it’s like a sexy steve jobs cosplay... can’t complain
in the first scene, drew’s character is shown wearing shoes in bed. here we can examine the nihilistic undertones of this action, causing us to assume that his character is indeed- a nihilist. we know that an average “human” would never wear shoes in bed, but drew’s character does this to force enya’s character to question exactly why he’s done this, and furthermore- what he will do next.
his character then argues with enya’s character for a bit of time, as enya grows more and more aggressive toward drew. this act of aggression acts as her instinctual reaction to drew’s initial questioning of humanity / reality.
we see drew’s character resolve this conflict by putting his glasses on- but was this really the reason he did that?
no, obviously not. drew places his glasses on his face, exclaiming the anger it may cause some people. by doing this, drew shows he is the one true seer of things, he is reminding enya that he has the power of god, and that should she get mad at him once more- she would have to face drew in his purest form.

in the beginning of this video we see drew in bed, nothing unusual. however he seems to spring out of it and what we see next is a little odd. the boy had shoes on his feet. “shoes?,” you might wonder. strange yes. “why wear shoes in bed?,” you might ask yourself, but perhaps try looking at it through drew’s point of view. he justifies that it’s more efficient, and yes that does sound absurd but maybe it isn’t. maybe he’s right. we are all so used to following the norm and trying to live up to societal standards that we forget about our own originality. drew has began to break free from society’s standards and he does it with efficiency. you can observe this in his last video as well as this one. his last video depicts him becoming a “silly little fall girl” and in this video he becomes a “2014 tumblr girl”. if you analyze them right drew is exploring different identities because he is tired of trying to live up to society’s standards and has now ventured on his own path to break free from the norm. if you read this thank you for listening

Honestly it totally does
theory: drew is not who we think he is. there is much evidence proving this within this video alone. the first scene shows drew in his natural “sleeping” state. his arms are crossed and he rises from his bed fully dressed. second, he opens the fridge and gravitates towards the strawberries, then proceeds to put the entire thing in his mouth and eats it like it is normal. not to mention the continual usage of black and white filters throughout the film and his complexion growing paler and paler, he is becoming less and less human as time goes on. coming from someone who has observed drew for years, i have noticed this. he has little perspective of time, he doesn’t know how to properly eat, and he doesn’t know how to use normal items such as lister one strips. it is like he is forgetting how to be human. he makes ungodly sounds and movements during this “trip” and scares his roommate enya. after this “trip” he acts like nothing happened. he liked things in urban outfitters that nobody with common sense would like. he conjured up a lana deal ray album which would not have been there. he had a glitch where he couldn’t stop saying “we just picked up the lana del ray vinyl” and then went into buy cigarettes. he wipes between his cheeks, the cigarettes he just bought. he contradicts his statement of “don’t smoke cigs” then proceeds to smoke them. in the transformation segment, he looks so natural in the black turtleneck and the black and white filter. this is not drew’s transformation, but enya’s. if you have not yet gathered from the evidence i have provided here today, drew is a modern day vampire, and he is turning enya into one in this film. in the end they agree that they are who they have always wanted to be, and enya, for a moment, reminisces on the past and comes out of the trance to make a psa: that you can always visit the past so enjoy the present and the future doesn’t exist. drew is a freak of nature, but he has not always been this way. he took a multi month hiatus in which he was over going his transformation, he just didn’t document it so we wouldn’t notice. or so he thought. drew is a vampire and enya is too. spread the word. we have to protect ourselves. there is a new plague coming. this is just the start of it.

the art in this is unreal. well planned out and extremely beautiful. the contrast with the white wall and the colored room with his outfit is out of this world. you can tell he definitely planned it out like a real artist. the tone of their voices clearly depicts the love and hatred they have for one another. enya filming represents how angry and in love someone can be w someone, whereas drew on the camera represents the cute greasy love someone can feel for someone. overall, the moral of the story is that mental health can be very difficult but very beautiful at the same time. as someone who is depressed, watching this feels as though we are on this depression journey together🥰 thank you king :)
i agree with most of your statements except the greasy part. drew has finally become a man and went through the rite of passage of showering regularly. to be completely honest, maybe this whole time ENYA was the greasy one. she has been so overlooked and everyone is on drew's "lice" but maybe just maybe it was enya the whole time. i mean, she dyed her hair how many times?? it wasn't her changing the color she was killing the lice and bugs with the chemicals. her cutting her hair was a way to manage the pure grease that was her hair.

@@Wormbuttsex i disagree completely. this idea that showering regularly to become a man = no grease is extremely toxic and overlooks the way lice can manifest into hair molecules. i personally believe that enya was NOT constantly dying her hair to kill lice, if that was the issue she would’ve called bob duncan to exterminate them for her. the constant change in colours represents her moods. her hair is like a mood ring and you can tell what stage of life she is in depending on the colour.
@@valc4595 right? to add on to my last points, enya has been smoking to clear the bugs out by making their home inhabitable. she mentions "we don't smoke that often" to try and cover the fact that she does. this makes her seem more guilty for lying about it. case closed. enya is the lice-infested, greasy one and drew should not he held accountable for her crimes.
@@maddyknauss3657 i respect your opinion but politely disagree. i do in fact agree with the point that "man = no grease" is toxic and i retract that statement fully. on to your other points, bob duncan is a family man, and a very hard worker. i do not think he would take time off to remove a lice infestation inhabiting the area around enya's crown chakra. he has more important things to work on than enya's bugs. to add on to my points made, the mood swings could be the lice changing the way she acts. some side effects are being irritated easily, mood swings, nausea, dizziness, and in extreme cases diarrhea. the lice were growing up and weren't the same as before. they changed as they became older, and that could be why enya started changing too.

The film “where I’ve been… becoming a 2014 tumblr girl (my dream aesthetic” by Drew Phillips is about two friends, coworkers, roommates who realises how old they are after they see a tweet which states “imagine being a teenager in 2014”. With the help of Enya, Drew goes on a journey to transform into a 2014 Tumblr girl to feel the nostalgia of being a teenager in 2014 again. Phillips has expressed the reality of our society today as well as the year 2014, through the relationship between Drew and Enya.
Firstly, the conflict between the two characters Enya and Drew has emphasised how our generation today has lost the distinction between practicality and laziness. We see this through the conflict which ensues between Enya and Drew in the opening scene. Drew wakes up, and Enya notices that Drew has been wearing shoes inside his bed. Enya is disgusted by this however Drew claims that by wearing shoes in bed he can “rise out of bed and immediately go“. Here we see how Phillips has expressed how our generation perceives practicality which in reality is just the result of laziness. Another example of this is when Drew eats his strawberry whole, unwashed, with the leaf still attached. Enya is clearly against this, and is appalled. Phillips uses the non-diegetic sound of melancholy orchestral music over the two characters fighting to emphasise the two conflicting beings in this film. Enya exclaims “you’re body is a literal garbage disposal.”. This is when drew realises that how actually nauseating and revolting it is to eat fruits in this way. Drew then laughs, and spits out the orange in his mouth. The conflict between the two characters in this scene truly shows the clash between laziness and practicality in our society today.
Phillips also expresses the reality of the incredibly glorified year 2014, where teenagers dressed up in grunge fashion, listened to Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys and posted on their Tumblr feeds. Through their journey of transforming Drew into a 2014 Tumblr girl, they soon realise how oblivious and blind they were to the harmful impact this aesthetic was on both the environment and for the society overall. This includes taking photos of oil spills as well as promoting cigarette usage, not knowing the harmful impacts this has on the wider society. Also shopping fast fashion brands such as ‘Urban Outfitters’ clearly being unconscious about how this negatively impacts our environment.After buying some herbal cigarettes Drew states “Cigarettes are fucking disgusting, don’t smoke” when in reality, we all wanted to do it and were reposting “grunge Tumblr cigarettes” photos while listening to “why’d you only call me when you’re high” just 7 years ago. In the ending scene Enya states that she was the ultimate 2014 Tumblr girl in 2014, minus the cigarettes. Although they both enjoyed the sensation of smoking for a little while, they both come to the realisation that it will overall mess up your skin and health as well as the fact that it will make your house smell like a Parisian cafe.
Overall in this film “where I’ve been… becoming a 2014 tumblr girl (my dream aesthetic” Drew Phillips successfully expresses the contrast between out society today as well as the year 2014 which has been glorified on social media despite the fact that this aesthetic has promoted the harmful use of cigarettes.

Can we talk about the scene where the main character turned his spectacles into a monocle? My theory is that when the character, Drew, removed half of the glasses, and transformed it into a monocle is a turning point in the film. It’s like a metaphor that the main character always had one eye open at night, very weary of the antagonist in the film, Enya. And when he broke the spectacle it was as if he was hinting to the audience that he has been living in fear while living with the villain that ridicules him constantly. It’s such a subtle gesture, but once dissected super meaningful, like who would’ve thought that Drew had been in such a horrible situation?Great work! Changes a persons perspective on life, honestly.

The juxtaposition between Drew's vibrant colourful room and the fact that he is sleeping in the middle of the afternoon is actually extremely telling as it is a demonstration of Drew's crippling and rapidly worsening depression and his attempt to mask this unfortunate reality. It is soon revealed that Drew has been sleeping with his shoes on. He attempts to justify this horrid behaviour by arguing that he is doing this because it allows him to get his day started as efficiently as possible. Here, Drew again attempts to pretend as though he is thriving and productive. However, in reality, both Enya and us the viewers know that this is not the case (he was sleeping in until an abnormally late hour and has not posted a video in months). After quite a long time of hiding behind this mask of puttogetherness, Drew finally admits to himself and the viewers that he is indeed exceedingly depressed. Enya then reveals that she too is currently in the depths of depression. Another compelling and note-worthy occurrence in this video is that Enya had been aggressively berating Drew and taunting him for his habits that are a result of his mental illness (sleeping with his shoes on, eating bug infested strawberries directly from the fridge. etc.) Perhaps, Enya's depression results in aggression towards Drew and pointing out his flaws and issues in order to distract from her own. Just something to think about...
