I grew up in Morro Bay. Went from kindergarten in 1955 to MBHS graduation in 1968. What a precious place to live and grow up. Because of this I feel very blessed. Oh, BTW, I was Morro Bay’s 1st Dahlia Princess 1967.
I grew up there too, in fact our family rented a house from Chet Zinn on 6th St./Harbor St. next to the fire dept. Later bought a house on Radcliff St. K-6 Morro Elem 7-12 MBHS class of 78. It sure has changed from the 60s
I attended Morro Bay elementary from 1965-1970. I totally loved my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs Nagranti. Her family owns and operates the Nagranti Creamery in SLO. If you remember any of the Greek Stanley family members then you’ve met a member of my family. My grandparents lived on Estero Ave and we were on Pacific Street. It’s time for me to visit again soon.
I've seen video's of the police in Morro bay. You don't have a high bar to overcome to be better than your seniors. Do yourself a favor and research the law on your own and remember your actions can ruin someone's life.
Glad you enjoyed it! It would be a great place to retire. That's what my great grandparents did in the 70's. That is likely why my extended family like to meet there for family events.
Thanks for the trip back in time. The last time I was there must of been in the mid 70's. I learned something new thanks t you. I did not know that it was used as a military training center before. Thanks again have a blessed day.
Awe I loved this. Thanks so much Kendall! Great Job! Give your Momma (Dana) a big hug for me. Her and I grew up in the same town, on the same block and even went to all the same schools. I grew up spending summer vacations at Morro Bay... Even went there for Dave and my Honey Moon. loved your sweet video so much. LUVnHUGZ, Rita Donnelly.
One of my favorite places to go indeed. The little sandbar was also used for training during world war 2. Not really sure exactly but had seen picture of what appears to be left of a Willy Jeep left over either on the sandbar or northern part of the big rock. Currently the big rescue sub is covered up due to some needed maintenance.
One of our favorite vacation places. We drive up from San Diego at least once a year and stay several days in vacation rentals either on or close to the Embarcadero.
@@adventureswithkendall Much more laid back than Pismo Beach. Of course, we spend at least 4 days each year up in Cambria because it's very laid back, peaceful and beautiful.
Our family used to camp there right on the beach by the rock in the early 70's. So many happy memories. After serving in the merchant marines in Alaska in 1980 on a trawl fishing boat and floating crab processor in Cold Bay Alaska and before joining the US Navy, I bought a small travel trailer and my son and I lived in there. I worked for Virg's Fishing. I was a deck hand and ran the galley on a sport fishing boat called the Bonanza. The best job I ever had!! The only thing is I kept getting seasick 😂😂. I didnt have that problem on the Bering Sea or Gulf of Alaska. So I joined the Navy. Thanks for the memories!
Besides Daly City & San Francisco, Morro Bay has a lot of Filipinos living in the area… I’ve never been to Morro Bay but I would love to take my family there and spend some time and eat good food mingle with the locals… and maybe even move there in the future.
Well done Kendall! Just a couple of nit picks. You made no mention of the power plant, although it does appear in a couple of scenes. The other one concerns the amphibious training base. Of the six divisions that trained at Morro Bay, none were involved in the D-day landings at Normandy. Four were involved in the fighting in the Pacific. The other two were sent to the European Theatre several months after the D-Day invasion. Other than that, great job!
Thank you so much Joe! I do a great deal of research for each episode. Unfortunately I am relying on a variety of internet sources which we both know can be incorrect. I appreciate you letting me know.
Be careful around the Morro Bay campground...a few of the Calif State Park Rangers are overly aggressive , The campground is open 24 hours I was stopped by Ranger " B . E " as I drove into the campground in the early morning. He took 15 mins to run my drivers license and registration then he wrote me a $100 dollar ticket for " Non payment of camping fees " I explained to him he watched me drive into the park 15 mins ago and the normal procedure is find a empty space then write the space number on the after hours envelope then deposit that in the " Iron Ranger " or take your spot then wait till morning when the gate booth is open for payment by debit or credit card. And that is the job of the Campground host to tell people that at 7 am. that have not paid. Then he proceeded to ban me from the campground for 24 hours. While I was leaving I stopped at the gate pay booth to read the rules he pulled up on me again as I stood there and told me to get away from there I was banned from the park for 24 hours. My court date is written 4 months away from now for Grover Beach Court off Grand Ave. This seems way out of line to me I had done nothing wrong and was doing as any person wanting to go camp would do. So I would say to you be very careful but then again I had done nothing wrong...For those from out of town I don't think you would come back from your home town to pay for his overly aggressive ticket writing. I write this here to hopefully keep him from becoming more aggressive and maybe hurting someone or bringing a huge lawsuit against the City of Morro Bay . Calif State Park Ranger " K " is not far removed in her aggressive ticket writing ......anyone else have this problem ?
I find it fascinating that the paintings of Morro Bay and movies made in 1930 show the same shoreline as today. So much for rapid sea level rising. It's just a myth/conspiracy theory.

We were at the elementary school during the same time. My maiden name was Stanley.

I bikepacked the California coast from San Francisco to Santa Barbara 2021. This is cute town, great camping, nice old-fashioned town people.
That's sounds like an incredible adventure!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful California gem. You did a good job of enticing future retirees. Thanks!😀

Our family goes often too. It's a great central location for us and always a good time.

I'm from San Diego. Is there any place that reminds you of San Diego there like la Jolla
La Jolla is unique, but its coastal beauty has been ruined by street vendors and chronic over crowding.@@adynathaly3145

I did not know there was a large number of Filipinos living there. I hope you get there soon to check it out. I'm sure you'll love it!
Great video. Especially loved the historical footage. Where did you find it?
A lot of it is posted on marker signs along the ocean walk and a lot of digging on the internet.
Just read that again. lol! Just digging on the internet for the historic images.
Would love to visit Moro Bay thank you lovely content Blessings from Pennsylvania 🙏🙏🙏🎚🎚🎚🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Great stuff. I used to surf at the rock
Thanks for watching!
They used to have a tiny aquarium where you could buy fish to feed the seals… it was fun as a kid but so sad as an adult…
I can see kids liking it, but it does have a level of sadness with it. Thanks for watching.
show map and where we are on all your vids, keep up the good work.
Ok thanks!
One of my favorite places in California
Loved to visit hated to leave
Agreed, it's a great place.
Morro Bay is the home port for the Fresno Navy.
Morro Rock appeared on the back cover of the alcoholic anonymous grapevine magazine several years ago.
It's a beautiful site to see!
@@adventureswithkendall I spent three days there back in 2001 beautiful. Had a great time.
Imagine how good the wave was before the jettie was built. As well as port Avila jettie. Must of been even better then killer Dana was
I bet it was. Thanks for watching!
My moms office is at 2:53 🤣🤣 lots of great memories growing up in Morro Bay
It looks like a great place to grow up. Thanks for watching.
Getting married at Morro Bay in a couple months..
It will be a beautiful place to get married, congratulations!
My wife and I were married in SLO and honeymooned in MB.
It would be a great place to honeymoon. 💜
Then and Now but.. what about the future in 2077?
I'll need to find a crystal ball for that. Do you know where I can get one? 😂
The best part about Morro Bay is that it hasn't changed in 70 years.
That is likely a big part of why I like it there. I'm an old soul.

Ist landing of Pilipinos is at Morro Bay in the late 1500's
Wow, great bit of history! Thanks for sharing.

Could be. I guess I should pay better attention to that.
That rock gives energy. Sounds like bullshit but it’s true. Something about it.
I believe it.
