Nice video! How deep was the water where you were using the spoon? Also saw you guys using topwater middle of the day and it was working ? You don’t subscribe to the only during twilight periods for topwater ? I want to throw topwater all day every day - it’s so fun, but was told to keep it limited … so happy to see you catching fish on it with the sun up!
Thank you! I typically run that spoon anywhere from 1-3 ft. I fish a lot of oyster bars and points so I start the lure up shallow and bring it down the drop offs. And I’d throw topwater anytime of the day! During the middle of the day you might not get as many strikes, but the ones you do get are usually quality fish. During the deep summer time when it gets really hot during the day, topwater is best in the morning when the water is cooler.
4000 size reel on a 7’ Medium heavy rod. 15lb braid with 25lb fluorocarbon leader. With those bigger snook I prefer to use 30lb+ leader, but if the water is really clear you have to downsize.
Hey Josh, I'm heading up to Yankee town for Fathers Day. I'll be putting my flats boat in at Bird Creek. Looking for some advice. Should I fish north around Kelly creek/Jubb island or run south to Buckford creek area? I'll be fishing with my two kids, artificials and shrimp.
Kelly creek could be a good area. A lot of the fish have moved out to the outer points around porpoise and mangrove points. There are some bars in between those two points that are very productive as well. I’d recommend trying out Kelly creek first since you’ll be close to it then making the run to the outside points if you need to. I’d recommend throwing gold spoons, paddle tails, or topwater. Live shrimp should definitely get you on some fish too!
@@reellifewithq572 Nice! I’m gonna try and make some more trips to the east coast to fish here soon! I prefer to fish the incoming tide, but as low as there is good tide movement either tide will produce.
Great video 👍 I kayak out to Chambers Island 😂😂😂 All the way out from the marina it’s non stop action
