This is quickly becoming one of my favourite channels. Thanks for being so honest about your take on libraries in general. Made Black Friday a lot easier to navigate.
Anne if I may say, holy SHIT! Your demo sounds just fantastic. More than a library review, demos like that will sell product. I hope there's a series on tap that gets into the nitty gritty of your mixing and mastering. THAT is also a side of your process I would certainly like to see. Really fine work on that demo. Thank you.
Thank you so much! That’s very kind of you. I will eventually get into my template and mixing process though I’m still trying to figure out the best way to do it. I’ll probably get a score mixer on here as a guest.
One thing I researched (and confirmed with UVI) is that various of these instruments are licenced form other library producers. We actually had a bunch of these patches already. That said, it´s convenient have them all in one place. UVI should really be a bit more transparent about this on their site. A good overall library and useful for creating the background instrumentation, but, if you have a lead prominent instrument in your composition, you may need to go to a more expensive and specialised single instrument library.
Thanks for taking the time to make these video's Anne! And this way of reviewing is by far the most useful. All these 'reviews' where people are simply going through the patches are putting me off.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it. :-) Yes, I always feel that it's best to spend some time with a product first and to also write a piece with it to get a feel for it and really judge it based on that. Had I not used it in a piece, I probably would have drawn all kinds of wrong conclusions.
Hi Anne, I am a drummer from the English speaking Caribbean. Thank you for your excellent review of UVI World Suite2. I will definitely get this product based on the superb job you did.
Thank you for your time. All your tips are very nice for someone like me who is a young composer just starting. On the plus side your music is amazing, you have a very good sens of melody! Give me chills😊
Hi Anne, thank you for such an honest review and also for creating this channel. To have all this super useful content provided for free from a working professional is just incredible.
Thanks for your thorough and honest review... I especially appreciate that you tell both what you liked and didn´t like about the library... many (most) reviewers just mention the parts they like, and that not so helpful... just subscribed to your channel, keep up the good work!
Lovely, tasteful compositions with interesting chord changes, thank you Anne-Kathrin :) For me, the highlights are the various flutes and santur / santoor. However, these are also available (perhaps more) deeply sampled in Kontakt format with other vendors...
Great tutorial again, thanks Ann. Very clear how you explain everything!... I have this World suite as well, great to pick up some sounds of it and indeed, not all are fantastic but that does not matter so much to me. I think within a short timeframe you can put something "asian" or "arabic" together as you have some many instruments grouped together. My best wishes for you for 2022, regards from the Netherlands!
So beautiful and in a sentimental way reminds me of the Price of Egypt´s title "When you believe" with beloved Whitney Houston and still great Mariah Carey. Thanks for this nice track, Anne-Kathrin!
thanks for all your videos, they are always useful ! I reckon those general libraries are handy but always frustrating (I have RA too) In case you'd want more deep ethnic instrument, take a look to Ilya Efimov, very good celtic & ethnic winds and also oustanding guitars and accordeon (but very slow server uhh), impact worksound does some good stuff too. Anyway thanks, I learned a lot thanks to you
Thanks for the wonderful review and great compositions as always, Anne. I’ve heard UVI’s World Suite 2 doesn’t have any microtonal tunning function which is critical for expressing ethnic instruments. EW’s Silk, Ra, Gypsy or Best Service’s Ethno World 6 has the microtonal tunning feature for more authentic scale system rather than plain Western meodern equal temperament tunning system. I hope you can review Ethno World 6 complete someday. It was a passion projet by Italian film composer Marcel Barsotti. It covers ethnic instruments and voices from regions of East & West Asia, Africa, North & South America, and Europe.
I don't remember if World Suite 2 has micro-tuning but in any case it would be pointless in practicality. I never used it with my EW products either. There would be few in Western culture who know how to properly use it in an authentic way without making fools of themselves. But usually we are asked to only use these instruments as flavors in our orchestral works anyway, in which case Western tuning needs to apply. Also, I can't imagine anyone having the time on a professional production to mess around with micro-tuning. It would be much more beneficial in that case to simply mock it up with Western tuning and then get an actual player into the studio to record the part once the piece is approved.
Super late to the party in finding this video but god I love UVI. Have you per chance made a video on programming realistic sounding percussion? More specifically hand percussion ie bongos, congas, djembe, etc. Those have been giving me some major headaches in more than a handful of projects I’ve got going on right now for both myself and for clients.
Hi Anne. I have an Akai MPK88 like you and I find using the drum pads very useful for setting up Key Switches. Really enjoying your channel so thanks! M. :-)
Nice review, thanks! ... It's weird how you tend to pick up small melodies that sound similar to other things. My brain immediately thought of "When you believe" from that flute in the main chorus.
Hey, Great review was really helpful compared to other tutorials/reviews etc on this product, gonna check out your other videos. I'm looking to get a "world" product, so thanks for your conclusion with E/W RA/Silk, just wondering your thoughts (if you've used it) on Ethnoworld 6 instruments? I get the impression that all these world packages have pros/cons and probs having them all would counteract this issues but can only afford to get one of them. Im more driven to World Suite 2 due to the amount provided for the cost. Thanks again for this review and great music
A fantastic review as well, extremely useful. I'm tempted to get hold of this as there seem to be some great instruments in there. Can I just ask, what library/libraries are you using for the orchestral strings in the background of your demo piece? They're absolutely gorgeous!
Do you know if there is physical sound bank module type of device, to which I could install this sounds? (sorry if this question does not make sense)...I'd like to play sounds like this live in a band, and somehow I don't like using laptop on stage...any chance?
I bet. Then again I feel like one can't complain for the amount of instruments one gets for the price. Even if half of them were unusable, that would still result in well over a hundred useful instruments.
@@AnneKathrinDernComposer Oh ok! Idk if your using OBS but that might help. Just stumbled across your channel and I love it so far! You are going places. Live streams would be great too!
very symphatic. i haver to tell that the travelers inside world 2 really bad. @uvi: how can u guys mix dmin (cuban salsa piano) with gminor (brazilian salsa bass) at the sametime. better no travellers

That demo piece at the start is absolute gold! What a fantastic composer you are! Bravo! 👏🏻
Thank you!

Really HELPFUL review, addressing exactly (!) the questions and concerns that I've been wondering about! Thanks much!
OMG! This is the most sweetest piece of ethnic music I've ever heard!
Thank you!

Very insightful! Didn't know that little gem of a library until now.

I really love how you reviewed this. Pls continue this and make a honest review series. Phoenix would be nice :) (because you mentioned it)
Yeah I’m not dropping $600 on a library I don’t need just to review it.
Amazing review, please do more like this!
I’m not sure I will but we’ll see what the future holds. Glad you liked it though!
I just love the demo so much. Thank you for your review !
This sounds better than almost every other software instrument sound source period.
Kontakt library better! Where round robin?)
listen to ethno world 6 and epic world for comparison...probably sounds better than EW RA and silk road,...but that's about it
Awesome work! Thanks for your valuable insights Anne!

This was the video that made me subscribe to your channel.
You say what you want!
Beautiful track! I have to dive into this library more. Just joined Sonic Pass.
Amazing demos!! Wow
Thank you!
Someone at UVI is a genius, your track at the beginning Is amazing, now I want this!
Hahaha, I don't even know if they liked the demo or review - they haven't commented on it yet. But I sure hope they do! :-)

Two years later, I am still interested in this library just because of this music. It's on sale now! $179

In the "Tree" tab on top left you find the microtuning settings.

What do you think about loops? I don't know really.
these tunes made me cry the flute healing 🤍🌱⛰️🎶
Can I listen this full version
Nice review, thanks! ... It's weird how you tend to pick up small melodies that sound similar to other things. My brain immediately thought of "When you believe" from that flute in the main chorus.
Thank you
The library is 40Gb of FLAC compressed samples. So it's roughly 100Gb of raw samples.
This was really fun to listen to! :D
Thank you!

hi Anne dear... one of my favourate youtuber with cuteness and knowledge. i deadly like this vst but cant effort jst.

I'm sold, but I'll wait for a discount.
The old 'World Suite' was also a mixed bag. A lot of instruments but of varying quality.
I bet. Then again I feel like one can't complain for the amount of instruments one gets for the price. Even if half of them were unusable, that would still result in well over a hundred useful instruments.
Awesome Review!
thank you for your vids ❤❤❤
god bless you🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching! :-)
waah what a arrangement
This demo reminds me of the Diablo 2 and Starcraft soundtrack.
Please do tell the people at Blizzard, haha! As a Warcrafter, writing something for them is on my bucket list :-)
This sounds beatiful!
It could be a new series "Balls of Steel" LOL where you give us your brutal honest opinions about libraries
Haha, thank you! :-)
gekäuft.
Anne-Kathrin, sorry a question, I am noticing all of your tracks are midi tracks. Are they all routed to a VEP server or something?
Anne.. World Suite 2 or Ethno World 6?
Is is just me or was there no play head in Cubase?
There wasn't. Somehow the Windows 10 screen recording feature erases it. I'll look into it for future screen recordings.

Microtonal is posible here but not with this player. You need the other player that UVI offers to make mikrotuning changes
Hlo sista 🤓...how can I install this world suit 2 ..pls help me out...i already downloaded the 36gb of file with extension called .ufs.
