Excellent video. I'm an electrical engineer, studying to be an ETO. This is a great explanation for someone with a limited mechanical background. Very easy to grasp.

That depends on the pressure in the pipes. The higher the pressure the the higher boiling point. 1. After Liner can for some engines be up to 130degC 2. After Cylinder Head can for som engines be up to 85degC 3. Depends on the engine load - if the load is high the temeprature is low. Hope it helped.
Thanks very good explanation...i would like to ask you a question about the pumps..you said that when the engine is stoped we close jacket pump and start fw circ pump ...this procedure is in all merchant ships ? I'm gonna embark on a bulk carrier and i would like to know. There are always circ pumps for that reason or in some ships we use only jacket pumps ?? I will appreciate your answer thanks !!!
All foreign going ships are fitted with small circulation pump. This is done to reduce the power consumption (as jacket water will consume more power) and hence the fuel consumption of the auxiliary engine.
@@marineinsight In addition to that, hence main engine is stop no need much HT pressure for cooling the cylinder liner, head, exhaust valve etc...only to provide heating to prevent thermal shock and prevent jacket cooling water leakage.
There are different companies who provide chemcals under their brand name. However, following composition remains the same - Nitrite, carboxylates, Nitrite boarte, nitrite polymers
Thanks for the explanation, this lesson was quite usefull for me, cuz for now i'm a cadet. Have you a video about HVAC system and sewage treatment plant?
Thank you for the suggestion. We do have an ebook on different marine engine components, explaining its function and maintenance. learn.marineinsight.com/eBooks/e-2-stroke-marine-engine-components/
Better show in detail a lng reliquifaction plant: what is the main cooling medium, any compander, comressor, electric motor room. Next gas fuel system)))
Deaerator is used to remove trapped air bubbles from the circulating water in order to avoid pressure fluctuations (which in turn could cause damage to the pipe lines). So no, it is not advisable to NOT use Deaerator.
Liner is the cylinder which forms the part of combustion chamber in which piston moves. Jacket is a part of entablature, covering the liner to provide cooling water passage 👍🏻
What happens to the heated "sea water" after it leaves the "Sea Water Cooler"? The heated sea water is expelled back into the sea. As wiki says: "At any given moment there are 50,000 merchant ships crossing the worlds oceans. The heat from the cooling systems of these ships on the oceans of the world is what is really causing climate change, heat wave and drought.

very clear message and effective video easy to understand....million thanks
Iincredibly intelligible and understandable explanation, half of sailors do not know this!)))
Thank you. Glad to know that the video explanation is useful for fellow seafarers. Please do share and support 👍🏻
Kandungan video sangat baik, tahniah
Great visual explanation.
Thank you for the knowledge you share sir..Salute.
Easy to understand thanks a lot ❤️
Please make such videos of engine.
Sure.
Thanks. Just wondering what chemical is used to treat the jacket water. Kindly throw some light. Ty
best explanation of this system
Excellent and very informative video!!
It would have been better if an explanation on alarms and trips in this system was also done!!
Thank you!!
Thank you for your comment. Noted the suggestions.
god bless you good man

Good explanation.. could u upload a video of reversing of 2 stroke diesel engine????
@Nibin. Thank you. Sure, we will pass the suggestion to our team.
Thank you very much for this video. Do you know the flow off seawater necessary to cool down engine?
Good video. Whats the normal temperature
1. After liner
2. After cylinder head
3. After exhaust valve

Thank you. Very informative video.👍
Hey Nithin. Glad you liked it. Please do share and support 👍🏻
great video
So nice explanation..but forgot about turbocharger cooling
Thank you for the comment.
TC is cooled by system oil...
Very well explained, more power Indians ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome 👍

Please add subtitle sir for better understanding. Its a nice video.

What chemicals are usually used to test the jacket cooling water Can you name them??
There are different companies who provide chemcals under their brand name. However, following composition remains the same -
Nitrite, carboxylates, Nitrite boarte, nitrite polymers
Unitor is name of such company which provides chemicals for this use .
@@anuragtyagi8779 Correct 👍🏻...another one is Drew.
Can you please put video about reversing of engine(2&4 stroke)

why 2 element control system is used in main engine jacket water cooling system?
Name of the chemical to be added?
What is jacket cooling temperature? Thank you☺️

Currently, we do not have any video or article specifically on PID controller. We will suggest the same to our team. 👍🏻
From which metal this jacket is made of?
Very nice, keep it up 👌

you would have mentioned about LT water and HT water in this jcw system,,master controller and slave controller.. Anyway i appreciate your work

I watch your vedio it was so easy to understand and brief.
Make vedio on feed water generator

@marineinsight, why do we always have a return jacket water connection on bottom of expansion tank always, why not from the top, kindly guide..
It is done in order to maintain a positive head. Same reason as to why the water tank in your locality is placed at such a great height.
With the help of gravity Method
Also to provide raw water from exp.Tk...
Nice👍
Thank you. 👍🏻

No LT, HT fresh water??
The above explained cooling is traditional type. As there is no LT & HT system
Yes, this explanation is for open loop system, which is still in use.
@@marineinsight I thought this type of system was phased out . Possibility on old ship. Mostly seen closed loop in my seatime...
