The brilliantly talented Gibb brothers are legendary! Each uniquely fantastic on their own but together they were out -of -this -world.... Perfection!!! Maurice for me was the total package!!!! He holds my heart for all that he was!!! The endearing, courageous, talented, kind, loving, affectionate, humble, funny, precocious, good looking, musician, voice, dancer, harmonist, best personality.... All of him!!! Truly missed, never forgotten, greatly loved!!! Thank you for shining some light on the ever charming, talented, beautiful Maurice Ernest Gibb!!!
Maurice was a handsome and Great Singer and Writer. Thanks for sharing his story. Miss Him and Robin and Andy. I have been listening to the Bee Gees since they started. RIP 🙏 💔😥
It wasn't a "routine" surgery. Maurice had finished lunch and started to experience painfully sharp abdominal pain. He was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that he had a twisted colon--the same thing that killed young actress Heather O'Rourke. He was rushed into emergency surgery but it was discovered that the damage was too extensive and he was going into septic shock. Maurice died from a massive heart attack that was brought on by septic shock. Robin, who had caught the first flight from England to Florida when he heard the news about Mo, said he felt the exact moment when his twin passed.
Well, Robin later did say it was a "routine" operation. Also, I believe Robin made it to the hospital before Mo died, so he wasn't actually on a flight.
Maurice had it all. He was probably the most talented of the three. Not to take anything away from Barry and Robin. They were all three very talented. Maurice was the one you would see cut-up on stage. I love watching their videos and him acting silly. Especially the one when they were on Johnny Carson. He had a beautiful voice and listening to him and Lulu sing the first of May brings tears to my eyes every time. You can just see how much they truly cared for each other. Such a sad loss, losing Robin, Andy and Maurice, we will never have that beautiful sound again. I can't even imagine the pain Barry has felt. They will never be forgotten. RIP.
Barry, as the primary vocalist and rhythm guitarist , was the essential sound of their arrangements. From the early years on, Barry was the constant instrumentation heard live on stage and in their recordings. Maurice was the least talented lead vocalist, did sing harmony well, and the fact that he played bass, guitar, and keys made him the most versatile musician in the band. Robin had standout parts and the odd, yet beautiful vibrato in his voice was crucial to the earliest big hits, Barry’s was by far the best vocalist and was the strength of their sound with his the best tone and range to his voice.
Fame does not destroy everything and anyone. It is how people handle fame. I am a different, famous person, but I can handle it. I love the BeeGees, including their brother Andy, but I wish they had cared for themselves.
The Bee Gees brought talent and beautiful music to us all over many years … thank you !! Sad this happened though health issues are not easy whether famous or not we’re all human
By the late 1970s Maurice Gibb looked 10 years older than he was due to his booze problems. Still Maurice was the most talented musician in the Bee Gees by far. Bass, keyboards, and other instruments made him just as important as Barry and Robins singing.
Fame does not destroy people and other things. It is how you handle fame. I can handle fame as long as no one talks me into doing things I do not want.
EXCUSE me but you made mistakes! Their early hits as well as Jive talking were completely written by Barry! Also the falsetto you mentioned also was Barry's!!!
Would be interested in your source stating that Barry wrote, Jive Talkin' on his own as well. I didn't think this was true, so been looking it up and clearly, all 3 of them are credited with it on every site I looked at. EDIT: And I know for a fact, that Barry did not write all their early work on his own. That's hogwash. I don't know where you got your information, but, I'd turn to other sources.
It was definitely Barry that made their falsetto sound iconic, for the first time, most notably in the studio recording of Nights on Broadway. However, Maurice gave a killer performance picking up the falsetto when it was performed live on The Midnight Special. ruclips.net/video/ld5_UQhQv5E/видео.htmlsi=Zzd65d1NO8IaWNRU Imho, it was their combined talents that made The Bee Gees so special.
@@michellefederico4510 I was never denying Barry's falsetto. No one can deny that, but it was Maurice who did it first, in, Nights on Broadway. I put a link there to show him singing. Barry would go on to produce the best falsetto I think the world has likely ever seen. Give me an artist if you disagree, and I might change my opinion, but no one comes to mind for me. I don't even recall where the narrator was speaking of Maurice's falsetto, so I wasn't replying to what thund3rbolt54 was specifically speaking of, but, only to make it known that Maurice had one as well, and he was the first Bee Gee to use it. Certainly not the last, and certainly not the best. That one does belong to Barry.
I worked part time at their Miami Beach studio with Peter M. who built their studio in an old warehouse across from where I worked . I met one of them , but I don’t recall which one?

Robin was born 35 minutes BEFORE Maurice.

It’s called “blood harmony” in the Southern US and Appalachia.
