    This is my favorite architectural design style! Especially if tastefully fused with a diversity of other more modern design styles!
    Tudor architectural design is a great foundation to create an extraordinary aesthetic of your own!

    I recently purchased a Tudor home, and love it. It looks so unique compared to the other homes in the area. I absolutely love the leaded windows. It used to have slate shingles, but got switched over to asphalt about 12 years ago. I was really bummed when they did that because it was my favorite feature.

    Hello dear! Indeed, i really like the Tudor style, the timber frames look georgous. Certainly, it needs too much maintenance work, but it worth.
    Cheers

    I’ve got one. 1924. I live in a large densely populated city in Southern California. It’s difficult to decorate as there are lots of doors and windows so you are limited as to furniture placement. But we do own it so I’m grateful. I just hate living in so cal and the city.

  • @zanegood855
    @zanegood855 2 года назад

    Yes. I am living in one and having a hard time decorating because of the rooflines encroaching upon my vertical bedroom spaces. I usually do modern/Hollywood glam & all the rustic touches aren’t blending … yet 😉. I’d love more content on how to decorate these particular homes internally. Thanks ❤

    My husband and I have owned 3 homes, but the one that holds our hearts is our Tudor Revival. It’s no accident that this is the one in which we chose to raise our kids! Commissioned as a custom home with a truly beautiful, classic Tudor exterior, its *interior* was sadly beaten into Traditional/Transitional submission by the original homeowner’s unfortunate preferences. We’ve gradually worked over the years to bring Tudor consistency throughout the house, project by project, but criminy, how I wish they had kept the design elements congruent! Would you commission a Mid-Century Modern home and ask for a Spanish Mission interior??? 🙄

  • @Daniel_Ho_Status_101

    Our home is a Tudor revival. I despise the high maintenance of the external half timbers, but I must admit it has great curb appeal.

    • @HomeDecor1011
      @HomeDecor1011  2 года назад

      Its funny you said that, I LOVE a good Tudor because of the curb appeal, however I never thought about the maintenance cost associated with actually owning such home! Thats actually a great point!!

    Original Tudor usually was fully rendered (plastered) especially the outside to shield the wood from rain. Render consisted of multiple layers ending with a surface layer which was especially hard and weather resistant.
    As for the quirky angled wooden struts, the fact is England was experiencing a shortage of long timbers due to great expansion of ship building. Initially the expansion was due to dramatic rise in fishing for cod & subsequent marketing of dry salted cod to Europe.
    Later the threat of Spanish invasion of England further spurred felling of trees. By the time of Queen Elizabeth I death in 1603 England was practically stripped of full sized trees.
    Builders simply had to use shorter pieces of wood and insert supporting struts. They were 'practical men', they didn't build common purpose buildings or houses to look 'pretty' or fashionable.

      It's nice to see a comment from some one with knowledge that know WTF they're talking about !
      When I retired I moved to the Finger Lakes of NY & found a 1923 Tudor style home.
      Well, the bones of the house are Tudor lines but it was sided with clapboards & to make matters worse it was covered with vinyl siding in the'80's !!!
      I'm a retired contractor so I hope I live long enough to make things right.
      Oh, and some of the windows a vinyl replacements - OMG - the worst thing ever invented !!!
      I've begun to replace them with Andersen casements.
      I'm just venting.
      If you ever go to England visit Warwick ( just upstream from Stratford on Avon ) - they've turned the castle into a Disney type attraction but The Tudor Inn is great; an operating Inn since the 1480's.
      Can you tell that I really appreciated your input - most of these people don't care.

  • @michaelrs8010

    The pronunciation "Tu-door" is French and how you would say the watches by the French Swiss watchmaker Tudor.
    But since we're talking about an English design whose name comes from the Tudor dynasty of in England (of which Henry VIII was the second and Elizabeth
    I was the last) the English pronunciation should be used which is "Tu-der". Actually slightly more quickly so it sounds like one word with two syllables that it is.

  • @jessn5677

    I was excited to see Tudor homes reviewed but your pronunciation ruined it for me. Two-door and other words, not gonna go through them all. Voice over is a good idea but its worth taking the time to look up the correct way to say the words you are reading.
