I can tell you now nothing is worse than finishing work at 10pm on a wet day turned frozen night and the button unlock fails standing on the rear waving and pressing the key anywhere you can near the rear sunroof also key barrel to the door is frozen solid blowing warm air over the lock then phoning home to find the Book with the EKA sequence and its Code..hands feeling like ice block twiddling your thumbs waiting for the double horn bleep to finally happen so that you can travel home an hour later than normal...yeah we still love our disco's..😄
If you're very careful you don't need to remove the headlining. Now, about a year after replacing mine, the car will only unlock with the remote if I'm sitting in the car, which is what it did before the last receiver failed. They're not easy to find, either
You can only replace them without removing the headlining if you have sunroofs, as you can see in the video. It sounds like your new one may have got damp too :(
To be honest if you don't have sunroofs you shouldn't get too much damp above the head lining so that's odd! You can now buy them on JGS for around £100 👍
@@Final_Drive Thanks, I don't even have a headlining (Trying to sort out a leak round the windscreen) and I live in Australia, which isn't so much damp as humid at times
Hello, thanks for the video, I have the same problem in that I have to literally stand next to the car before it will unlock. When it does unlock it is laboured and the rear wiper begins to wipe as I press the button. Do you think this is caused by this unit as I havent got a clue
You're welcome mate! Unfortunately I don't think the reciever will fix your issue. It sounds more body control module related if it's got damp or something.
I gotten into the practice of placing the key fob under my chin to get an extra 5 feet to lock/unlock my Disco 2.
😂 I forgot about that! Used to hold them on our heads to see if it extended the range!
Ive tried , new keys , reprogrammed keys , new BCU..nothing. Adding this to my shopping cart of failures hopefully it works!
Let me know if it does! 🤞

I'd have left the damn thing unlocked and taken my chance way before that! 😂 I've since found you can buy the modules on JGS for around £100. 👍

@@Final_Drive I've got no sunroof and very flexible fingers!. Darn it! Maybe with the new one I'll cover the electronics in epoxy!
