Angelina performed several songs in the late afternoon and was to be followed by Norah Jones later in the evening. Angelina wanted to stay for Norah Jones performances and had already changed her dress into more casual clothing. The organizers of the event and Norah Jones asked her if she could perform one more song since Norah was not quite ready to go on stage yet. Norah Jones tours with her family and she treats Angelina as her family member.
Last week I had to have an MRI of my spine. I was going to spend some time in the tube and the radiologist asked me if I wanted him to play some music and wear earphones in the machine. Of course I wanted earphones and music. He asked what kind of music I like and I told him Angelina Jordan. He said he never heard of her. I told him just to play any r&b or jazz he found on his computer. He gives me earphones and settles me just in front of the opening of the imaging machine. In I go with the earphones and first thing I hear is Angelina Jordan singing. I start laughing and the radiologist looked at me and laughingly said, “I have a playlist of all her music and you’re the first to ask for her”. He was rather excited to share his Angelina music. We bonded over an MRI and Angelina.
It was fun.

this little one got guts, singing in front of that many people. The ultimate professional.
Angelina is so at home on the stage. She has said that she goes into her own world and doesn’t want to leave. When she sings I go into my own world and I don’t want her to stop either. She is not an anxious person, at least as a performer. I have seen her master her stage, from a sole performance of Funny Valentine on a chair at home, to rehearsals, to festivals and quite large audiences. As she says, she is not nervous, she is excited.
I think singing is a gift she gives to us and 10 to 100,000, there is no difference.

Now THERE is a meeting of (eventual) equals: A current jazz vocal legend asking an upcoming vocal legend (only 12 years old at the time) to join her show. Norah Jones has cemented her place in musical history, she does not have to worry about upcoming competition - she is more likely to see a future companion in music.
Angelina's shy wave before the music starts is typical - then the music begins and takes over. When the music is done, she quietly transforms into a timid 12-year old with another shy wave...

i believe the title is a little misleading. i think angelina performed 5 songs at this concert where norah also performed. norah was curious about what got angelina into jazz. she listened backstage to angelina's performance and invited angelina to her room. angelina said that she was impressed that norah traveled with her kids and made angelina feel like part of her family... trust me - everybody who is anybody in this industry wants a piece of her...thank god for her SHIELD

Nora Jones already knew Angelina in 2017. I only discover her in February of 2021.
Nora was nice to invite Angelina to sing in the 1st part, but it won't be long before we see the two singing together.
I love them both, but Angelina will surpass Nora as she is the best singer today.

I just knew that Angelina must have performed this song many times after her first performance at age 9. Thanks for finding this gem. However, I must admit that her first version is still the best. She just let it all hang out in that music studio.
In this interpretation she has a lot of merit. Amazingly, she sang in front of 40,000 real people in one take and with nerves of steel. Impressive! . She has always been very brave and charming from a very young age and here she proved it once again. 🥰🥰🥰

The more I listen to this version of I put a spell on you. I think I am starting to like it more than the first version.
The first version she wouldn't have knowen about protecting her voice as much. OK I only like this version more because Angelina be protecting her voice more. I always notice now, just after she finish singing the first version of, I put sell on you, she starts licking her lips, and swollowing as if she might have hert her throut a little.

I have Norah's album "COME AWAY WITH ME" from back in 2002. I love it. Norah's voice is so sweet, and calming. She's the best of the jazz singers from that era. Angelina was so fortunate Norah took a liking to her.
