safety and emergency practices.

    *ROAMFRIES: After Start Checks
    R - RPM set to 1000rpm
    O - Oil & Temperatures in the green within 30 seconds
    A - Ammeter confirmed has positive charge
    M - Magneto dead cut check (confirm engine cuts out, set back to both)
    - Mixture lean for peak
    F- Flaps retract
    - Fuel selector value on
    - Fuel quantity and pressure confirmed
    R - Radios on
    I - Instruments checks and serviceable
    E- Electronics - Circuit breakers all in.
    S - Safety (Seat belts, hatches and harnesses all secured and surrounding area clear to taxi)
