Oh my goodness! I've been trying for over a decade to find this bird! It's always been my favorite since I was a kid. Another youtube comment led me here. Thank you thank you!

I too have been trying to put a face or name to this bird since hearing the song when I was a child. My father heard it too when he grew up in the 1950s and 60s. How and why does it hum the same song generation after generation, across vast lands.
    Excellent documentation. Thank you!

Thank you!! This has been a mystery bird for me for decades. 😁 I wait for movements after the song to see which bird makes the tune but always unsuccessful.🙏🏻

We live near the sea in Cebu, and we hear this lovely little bird every morning and during the day too! So cheerful, this bird can really make your day when you hear the joyful singing.. Their nest is very tiny, hanging on a branch of a nearby neem tree.

how did you manage to film it? I've listened to the call for decades but have never actually seen the bird singing, though they complained when I took away their parasitic Koel which they raised unknowingly.

@@chermusca4638 The female olive-backed sunbird looks similar to this one, so it’s kind of confusing when they’re not singing.
