National Maritime Historical Society Award Video

Interlake Chairman James R. Barker and President Mark W. Barker were honored in October with the 2023 National Maritime Historical Society Distinguished Service Award in recognition of their expertise in marine transportation and their work preserving the maritime heritage of the Great Lakes. The society was particularly impressed that Interlake has acquired the historic ferry S.S. Badger, the last coal-fired passenger vessel operating on the Great Lakes, a National Historic Landmark and an icon on Lake Michigan since 1953.

I happy to see Mr. James R. Barker is still around and in good health. It seems like he's been around forever especially around my era of childhood when his Ship namesake was first in operation. Such a historic and important name
