Great Monday as always. Looking forward to the Airfix Mustang. I'm just finishing up the Airfix P-51D. Used Tamiya Rattle Cans for the metal finish. Love to see how the AK turns out for you as I may do another one as a RCAF Post War aircraft.
Gary, for some technical issues my desk top won't post comments , so I'll give my vintage tablet a try. I did complete a good amount of research on a silver paint. I don't think that post got through, take a look at HR HOBBIES, there in the UK , they came up as a good replacement for Floquil Hope that helps and us current CHEERS BOB
@@garys_stuff I only use water-based acrylics now and Metal Color is my go-to. I tested quite a few ranges of acrylics and they came out best. However, I'm sure you'll more easily get better results with lacquers. I've heard Ammo's A-Stand is good - possibly a repackaged Alclad.

Need to check if post war the RCAF used polished metal or high-speed silver like the RAF...

Hi Gary, was it the alcohol based 'Liquid Metal' range that you didn't get on with or the water based 'Metal Color' acrylics?
It was the metal colour. I'm going to try the AK lacquer-based one next...

My flight LGW-MUC was in about 1977 with Dan Dare on a Comet 4C. Nice enough but held at LGW for an hour and no aircon, in July!
