Roberto Baggio made me fall in love with football back in 94.... as a young boy... watching him in the world cup... made me want to play. Will always be my favorite of all time. Thank you Roberto Baggio.
@@YourPhysioGuide Baggio goal vs Spain 94 WC… man so many, even his return in 98 was special to me. His first penalty goal for Italy in that 98 WC, first since his epic miss in the 94 final… special to me also.
Undoubtedly one of the best players ever in pure skill. Although he wasn't always as effective in matches as he could have been. I had the honour of seeing him play for Juve in 95 vs Foggia. Alongside Ravenelli, Vialli and a very young Del Piero! What a team that was! Baggio scored... His goal for Italy vs Czechoslovakia in the 90 world cup in Italy is one of the greatest ever.
In my opinion, he and Francesco Totti are the strongest footballers in the history of Italian football. Two completely different stories, one gave his life for Roma, the other is the only player to have played for Inter, Juventus and Milan who is respected and loved by all the fans
I can live with the fact that he missed the penalty in '94... What I struggle with more is the volley against France in '98. If that hit the net, there's a good chance that Italy would have reached the final and had their revenge over Brazil, Brazil were poor that day. Imagine the redemption story that could have been for Baggio just 4 years after that penalty miss. I also wish he stayed in Bologna too rather than join Inter where he would have had the playing time and the freedom to showcase his talents week in week out. I think he could have made the 2000 Euro's & 2002 World cup also if he stayed in Bologna. What a story that would have been. My favourite player.
Baggio was as good as it's ever been. Go watch his compilations... the talent is ridiculous. Clearly medical staff did whatever they had to do to allow him to perform at at least 95% after injury. Only that missed pen knocked his reputation as arguably a top 5 ATG player.
@@YourPhysioGuide - Tell 'em, bredda! And contrary to the myths of world class on 'broken knees'...let's not forget the medical staff allowed him (whether painkillers or steroid injections) to perform very, very close to his peak. It's not as if he was only 70% as good after injury return : )
today people just know him by "the man who died standing" but they never acknowledge how he was destroying deffenders left and right good editing by the way :D

Who knows what kind of player he would have been if it hadn't been for all those injuries.
