Can we appreciate how insane is kaido, watching every episode since he got assaulted by the scabbards really shows you how long he been fighting while lifting an island, he's not taking any break and I love that while being the strongest you still can see he gets hurt, Oda did a magnificent job with kaido. The best villain in one piece imo
The only struggle Kaido has been taking so far was slightly when Luffy learned to infuse ACoC and lifting the island. Everything else hasn't even phased him. That's how crazy ilhis endurance is.

This is probably the best animation segment I have ever seen in any anime episode. Vincent Chansard is absolutely insane. EDIT: I knew right away that people'd mention Demon Slayer. Yes, this particular short segment is animated better than anything I've seen in Demon Slayer, Fate, JJK or anything like that. I'm not talking about whole battles, just a single segment. It's a fully hand drawn scene & it's insane. DS & Fate's got amazing directing & composition. But in terms of animation, this single sequence is the craziest I've seen 'cause of the detail on Kaido + movement. Not even Uzui vs Gyutaro is as insanely animated as this. Saitama vs Boros is probably one of the best animated whole fights, but even there, the art isn't as detailed as here. When it comes to absolutely insanely detailed art within crazy animation, Vincent's done something I've never seen before in a single anime episode specifically. Let alone a weekly anime. (Things like detailed Kaido's scales during insane movement. I've watched 500+ anime in 10+ years, but I've never seen anything like that done on this level, in an episodical anime)
I love the way kaidos VA adds the element of pain and disdain in his voice, you can really hear it, especially when he does his battle cry. He's lamenting his own power

Vincent is truly incredible!!!! He's done a few scenes on this show now and they have all been absolutely amazing. The way he makes them look so smooth, detailed, and realistic is so unreal.
Got to hand it to Kaido. It's just fight after fight after fight and the man just keeps trucking on. Kind of puts it into perspective when we heard way back that Akainu and Aokiji's fight went on for several days, or how Roger and Whitebeard could clash for several days at a time. The protagonists are approaching that level of combat now.
I never get a clear answer on this but is it possible he's using the occasional models to stay consistent or is he just adding motion tweens to his roughs? Bahi JD for example will actually draw one element (Say the shape of a head) and move it around digitally for a few frames before drawing a new head shape which lets him pull off extremely smooth animation. It's a very simple trick that digital animators use. Others will use the occasional 3D models for positioning and lighting reference. (This merger of 2D/3D is all over Shingo Yamashita's work)

I'm just so glad Toei gave the series that gave them so much that extra special love it deserved for a long time. It's this type of unique direction for scenes that has me curious for the finale of Luffy VS Kaido! I don't watch the anime and I will never be a week to week watcher. BUT I can guarantee you that every single one piece fan will be glued to the screen when THAT moment happens. Just like with the Oden flashback I will stomache the anime for the duration of the finale, just to see what they do with the wacky stuff that'll happen then!

Also, with the Music and everything, the situation really feels dire, with everyone not being sure if Luffy returns or not
This arc only gets more hype from here so props to the animation team if they can keep it up. Also this kindof felt like a Star Wars showdown with the blue and purple lol.
