I also got annoyed about the fenced in animals because my game keeps bugging out with fence gates so I just removed them entirely. I hated spending a solid minute just trying to get my character to close a fence gate

I am not far from it, but I have the wiki to check only two gifts: Sashimi and Common Mushrooms I have 700 mushrooms, and Sashimis being the food that they are, they are liked by many NPCs So my job was giving people either a Sashimi or a Common Mushroom cuz I was not gonna work to give them all specific gifts lmao I now use the wiki to place stuff in effective manners, and to check stuff I am missing I don't check it for crops I have a website that skips the math of what crop is more profitable in each season, how much you'll make and etc My current stimate is on the million per crop batch just cuz I'm lazy lol
Love the villain design! Haira has a regal look to her and could definitely be a character in your story if you ever wanted to incorporate a sister or family member for Pariah into the plot

My computer can't support loads of mods but I installed the auto fishing because I hate the fishing minigame and a mod to change Elliott's sprite because his sideways picture sucks. My chests are never sorted and my animals are all over the place because I can never figure out where to put their area.
The chest mod makes it to where it goes into the chest where the item is and can craft right from your UI and don't need to find where the items are. Very handy

I started a Stardew journal for tips and stuff I learn during my first run through. I do also let my animals roam free but only cause I feel bad fencing them in.
And im the i mod everything with my 600 mod dpnt ask how i make it work i just pass 3 hour when something break to find it and fix it but damn is it worth it for the massive content all the mods add

There's the "simple" player like me who just plays the game and doesn't do meta, lots of mods, or fill their farm up entirely. I do just 1 deluxe barn, and 1 deluxe coop, fill the greenhouse with ancient fruit eventually, and have maybe 3-4 IR sprinklers worth of crops in the outdoor garden. For mods, it's usually only QoL mods like removing the fishing minigame, and stopping time while indoors. And yes, wiki running in the background, especially during the first year of a new save, because I can't remember when and where every fish is caught, nor can I remember everybody's gifts.

the way i play stardew i would perhaps call "Mining Madness" because i only care about the skull cavern. i have played this game for years and never bought a single animal. every day i warp to the desert, consume a spiced eel, and head into the skull cavern. it's all that matters to me.
I think the modders marrying Shane thing is a rectangles and squares situation. Not all modders marry Shane, but all people who marry Shane are modders (or wish they could be).
In my defense I never have to worry about my animals going hungry or where to get wood. I currently have 12 stacks of max wood just waiting in standby. And if unorganized chests is just a symptom of dumping items in chests to move around quicker.

I go for a compromise. They get their own large fenced in space so that the rest of the grass I planted to look pretty is safe.
