Back to the Future the Ride - Final Day 2007

- In a remastered, long delayed video, we go back to March 30, 2007 in what would be the final day of operation for the Back to the Future attraction at Universal Studios Florida.
Some things to point out are the original location of the locomotive from BTTF3 and Delorean outside the gift shop.
I hope this video does provide a wonderful look back at a very missed attraction among theme park goers.
That’s me directly in front of you, and my late parents who passed in an accident 6 years ago and I’m with my two younger sisters. Another family stumbled across this today and we were totally caught off guard. What a nice memory of just normalcy.
Sorry about your loss
Sorry about your loss
Deeply sorry for your loss. This is indeed, a small world
The fact that this 2007 footage looks like it was recorded in the 1990s is crazy. I feel old now.
They probably were using the same cameras from the 1990s. HD cameras didn't really become a popular thing until around the late 2000s/Early 2010s with smartphones.
@@TheBigExclusivetrue
me too man
Yeah DV cameras still ran on tape mostly back then and outputted at 480p at best, HD (720p) cameras were very expensive still. I have similar footage from 2005 and it’s not much better than my dad’s footage from 1990 😂
Why do people act like , The 1990s and 2000s are so far from eachother.
They should've kept the ride operational until October 25th, 2015, the day the ride takes place. I went to Universal Studios for the first time in 2010 so unfortunately I never got the chance to ride it.
Damn that seriously sucks that a LOT of people never had the chance to experience the original classic universal studios rides and shows. 😲😩 This was indeed a super fun ride. My family (well more specifically my mother) made it a yearly tradition that me and my sister went every summer before the school year started. And know that I'm a mom I bought my son and I am annual pass so we can go whenever we want now. (Passes to ALL surrounding theme parks actually) just to be sure he doesn't miss out on anything.
But how often do you get to go now?
@@biancacdakitteee7161 I've only been to Universal Studios twice, first time in 2010 and second in 2018. It was the one in Hollywood.
@@FastCarsNoRules220 ooooooh wow, now is that by choice? Or you want to go more often but can't due to "different life situations". Because for me there has been quite a few times where I've wanted to go to Halloween horror nights, but the situation would be either a) I had the time and transportation but not the money, or b) I had the money but no way to get there. (At the time I lived in the next city over from Orlando, I didn't have a car, and not many "friends" who was interested as I am or they was just absolute chicken shit and afraid of haunted attractions. So therefore I missed out. Ive only been to HHN event 2 times in my life, but I went to the park to ride rides and see the shows AAAAALL the time. So is your situation like either of those?
There are so many rides like this one that I wish I had gotten the chance to ride… its crazy how much I can miss something I never had/did. The best part about these videos for me is the walk on/off to see what the whole place really looked like
@@AndrewPLovesMusic oh yes I definitely agree with that last sentence you put there. I enjoy looking at how the old queue line used to be like. And the souvenir shops too. So much good feeling nostalgia there.
My first ride at Universal back in 2000, definitely a favorite. There was no line so our parents let us ride it over and over again.
It amazes me how good Tom Wilson is in this. The way he portrays Biff in the entire franchise just shows how remarkably talented he is. Thank you 🙏🏾 Tom!
I mean the Simpsons ride is good but this does seem a little better. I’m sad I never got to ride it.
A little? Lol this is one of the best things to ever exist. The Simpsons don’t hold a candle to it
@@Bloodyknukelzz fr
I got to ride this a couple yrs before they got rid of it and honestly it was badass. I never keep up w/ the Amusment Park changes so I was a bit surprised to find out they got rid of it a couple days ago.
@@Bloodyknukelzz it does actually it's my fav ride you stoopid don't do anything my cuz can hack your acc
Agreed
I’m sooo sad I never got to go on this!!! 😭😭😭
Me too!! Too bad I was born too late. I absolutely love this movie!!
Me three!
Me to because I was born in 2013
Same
Same, I went to America for the first time in 2009. Missed this ride by 2 years.
I remember absolutely loving this ride as a kid. I really wish they would bring it back! At least it is possible to "ride" it in VR now a days, obviously not the same experience but it's still something :)
It would be cool of for a couple of days they would change the video on the Simpsons Ride to show Back to the Future. Or maybe when they close The Simpsons ride they can bring back Back to the Future, bit that probably won't happen.
I got to ride it spring break in 1996. I was blown away at how cool it was.
Lemme just make a time machine and go back in time to ride this ride
(Opens Door) Hop in!
We can all think about that at the same time. Only if it were real.
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lol
Wish you were there. It was dope. You could flip switches and push buttons as you were riding. It really was the Dopest things ever.
@@EmmettLBrown2015 this Is some serious shit doc
I was there working that final day. Enjoyed all my years working at the Institute of Future Technology, we had a great team!. Was there from 2004-closing. I'm pretty sure that's me at the 1:29 mark at Queue Control (splitting queue line up to the different levels). Was cool seeing so many former coworkers in this, great video!
As someone who's a big fan of this ride (so much so that it was typically the first attraction I'd hit up whenever I visited the park back then), its very cool to hear from someone who worked there!
How hectic was it during those last few months of operation with only one dome running and all of the potential closing dates being thrown around?
@@andrews.8691 the last few weeks were pretty busy but surprisingly the months leading up to its closure (post announcement) weren't as busy as most of us expected, even operating with one dome and at times only two levels open.
Fun fact: the holding room door code is still the same with the Simpsons as it was with BTTF. At least it was the last time I tried it a couple years ago, lol.
@@FamousAtticusJS When I went on Simpsons the other day (it was one of the first shows in the left/north dome that morning), they kept the holding rooms unlocked and let us open the doors ourselves without a TM coming over to do the usual "watch your monitor" spiel, it was strange. They weren't doing it to be rude, I just think they may have been understaffed that morning as I saw no more than two employees on the second floor.
@@FamousAtticusJS Whenever the ride went down while at half capacity, would it result in a full shutdown of the attraction? Sorry about the questions, but I really loved this ride lol
@@andrews.8691 Nope. We would just take down that particular dome and continue operations. During the slower seasons we wouldn't ever use the 3rd level at all.
My ex and I went to Universal in 2010 and I bragged about how amazing this ride was. He was a HUGE fan of Back to the Future. I almost died when I found out the ride was gone. We were both extremely bummed the rest of the day. I wish they’d bring it back.
Glad the ride kept Alan Silvestri to compose the music here. It’s not the same without him or this ride in general!
I really hope they actually bring this ride back one day.
Somehow.
Preferably in Orlando, for me.
Thank you so so much for this. I am a scenic artist at UO, and I just started working in the work area which includes Simpsons. I never got to experience BTTF myself, so I had no idea what the queue looked like for that attraction. This video actually shows the EXACT holding room I’m painting in tonight… so glad I got to see some history in this video. Thank you thank you thank you!
Growing up in Southern CA, I used to get a season pass to Universal every summer. Little did I know that one day in the summer of 2006, when I was 16 years old, I would ride this ride, and not even know it would be the very last time ever. :'(
At least you got to ride it

yutube is the next best thing to a time machine
THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS
I remember the first time I went to Universal Studios, I was 5 years old and this was the first ride I love. I love Back to the Future so much, I even imagined myself as Doc or Marty riding the Delorean. I even wanted a Delorean when I was a kid. Seeing this video makes me cry so much, all of the fond and awesome memories of Back to the Future ride will forever be cherished.
I was on that ride with friends who had a day off from their job (disney imagineers) and they humbly admitted that ride was the best ever (don't tell disney I said you that)
as the ultimate disney fan, it was hard for me to leave walt disney world for a whole day at universal but I loved every minute of it, especially THIS ride and E.T. and american graffiti
oh and also the atmosphere around the jaws ride, like it's the 4TH july every day of the year
jurassic park wasn't there yet, let alone harry potter so thank you so much for the lucky ones who share their experiences by posting them on yutube, thanks a million
I’ve been wanting to go on this ride for so long but I wasn’t around to... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (Also... anyone else notice during the last sequence before the ride they spelled Delorean with an I?
30:10 Who here freaking laughed at the "OH MY GOD I JUST PEED A LITTLE!!!!"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

This need to be a meme ! 🤣
PREDICTED KUNG FU PANDA 3
I did
I really hope they remake it somehow for nostalgia reasons.. I love the Back to the Future movies
Ah... so this is what the original ride was, I always knew this was a ride, but I never knew this is what the ride used to be before the Simpsons ride. I’d actually ride this ngl, BTTF was a great movie.
“No photography is permitted during this ride” *continues to record anyways*
its flash photography they are referring to.
@@MrDylan1997-Official yet the sad thing is, I heard that on the Simpsons ride, no photography of any kind PERIOD! And, yet people will still record that ride as Well.
I don't think they would of cared at that point. The ride was closing down anyway
@@MrDeadhead83 Yeah true
@@MrDylan1997-Official oh ok
I pray that that Universal brings back this ride or makes a new building with just one dome for this ride

Will never happen since the ride idea is old
Now that Disney owns the Simpsons, we may see their land gone. Let's hope so.
why did it close down
Francesca’s World it was old and worn out
I LOVE BACK TO THE FUTURE AND IM SAD THAT I NEVER GOT TO GO ON THE RIDE MAN!

Can somebody hold me back from laughing so hard please

It was a sad day. I like your buddy’s EPCOT Center vintage T-shirt. I was able to to ride BTTF the last ride, last day in Hollywood.
I only got to ride this once and unfortunately I don't remember much about the ride itself. However, I do remember being blown away as I came off the ride. If only universal would bring this back. It is a timeless ride (no pun intended) and would be enjoyed by all generations.
Such a good movie series. Such a cool ride. Thanks for posting.
I always made sure to do this, the lines were incredibly long, for a short ride, but this was always my favorite thing to do, and something I miss a lot.
Ride this twice in the same day back in 1990. It was amazing!
My first time at Universal was in 2010 and I became a huge BTTF fan in 2020 (I was born in 2000)
I wish I could’ve gone on this ride, cried throughout the whole video, very happy to see the energy of everyone saying goodbye to it
I was super bummed when I found out this existed where Simpsons is now and I wish Universal hadn’t shut it down, considering everything related to the franchise still is a huge success
Hopefully they bring it back someday 😭
I didnt get to visit universal for the first time until 2010 for the opening of the wizarding world of harry potter so i am quite sad i missed getting a chance to ride this as it looks so much fun and back to the future to me is an institution. I cannot believe they closed it.....
I rode this in Hollywood back in 96. It was a remarkable exper6fir a small child. Thank you for this footage!
This was the best ride at Universal .
the most
I preferred Kong, but it is gone too. Over at Islands the Spiderman rides blows all of them away 😎

Man this brought back memories. I went on this ride back in the late 90s, I still ha e fond memories of that trip.
So cool that these folks from all parts of the U.S. could come together to enjoy it lmao and Pee themselves a little.

Same here.
4 days before the ride closed I got to ride it. I'm 22 now and they need to bring it back
Loved this ride! It's hilarious hearing that guy through the theater XD Very Firesign
How does this Video only have 198k views. It really deserves more. I couldn't expierience this ride but this video sure is fantastic, I could just imagine being there!
God look at all those old phones
Thank you for this video!!! :-)
I’m from Denmark and have visited Universal Studios twice (thus far) Like millions of others, BttF is one of my all-time favorites (if not THE favorite) from my childhood! Like fine wine it’s only gotten better.. with_time (see what I did there?) This video here was amazing to see!
It BAFFLES the crap outta me, that they would ever replace this ride!? I mean, sure, if it wasn’t popular any more or if the movies had fated out of the publics consciousness (lol, as_IF) But these films are as popular as EVER, and they mean more than ever. When I think of Universal, BttF is at the forefront of my mind. WHY remove it from the park? Like, what’s the real logic behind that decision??? The way I see it, there was already so very little CLASSIC stuff left in the park (I believe E.T ride is the only thing remaining of the classic era, at this point?)
Don’t get me wrong, cause I DO very much enjoy the Simpsons ride, but it’s still just an all-out COMPUTER generated ride, whereas the BttF-ride was truly classic “movie-making”, with the entire ride-video utilizing a practically crafted set-piece, in “miniature-form”, of Hill Valley. The work that went into making THAT had no doubt been immense!
BttF feels like the crown-jewel of Universal; their proudest achievement to this very day… And they just SCRAPPED it! Makes ZERO sense to me :-( No wonder it was cloudy and rainy on that last day of operation, cause what a sad day it must’ve been :-(
Anyway, thanks for the documentation of it! Really amazing to see :-)
The flip phones!
Same reaction lmao
They are back!
The box TV's!
I faintly remember riding this ride. Good memories
I remember loving this ride and being completely terrified at the same time. I believe the first time I rode it I was 5.

This was my all time favorite ride...they even made waiting in line bearable. I couldn’t believe when I heard it was gone. Such a shame, the ride was a real adventure. What the hell were they thinking?

I feel honored to be able to have ridden this before they got rid of it.
I remember going on this ride, I think the last time I went on this ride before it closed down was either 2005 or 2006 & it was actually quite a fun ride just a shame it got closed down, the only disappointing thing like all theme parks have are the bloody queues. I would love to go back to Florida at some point in the future for a holiday as It's my favourite holiday destination
Ahhh wow this looks grt fun
..shame it closed down
..please bring this back somewhere maybe uk...I sure would love to ride this!!
I remember when I was a kid, finding it kinda strange that the narrator for this ride sounded a lot like Hacker from Cyberchase. But this was decades before I learned that they were played by the same actor.
Thanks! Now I know what it was (mostly) like!
I have been on this ride more then 20 years ago and I am glad I did so sad that all goods things come to an end
