I have one of these air conditioners for my home and it is for a bedroom. If i want to use it for any other room I have to have a fan and leave them all on over night so it can get "ahead" of the heat. No way I believe this would cool a tent outside smh
I have a portable, it has a plastic bag over it because I'm not wasting $300. Right now I've got a 5,200 BTU window unit giving me shivers, and that's after 18 years and a drop from a second floor window. GE makes one hell of an AC.
It probably shouldn’t have been rented because it is an indoor unit, but anyone who does sales knows exactly how that call went - defendent: “it’s meant to cool a room this size indoors, ma’am” plaintif: “it doesn’t matter- this is last minute- I just need something for my guests. Does it cool a 10x20 space. Defendant ”yes, it’s made for a 10x20” plaintiff: great, I’ll take it!”
Both parties seem unreasonable. I'm sitting here thinking, what on earth would compel that woman to have her shower outside if the heat bothered her that much? I'm so puzzled by that. She just made things harder for herself. The defendant renting that tiny AC is criminal. I'm thinking it's a huge unit but that little thing??? What on earth is happening here? They're both weird.
I just happened to find prank boxes to put stuff in for the baby shower my daughter had. I found one box depicting a photo frame of baby's first diaper with a poo in it (it's an empty box of course) and my favorite was The Baby Crib Dribbler which was depicting a giant gerbil/hamster/guinea pig water bottle attached to the crib. I seriously recommend looking up the prank boxes. there's a bunch of them. All thanks to our walmart and town not having gift boxes that time of the year.
I honestly believe him about the tent being bigger than she said. Unless there were only a few people there, a 10x20 tent is NOT big enough to have a whole baby shower under. Edit: I saw the picture of the tent and it is DEFINITELY bigger than a 10x20.
What person with connected brain cells would ever think that this little tiny portable AC unit would even come close to cooling a tent outside? Please!
@@NellieKAdaba I’ve been pregnant 4 times. Yeah you get uncomfortable and hot, but people who throw around “I was pregnant…” that many times are just wanting to get extra points on their side.
First, the humidly will fill the a/c unit and the condenser will shut off until the water level goes down while the fan keeps running. To stop this from happening, you have to drain the unit with a hose while operating it or have a extra tank that attached to the a/c unit that you empty when full. Second, that is a one hose unit that takes the cold air from the room to cool the condenser and expels that air outside. This is not an efficient unit. A two hose unit is better because it uses outdoor air to cool the condenser which allows a larger inside area to cool. I have an old Danby 2 hose portable a/c that cools all of my 1 bedroom apartment. I would never use a 1 hose a/c unit as it also creates a negative air pressure/flow that will cause all outside air in through cracks, outlets, and spaces around doors and windows that are not sealed. A 2 hose unit will create a positive air pressure/flow keep outside air from coming in. Still good to seal doors and windows. Anyways, those a/c units don't work for that type of tent. You can get small, battery run a/c units now for camping tents, but they are very expensive at around $1000.
The defendant should be happy the plaintiffs are honest ppl and actually cared about their contract they signed. They could’ve left it there at their event place after the baby shower was over or left it outside after they took the tent down. It could’ve gotten stolen tbh but good thing they took it w/ them so they could return it to him. Yet he wants to call the police and say they stole it lol. Yea he thinks the world revolves around him and he should’ve been on time and back at the event by 4:30pm.
I was in the military and when we deployed we had some really big hvac units but those were beasts...(Air Force) So in the desert all our stuff was cooled off nicely. Poor Army guys :(. Anyway. I have 2 portable ac units in my house. And it keeps it comfortable in a room as long as you get it for the next bigger size room you need. They do an OK job but outside in a tent with no insulation? Depending on the color of the tent that thing will roast. I haven't listened to the video yet but if the guy told them that it wasn't big enough or he told them that it would work the same in the tent as in a room then it is on him. But common sense would say that you need a much bigger unit than the tent you have because no insulation, sun baking the tent and multiple bodies heating the place up...And if I remember right they say it will cool down a room to a certain temperature as long as the ambient temp is not above a certain amount.
The judge is so off base on this one. There is no way an air conditioner set to cool a 10 x 20 would be able to cool a 20 x 40! They weren't "trying to scam" him but they should NOT get all of their money back. Wrong, just wrong!
@stormcrider17 thanks for this info. I thought the case was during cov- apocalypse. And everything HAD to be outdoors. They should have had an indoor party. LOL
This is a case where specifying the unit size is useless unless you include all the variables. There are far too many calculations to do it properly and the costumer understanding all of it is not going to happen. What should happen is an evaluation by the contractor to determine the correct size.
The defendant is a scammer. How do you, with a good conscience, rent a $400 machine for $298, something that wouldn't cool a 10x10 room. He didn't show up at the end like agreed and (oh, what entitlement) thought everyone should accommodate him by leaving the machine until he finally did show up (also obligating the hotel). NO one should do business with him. No wonder he didn't want his full name or business mentioned. At the end, he calls himself an easy-going guy.
We should go back to the beginning where she admits telling him the tent was 10x20 and it really wasn’t. The defendant should have just bailed right then.
Would have been better, and less expensive, to run a portable evaporative cooler. Especially for an outdoor event in a tent link this. A/C is only for fully enclosed finished rooms and areas.

The defendant was definitely in hot air.
I see a lot of people talking about how the unit wouldn’t cool the big tent, their complaint was that it wasn’t blowing cool air.
It was but they likely didn’t secure the exhaust like most idiots with those and blow the heat right back in
Hold up… He says the machine costs $400. He rents it out for the day for $298? I’m in the wrong line of work.
The guys facial expression in the back! 😂 9:13
😂😂
The judge was messy for that “he must not make you feel very secure” comment💀😭
How will it work if its hot out and tent is wide open...lol
The AC unit sensed the day, the weather, the humidity and said no way I'm working today.
I have some experience with those portable units and they suck, they don't blow!
It's July. That's New York.the humidity is different. Imagine being in Louisiana 😅;
Omg why only one for a whole tent full of people. But that seems expensive for just hiring one .
I have one of these air conditioners for my home and it is for a bedroom. If i want to use it for any other room I have to have a fan and leave them all on over night so it can get "ahead" of the heat. No way I believe this would cool a tent outside smh
Why do ppl buy these instead of a window unit?
I have a portable, it has a plastic bag over it because I'm not wasting $300.
Right now I've got a 5,200 BTU window unit giving me shivers, and that's after 18 years and a drop from a second floor window.
GE makes one hell of an AC.
That’s not for that! 🤣
This woman loves using her pregnant card. I count a dozen times she said pregnant.
The plaintiff has some gorgeous hair.❤
True, that's why I like when people don't cover their hair unless they have a hair day. I like to admire people's hair.
Outrageous price. The should have known how big it was
Both parties seem unreasonable.
Defendant is unbelievable.
That small $400 unit cooling an outside tent in July heat .. who in their right mind would pay $275 for that???
throwing yourself a second baby shower? Tacky, tacky gift grab
They rented that!? They could have bought one for cheaper.
😂😂😂. Who cares if it was a nice day? Your unit didn’t work dude so you breached the contract.
What person with connected brain cells would ever think that this little tiny portable AC unit would even come close to cooling a tent outside? Please!
The amount of times she used the pregnancy card makes me think she absolutely is the type to make all this up.
But, it's true most pregnant women are hormonal, I think, and she was emotional.
This isn’t the worst of them but why oh why does the judge have to yell and be so loud and kind of crazy and not listen to the people every case??
they really thought a bedroom AC unit was gonna cool the outside? in july?
The defendant is an entire mess
Air conditioner?!? He hardly knew her.
Why would anyone plan an event like a baby shower or even a wedding outside in July? You’re just asking for a disaster.
LOL actually renting those out. I have a 12000 BTU one that just cools my small living room. Its a better brand and they're only $400ish on Amazon.
Aired 11/6/12
@stormcrider17 thanks for this info. I thought the case was during cov- apocalypse. And everything HAD to be outdoors. They should have had an indoor party. LOL
@@Qjamzthe camera quality and the youth of the judge showed that this had to be early 2010s. I would’ve guessed 2010
@@yung1717 My Android phone has the same AMAZING PIXEL camera QUALITY from 2010. Lol
wow that means her kiddos are already almost teens! time goes by so fast 😢
hope her family is happy and healthy
I had one of these freestanding air conditioners and it did not work with a darn.
This is a case where specifying the unit size is useless unless you include all the variables. There are far too many calculations to do it properly and the costumer understanding all of it is not going to happen. What should happen is an evaluation by the contractor to determine the correct size.
This guy is insane. Why would you leave the machine there when your responsible. There is a screw in this guy's head
On a positive note: the plaintiff has good hair 😂
Alright
I hate when ppl use babies as excuses
strange the portable ac was not check out in the precinct if they did meet there.
Wow! I guess they all wanted to be on The People’s Court!😂
By the second sentence out of the defendant’s mouth I could tell how this was going to go 🙄
