I‘m also a music major and I had the exact same reaction to the song when listening to it for the first time. I felt like they just slapped me in the face and left me completely confused and lost like...WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! Their progressions are so smooth and creative! I had to start playing the piano, to figure out the key and the harmonic pogressions and it left me amazed. Also, when they added the half-time bridge I officially lost it. Ugh! And their mixture of belting and falsetto in the chorus...LOVE IT. I listened to the full album in one go...It‘s so good. Some songs are really unpredictable and so interesting. The way they chose to split up words and laid down the chords...AMAZING! There are like two or three low-key songs to calm you down after the storm, but the whole album - to me - tells one story. This album is literally the best album of this whole year, and definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. Each song is so different and SOO Day6. When I first listened to "Emergency" (which I totally predicted being on the react list lol) I literally started smiling and laughing out loud while walking to class because I was so shocked and happy by how...weird and amazing it was lmao that song is something else and is probably my favorite in the album followed by About Now, Ouch and Not Fine. I was in love with Day6 since their debut and I am so, SO PROUD of them. They keep improving and improving every comeback to surprise us and all their songs are so musically interesting. There's not a single song I don't like. I have my faves but all of them are musically amazing and they deserve so much more recognition for their massive work

Their craft this time kinda reminds me to Kenshi Yonezu's, the weird sound you listened at the beginning and somewhere in the song, and the weirdness of the pattern. Tho it is not necessarily equipped with more weird sounds like Yonezu's and definitely appear far more band-y. Good song, good vibe. Love the amazing crafts a lot!
