- Poland is ready to host nuclear weapons if NATO wants to reinforce its eastern borders against Russia. President Andrejz Duda said the Warsaw-Washington talks were about the idea of nuclear sharing. Andrew Hilliar takes a closer look at where the alliance currently keeps the weapons. Mark Owen speaks to Kristine Berzina, Managing Director, Geostrategy North at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, about NATO and the nuclear deterrent in the Ukraine war.

Japan doesn't have nukes and also South Korea.
@@IsaacLuna-hl3dd South Korea did under a nuclear-sharing agreement with the US until the mid-90s before a pro-North Korea party took power and bowed out of the treaty. So the nukes were returned to the US.
Now the current government is lobbying hard to bring it back given the regional tensions.
Japan for its part maintains nuclear potential. Essentially they have a sprint capability to generate a bomb in 100 days if need be. It sort of a weird compromise between deterrence and complying with Article 9.

The violation of the Budapest memorandum made it clear that you should never give up nukes if you got them, and get them if you haven't already.
The trouble always started from Eastern Europe, for this reason I would not like Poland to have nukes, they are already quite powerful with f35s and acquired most modern western weaponry.

It makes sense because they are more closed to Russia. To reduce flying time means reduce chances to intercept. That's why Russia has moved them to Kaliningrad and Belarus. Try and understand that what the Russian government actually wants & does are different from what the Russian government says. This has always been the case. We all know already that Russia isn't going to start a nuclear war & if you take a second to think about it then you know this too, but they sure do love hinting at it. But you should also know they hint at it 10x as much on your state TV as they do to the rest of the world, it's just fairy tales to hype up the masses...
The problem is that its been hinted at _so often_ now that Russia has completely lost its credibility when it comes to nuclear threats, which is why Poland is now asking for nukes literally _just to shut up Russia,_ they won't actually want to use them (obviously) but they dont wanna listen to Russia's pathetic threat's anymore either. Having nukes would make it possible for them to simply respond with "shut the f- up, we have nukes too" 🤷♂😂
That's really all that is going on here, Russia knows this too and despite what propaganda tv wants to tell you, your government is not going to do anything about it. Realistically nukes have been reduced to countries going "i have nukes, leave me alone" and nothing else, there are too many nukes and alliances and people in the tops of governments are much smarter than we like to think, the likelihood of any country ever using a nuke again is essentially 0%, because everybody knows that if they would launch one they would receive some back too. Russia knows this, America knows this, China knows this, the countries mentioned know this, Poland knows this, there will not be a nuclear war because people simply are not that stupid.
Try and understand that they are just riling you up with over dramatized propaganda tv, just take a few minutes to think about what i said, why would anyone want to destroy their own country by using nukes, nobody is that stupid and that includes your government. Relax comrade.
I don't see why Poland shouldn't have nukes, considering they have always been pointed at Poland from Kaliningrad for decades and Russian TV keeps repeating that they can be used any moment.

On a military level, the Taliban was militarily defeated in less than 2 months and they weren't even the primary target (Al Qaeda was). So in a military sense, they US could have easily stayed forever as a 'police force' for Afghanistan's democracy but there wasn't political will for it. Now Afghanistan's large economic growth under democracy is sliding backwards again.
