    I love the aesthetic of your build- your use of wood is fantastic- but it is the execution of your work, so well shot and put together, that makes it obvious this channel is destined to massively blow up. I would definitely measure the current draw from the battery with this setup and do some math before depending on it for a full day of injection molding. Anything where you're intentionally generating heat means super high power usage. Regular car batteries are really optimized to put out short bursts to turn over an engine then immediately get charged again. Sustained power draw can damage them. It would suck to get there on the day and drain your battery after only a few parts (and then be left with a dead car battery to boot!). You might want to look into deep cycle lead batteries, or invest in some LiFePO4 cells.
    Love the videos dude! Looking at some other comments I really appreciate you cutting out the solder on crimped wire part to not accidentally give bad advice. Really speaks to the respect you have for the audience

    awesome project. Let me have one smartass comment: Don't put solder on wires you are about to crimp/clamp. The reason: The solder is never totally solid an will give over time, so the contact gets worse over time and resistance might increase and with that heat and it might become a fire hazard one day. This btw is an official rule to follow for electricians in Germany ;) Ok enough preaching, I'm looking forward to the injection molding video :D

How bad are the bad ones? Well, they catch on fire. I STRONGLY recommend anybody attempting this kind of project sped $40+ on a quality one from a reputable source.

    • @EvanMonsma
      @EvanMonsma  3 дня назад +1

  • @AndyBanner
    @AndyBanner 6 месяцев назад +1

    You should never solder wires and them crimp them. The crimp is designed to clamp down on loose strands, displacing and crushing them into a form. It cannot do this with a solid solder-covered wire. Additionally, the points where the solder peter out and it becomes strand again is a very weak point and is likely to break. Either way, you may suffer poor electrical conductivity though this which could cause arcing and/or fire.
    Buy yourself a proper set of ratchet crimpers. Those multi-tool crimpers are beyond useless.

    • @EvanMonsma
      @EvanMonsma  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the pointers! I trimmed out that one clip so I'm not putting out any bad info. It felt stronger to me but good to know that isn't actually better over time. And yes, the dumb crimpers suck lol, that was probably part of my problem in feeling the crimps weren't good before
