Dennis Quaid...what an amazingly hot man. I remember and interview Bonnie did for this video and she said that she and Dennis were friends which is why he is in the video. She also said how disconcerting it was to have him grinning and leering at her through the whole thing. Since it makes me blush to watch the major flirting going on, and it wasn't even directed at me...I can only imagine what it feels like to have the full power of a Dennis Quaid flirt turned on you.
Bonnie and Bruce Hornsby have for years helped the less fortunate Blues musicians in the Deep South that many popular artists copied their music. They’ve fallen on hard times, but Bonnie and Bruce led efforts to help them financially when others did nothing. She’s a true humanitarian
@TheBonnieRaittFanInbox "How long have you been a fan.." Don't actually know how long it's been.. But _it was_ in the nick of time.. 😊 Wife and I both 74+ life-long musicians.. home rec, sound stuff etc.. Saw you out on the river near Sacramento way back. Part way into the set, you finally stopped, said along the lines of 'Guys -looking at _them!_ 'you know I really want to enjoy my music too.' Trust me folks. That crew'.. got a bunch* of heads turned back their way. * 'tech term.. :>)
Because they're friends and at the time he was a huge movie star and wanted to give her album a boost - and it worked. People watched for him and fell in love with her music.
I believe that Bonnie was doing her "comeback" [if you like that, check out Bonnie's version of "Angel from Montgomery"] album & Dennis was portraying Jerry Lee Lewis in the film "Great Balls of Fire". Dennis' movie & Bonnie's "Nick of Time" LP/CD were both released in 1989. Both brilliant, in my CP-riddled, lazy-eyed, [right-side] hemiplegic, half-spastic, hydrocephalic opinion!
I was backstage for Miss Raitt and James Taylor in Cincinnati. Miss Raitt was a total sweetheart and , unlike other artists, she came by and talked to myself and another guard. I didn't get to the concert that night, but I was there for the sound check and, wow, goosebumps. Thank you Miss Raitt. Many artists just walk on by. You didn't.
Bonnie said in an interview that Dennis Quaid "was the cutest guy she could think of for the video" or something along those lines. This is one of the vids I keep coming back to over the years.
I had this as a tape cassette and wore it out!! I played it all the time. Amazing how the lyrics and melody come right back even after not hearing these songs for a while. She was one of my absolute favorites.
I remember being a very young girl ans thinking Dennis Quaid was so handsome, he's still a looker even today.i thought the song was "let's give em something to talk about"...but it was this I'm blaring on a Saturday morning. Good morning from 39 year old Kristine in michigan. What has happened to young men? They are definately after our children that's for sure.
Was 12 when it first came out. Gave it a chance because of Quaid, I had seen Dreamscape and Innerspace several times. Stayed for the music and never looked back.
I was actually googling her, cause I just found out that this album was number 1 on the billboard charts the week when I was born, and I had no idea who she was 😂Gotta say, not bad at all, I like that this was the number 1 album at the time 😂 (thank God it wasn't Milli Vanilli haha 🤪)
2025 now. But I always come back to this video because of Dennis. That sly grim. All I can say is holy guacamole! Someone better turn on a fan or something - it's getting just a tad bit warm in here! 🔥
And speaking of Bonnie's guitar skills, my absolute FAVORITE of hers is "Love Me Like A Man" on the Road Tested double CD. OMG! I could (and probably have) listened to that all day and night. The entire double CD rocks, but the absolute best is her and the solo on Love Me Like A Man. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dennis Quaid was my major crush! He made my heart race! I saw him play with his band The Mystics in the 80’s! I almost fainted when he winked at me! Dang! And that smile....melting hearts!
This lady is so sensual and beautiful and sings like an angel. She is also mega talented. I never listened to country until her. Thank you, Bonnie, you are my hardcore beautiful woman. I was first introduced to your talent in about 1977. You are definitely one of my favorite artists.

I do believe this was filmed in the shadow/timeframe of "Great Balls of Fire", hence Dennis' still-blonde hair, the Sun Records T-shirt and the 50's kinda shoes. He was at peak Dennis Quaid here. Every woman I knew back then, when watching/talking about this video, just got all...well, never mind. Let's keep YT family-friendly. I don't talk all dirty on here, even if it coming from/quoting others. 😁
Paraphrasing John Hiatt from a show a few years ago, while playing this song. I wrote a verse professing my undying love to my wife, but Bonnie opted for a brilliant slide guitar solo in its place, she won a grammy, so I guess she knew better. Fwiw, I love both
I loved that song too. I was running a bar in Atlanta. I was married at the time when that song was popular. I was becoming good friends with a cute bartender that worked for me. I tried my best not to take it any further. She asked me to drive her home after work. I did. She made her move. I said No. I got a divorce a few years later. One of the dumbest things I ever did!!! Actually I am proud of myself.
Flawless. It doesn't get any better. She's easily one of my favorite guitarists, and she has a great voice, great stage presence and...amazing dimples!
Bonnie Raitt is a guitar goddess! I've been a fan 4ever, have loved every song, or should I say, experience Bonnie she lets the audience in on !! THANK YOU, MS RAITT 😊❤
i had no clue he was in a music video! Was watching something about top 10 female guitarists and they were showing Bonnie and this video and i had to pause once i saw Dennis haha.
the really cool thing about this video, the pretty girl with the long hair is my first cousin Jackie Old Coyote. this is only one of her many appearances.
Maybe not but I gotta give props to Tracey Chapman who can pull on them guitar strings her own self. But there is something to be said for the sexiness of a woman and a guitar. It's like amazing to watch!

That smile of his made me weak as a teenager. Val Kilmers too the way it just slowly grew into a full grin. So sly.
he was also married to Meg Ryan at the time.. but if Bonnie looked and flirted with me like she did at Dennis.. id put a ring on her.

Bonnies strong but sheepish grin and Quaids boyish moves, couldnt ask for more flirtiness
Brings back fun times and romance.😮
I don’t know how Bonnie was able to concentrate enough to play with Dennis sitting there! 😍😍😍
I know right ! 😂 You can see it in her face and his. They are flirting. 😊Its cute..
She is the ultimate professional.

Drove Detroit to DC playing this CD

Bonnie Raitt's a babe. One in a million and a brilliant musician.
Nobody can make a glass slide talk like Bonnie 😎
That she is,no question about it! John Guinto
I will second that.
🙈🎯💯❤
Powerhouse singer too.
💬More to come 👏👏👏🤩💯❗ G~G.
Unbelievable that someone this talented did not get there big break until the age of 40.
Because she is female.
Blame it on the alcohol
"Their" big break happened when she first started much earlier; we loved her then and now.
I'm telling you Dennis Quaid is so cute in this video. That smile kills me every time
A very young Dennis Quaid there!! great song by Bonnie Raitt!
she was and still fantastic. she plays the way she looks, beautiful.
She has no equal or competition in the blues lady-guitarist/singer arena. Still awesome after all these years.
Must’ve never heard of Susan Tedeschi
She is top rung when it comes to slide guitar.

One of my generation’s best female performers. Gotta love Bonnie!!!
agree!!
One of any generation. In my humble...... She rocks, blues and country's right through my music loving soul. Did I mention, I love women. Lol
When were you born Donna?
i'll be 46 this year and still remember it like the day I first saw the video.
Correction she isn't just a performer, she writes her own lyrics and music.

A great song written by John Hiat,Bonnie delivers it Bonnie style!

As far as female blues guitarist, she has no equal esp on the slide
After five years off (being dropped by Warner Brother Records), Bonnie returned to recording with Capitol Records with this. Her first big hit.
