Roll trail first (6’ culvert, 2” square tubing, with weights 200lbs). Then go over with drag. Makes great tracks. Anytime snowfall >6” roll. Builds up great solid trail, carry you into April.

Yes! SnowTrax is back baby!
That is a really cool drag. Some friends of ours that live in Northern Maine just use an old box spring, works well enough and the dump has them for free. Might not work as good as this but free is hard to beat.
I use a free pallet with two cinder blocks on it. I’m sure it’s not as good as this, but does a great job for no money.
I used an old 4 x 8 utility trailer frame to make a drag.
I stripped off the decking and leaf spring / axle assembly and turned it over so that the tow bar can be raised to the height of the hitch on the snowmobile. I had a swivel hitch fabricated and bolted to the end of the tow bar and braced the tow bar to the corners of the frame using eyebolts, chain and turnbuckles. I also bolted some lengths of angle iron to it with teeth cut in it, pointing down, to cut into packed snow.
One benefit of the design is the tow bar is attached to the frame about 3 feet behind the front of the frame so the front of it cuts into the bumps rather that ride up over them.
The whole thing cost me around $200 and will last as long as anything else.
Oh, and I forgot to mention... we got snow here on the west coast of Newfoundland yesterday so this video is timely.
@@ih302 lucky bastard, we haven't gotten snow in maine yet
Nice idea. Offers more than just a groomer. Hope to see one in action this winter.

Simple heavy duty design. I like .

"They never seem to last a whole season" tell that to the 40 something year old one I've got sitting in my yard
Qamutiks are a must own in the arctic.
Happy to see ya boys are back! The link/url for the groomer is bad though.
Hey Andrew. Rob Pilozzi is the inventory of this product. He'd be happy to talk to you at 416-708-7759
Search RUclips for "raspen sladd" (means in Swedish, heavy file groomer..)This is the one we invented years ago, holds lots of snow to dump in the holes, carv bumps hard, and can be tilted left or right. You can lower it, and higher it.
Cool

Does anyone have economical advice for cutting through hard drifts that form on open trails?
Sorry , maybe I missed the link to there site, can you please provide, thank you!!!
Can't wait for the riding season but it's tough to think about snow when it is supposed to be close to 80....again....at home!!
YEESH! Like the fall weather but kinda done with the heat. Bring on the snow!!
@@snowtrax And, thanks to your reviews, I just ordered a bunch of new FXR gear!!
Nice!!
Bring on the warm weather, lol
I’m a landscaper.
neat.

someone read the over elaborate wording from the brochure.
"water jet formed rake" made me laugh. I don't care how you cut it, it doesn't effect strength or functionality in the slightest. The HAZ of laser cutting here would be pretty inconsequential.
It's odd to me that a reference to mountain grommers is not more prevalent in drag behind systems. The finishing rail really needs to be a composite weighted flap that allows the fluffed snow a transitional compaction resulting in less blowby that was happening during this video. Also- a tiller that is driven by forward momentum would work much more efficiently than fixed cutting blades. This would be especially true after the trail is set and needs a fluff to prevent icing and shelf shattering caused by fixed blades slicing shelves of ice.
I'd like to see it have some sort of walls to help keep logs in . I know you can tie down logs but seems like a missed opportunity to have some sort of edge on each side .
Yes, this is a good thought. It would be a relatively simple process to cut out a section of the runners and weld in HSS tubing in the four corners. You can slot some wood or steel in there. Do keep in mind though, that each addition will add to the cost, so I am sure the idea came up in engineering, it may have cost too much.
Then it would cost as much as a truck....
@@jedidiah5131 no. Not even close. A truck cost 50 grand. Come on.
@@quincee3376 Just a figure of speech lol...all that metal could easily put the price up a thousand dollars or more. I build ATV trailers for a manufacturer and that mod wouldn't be cheap.
@@jedidiah5131 ya i gotcha.
Can you add a link in the description as to where I can find this product. I’m in the USA and can’t seem to find it on any website? Thanks

Where do you get the ball hitch for the back of your sled to pull it with? I have a pin hitch, but can’t find anywhere to get a ball hitch like that.

WTF is with the snow? Holy early!
will just get packed with snow, and then u drag an ice block...it needs to blend/chop with a mechanism like a ski slope groomer or else you will just drag ice

Hi
My grandfather made an aluminum sleigh 40 years ago and it works 50000times better then that and it's actually practical its light enough I pulled it with a 120 when I was a kid
My dad has one he built himself it’s lasted 8 years
I can't find the site. Can you post a link?

Rob Pilozzi will take your call at 416-708-7759
I don't think the hitch will hold up. Guess we'll see.
There's no way to adjust cutters. You need a means to put downward pressure on cutters when you need it, and remove it when you don't, or when you're just balling up wet snow etc..

Can a 700 Yamaha Grizzly pull that
Canadian / Us sales and info can email Sales@HomesteadLegacy.ca
Good question! Never tried.
Liam kelly volgs and moto vlogs you can tow it with whatever will pull it how about a heated cab SXS 👍
I pull mine with a Honda 420 rancher... traction is everything, just don't wait for 12 " of fresh snow.... but i run my sled trails all winter with my quads no problem. extends atv season by 3-4 months :)
How does it do at like 90 MPH? Lol
This thing cost more than what my sled cost me
Anyone have a ruff idea how much $$$
sales@homesteadlegacy.ca
1000-2000 depending on model, www.homesteadlegacy.ca
good idea but not long enough
sales@homesteadlegacy.ca
That's a tree snagger for sure. Watch the inside of corners or you'll be kissing your windshield when your machine stops instantly.
The twenty dollar question: How much does it cost?
1000-2000 depending on model, www.homesteadlegacy.ca
And yet, after all the details , u left out one of the MOST important things.....price.....WHY?
No need to mention the price , if you are interested you will contact the company.
The only reason u dont mention price is kuz u know its so high noone would want one. Convince me im wrong???
Haha I love how this guy talks about a piece of metal you drag behind a sled like it is a space shuttle - and that's probably because it cost the same as a space shuttle. You could build this thing out of 2x8s if you had half a brain. And the name: "Homestead Legacy", Ridiculous. There's always a sucker out there.
Good Day to ya =)
lmao this has been a thing

Just use the ole lady to break trail. Have her roll on out !
Save your money for boose
Not long enough needs to be at least 10 ft. Don’t waste your money
More of a trail packer
