About the ending: I get your viewpoint, however, look at it like this: While worded very poorly, in essence it is somewhat right. Evil will always exist as long as good does, and vice versa. Ryou, hellbent on avenging his Master, didn't quite get what he ment to say in that specific moment. Yes, fighting is needed in order to stop evil, it was just that he knew that evil would return at one point and could never be truly defeated for good. This continued way later in the Gokaiger movie, accidental as it may be were Ryou meets that one guy that tried to commit suicid. There he gets confronted again with that very same concept: "Why can you all still be happy even when you know that sooner or later someone else is going to try to destroy everything?". His answer? "I can still live happily after my time as a Ranger because I know that somebody else is going to step up and continue where me and my friends left off." It's a very positive way to look at this, for both Ryous story up to this point as well as super sentais ever seasonal change in its main-cast. Just as evil is always lurking in the shadows there will always be those fighting for everything good and protecting the innocent. And those will be inspired by those that came before them which is the core-concept behind super-heroes in generall (Inspiring people).

sunkid02 Would you think it was probably risky about losing interest in the Zyuranger costumes during Season 3 and when they got to Zeo that left them with no choice but to change costumes?
Using the Dairanger suits could be easily explained same way with the White Ranger suit and the Thunderzords: Zedd arrived and destroyed the power source of the Zyuranger suits so it necessitated for Zordon and Alpha to create the Dairanger suits as a replacement. Popular rumor goes though Saban didn't take kindly to Kirinranger's drunken fist style and footages of the Dairangers busting mook balls when staff fighting like what Shishiranger did in Ep1.
Kou's perverted actions are pretty infamous, but he drops them shortly after he appears. Most people forget that. Having watched a few Sentai shows, I have noticed they have a pattern. After having the status quo for the first 12-18 episodes or so, the show introduces a new character, usually a villain, who shakes up the status quo. At 30-40 mark we typically see another serious character introduced to shake things up. Jetmen first introduced the boss of the villains the Vyram. She didn't stay around for long because one of the said villains helped the Jetmen kill her, but at the same time, said bad guy had a moment where he showed what an irredeemable monster he was. Also he got his hands on the egg for the super monster she was planning to hatch and used it himself. Later in the show, the kid of the Vyram turned himself into an adult because, he could just do that. As a kid he was the least effective of the villains, but as an adult he was easily the most dangerous. Zyuranger, the source material for MMPR, shook things up by introducing the Green Ranger. Even after he joined the team he was still a serious character, especially with the arc revolving around his approaching death. Dairanger first shook things up with Akomaru's introduction, thanks to how dark the plot involving him and Kou was. As you can probably also infer, the series took another step towards getting darker once Daijinryu showed up. Abaranger, the source material for Dino Thunder, introduced the White Ranger. The villains before him were mostly a bunch of goofballs who were hard to take seriously. He had some comedic moments, but overall he was a much darker villain who spent his early appearances easily defeating the Abarangers, not to mention his plots were a lot more dangerous. Later the show shook things up with the evil god the villains were worshiping. Said evil god had been present, not very active. When he did start getting more active, he actually forced the White Ranger into helping the Abarangers. Magiranger, the vastly superior source material for Mystic Force, did things differently and shook up the status quo by introducing a mystery girl the villains were after. She wasn't a villain, but she was entirely a serious character and the plot more serious with her introduction. Later in the show we had the counterparts to the Ten Terrors. These demon gods were still fought in a monster of the week fashion, but they were much more dangerous than previous villains with plots that focused on causing mass destruction. Not to mention the show's Cthulhu villain returned after they showed up. Boukenger, the superior source material Operation Overdrive (granted that isn't saying much) was weird and introduced three groups of villains in the first three episodes, the last one being a serious villain. But about a quarter through the series we got the most dangerous villains the Questers, whose plots focused were focused on killing all humans and making other people suffer.

Fun Fact. In power rangers Lost Galaxy, the Magna Defender used this sentai rangers transformation device. I just discovered this after looking at the henshin device. Such a cool device.
Ko's mom was played by the same actoress who is the commander in Jetman and the tranforming human tortoise is played by the actor who played Yellow olw in Jetman
I knew Kameo looked familiar when I first saw him and thought Yellow Owl. But wow, I didn't think Kou's mother and the Jetman's commander were the same but thinking on their appearance back (without Googling them), they do look the same after all.
Man, I never realised how many Dairanger things are like other things used for Wild Force. - Gorma Emperor XV's suit inspiring Master Org - Gorma Emperor XV's fishing in hell is like Jindrax fishing out Toxica in that one episode (Jindrax bought the fishing equipment using an ORG CREDIT CARD!!!) - Serpentera-- I mean Daijinryuu wanting balance is like Animus stating that he "doesn't fight for the rangers, but he doesn't fight for the orgs either" in that one episode where he took the wild zords away from them (even though Animus was clearly on the side of the rangers and it was all a test to see if they were fully committed to saving the Earth)..... kinda.... - Kou's mother dying is like Cole's parents dying in Wild Force - The Dairangers posing at the end unmorphed before battling Zaidos is like the Wild Force rangers posing unmorphed in their final battle with Master Org - That Tombstone-looking stooge looks like Tombstone Org in Wild Force - Gorma Emperor XV turning into clay is like Master Org turning into dust before he turns into his final form - The dragonballs-- I mean the RaiRai balls/jewels are like the power crystals the Wild Force rangers used for their swords and to pilot their megazords
I don't think so. If they used the Dairanger suits then they could have brought in the white ranger in alot earlier. When Zed destroyed the dino zords and zordon gave them the thunder zords he could have gave them the new suits to go with them saying the new zords needed new powers and they could have altered the suits and used the original morphers and made new power coins
dairanger just hit different compare to power ranger, you see every character have their own personal lives and it wasn't just about transforming and fighting monster all day
It IS Gorma though... Dairanger is hands down the greatest Sentai show of all time. It's the only one that has only 6 episodes of filler, each ranger gets a nice sub arc, and the fight choreography is top notch. Not to mention the mythology and mechs.
hmm I just realized this Kous mom lis played by Mikiko Miki who was the commander in Jetman and kou is the last fat guy in super sentai to be a ranger er... Jetman.. so now I'm convinced that Dairanger is either a sequal or an alternate dimension of Jetman
17:07 looks like the gouma stole imperial technology. Fortunately for them, Earth is far away from the empire so they won't have to deal with Lord Vader.
I believe that there were four different writers for Dairangers. I’m convinced each writer was told to focus on certain story arc and not worry about what the other writers were doing.
I hope that power ranger will make mini series for Dairanger. I agree, they have the best roll call of all time. Especially when they did the unmorphed roll call. Goosebumps!!!
Nathan Sanchez I don’t think Sentai was made as a children’s program because of how violent it is and the producers of Power Rangers must’ve had to have done some serious editing to make okay for kids to watch.
Saban had planned for the suits to be used in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy for their first early draft idea for their Lost Galaxy arc from what I heard, but production issues meant those plans had to change.
One of my complaints about Dairanger was that Ryou was such a dull red ranger! He never showed any real leadership skills until the end, he shows no actual personality, and nothing about him really sticks out from the main characters!
What's worse it's that there was a chance for him to be interesting with the whole conflict about his father.....but he only appears in two episodes and he's never mentioned again.
horaciosi my favorite episode is the two parter with him and jin.....but am I the only one who felt ryou...was kind of an asshole in it? He stops Jin from killing a few people of course but he acts so shocked at the revelation that someone could beat him like he is the greatest, and when there mentor tells him to stay away from him,he foolishly goes on ahead anyway, despite the fact his friends are being pummeled by the monster of the week.sure his training worked in there favor of defeating him,but it was still very dickish of him not being there for his team
I don't think Ryo's character is dull or has no leadership skills... I personally think that he is the most sincere and kind leader. In addition, he never tried to take all of the credits by himself but he wanted all of his teammates to have the credits too.
One thing that probably helped in Japan using Chinese myths is that Asian nations that aren't Chinese share many similarities. IIRC, Korea and Japan as we know today, spun off from Chinese migrants leaving to acquire new land. So it's going to make sense that they share a respect for similar myths.
Nope. The spoken languages cannot be farther apart as those two. And the stereotypes of Chinese are not exactly pleasing. Even in light-hearted media like Ranma 1/2, the attributes of Shampoo are anything but flattering. Aggressive
@@TehKaiser Wrong. Tons of Japanese have ancestry linked to China and Korea. Maybe do your research and research and realize that what language they speak has nothing to do with their common ancestry and cultures. Like, 10% is still only 10%. They share tons of myths and how they depict them. And the only ones disgracing Chinese today are the Chinese government. So no, they don't need anime to "flatter" them. They do a fine job of not flattering themselves by... Well... Themselves. Oh, and they also share similar kanji. So again, research.
@@KaiserTrigger The are numerous premises you are mixing together. So-called culture is not strictly tied to genetics. They gobbled up foreign western customs after 1868 real quickly and they really love their "Engrish"; katakana, which is used for foreign sounds, is ever present in media such as anime, Sentai, etc. "Culture" can change rapidly, sometimes every generation or less. The USA's culture is different now than it was in 1776. The culture they had prior to literacy is unknown. But what is known is that there are elements of introduction from the mainland combined with "local customs" to form this distinct historically observed culture now identified with Japan. They use Kanji in a manner where there is nothing grammatically in common with the written Chinese. Their genetic link has little to do with the usage of Kanji, since they were illiterate on the island. Even within "spoken Chinese", there numerous unintelligible languages tied to that one written script, and the commies have done their best to kill them all except the "common language", which is known as Mandarin. They have common ancestry, but there genome's have deviated sufficently such that the profile a Chinese can easily be distinguished from Korean or Japanese. Visually, it also is evident. Koreans have narrow eyes while Japanese males have slanted eyes. Language absolutely matters, sometimes just a dialect matters, just like with American Southerners. They open their mouth and some people think "bible-thumping racist hillbilly".
@@TehKaiser You've literally said nothing that disproves what I said about sharing a common ancestry. Again, do you research. They share common inherited things, like how they picture dragons and other myths. As well as things like shared common writing systems. Either do your research, or just get lost. I'm not interested in debating this with you since you literally are just spewing hot air.
No joke, when I first watched through this season, given how I'd heard that towards the end there were a lot of twists, I LEGITIMATELY thought that they were gonna reveal that Master Kaku is evil and that the Gouma was actually innocent. Less so on that last part as the show went on, but early episodes show the Gouma either only causing minor harm before the Dairangers show up or targeting their attacks towards the Dairangers from the beginning, giving credence to that theory.
Here's an interesting fact about Kou: his actor played young Burai in the previous season, Zyuranger. A funny coincidence, since both of them would act as counterparts to Tommy Oliver.
Those episodes are that easy because they're Star Wars. DOWN TO THE CAMERA ANGLES. Down to the force ghosts... He is literally Darth Vader, dude... LITERALLY. His music is the imperial march. He kills his evil master because he's killing his son with force lightning. i was on the floor laughing the first time... It was hilarious
I was curious about the original Japanese source material for Power Rangers, and watched a few episodes of different ones on the Shout Factory site. DaiRanger was the one that sucked me in to watch through the whole thing over a few weeks. It reminded me of some of the my favorite superhero comics from the ‘80s, as if Marv Wolfman and Roy Thomas could’ve written it.
I don't know if it's been mentioned before, sorry if it had, but it's not a tattoo that the kid has that his mother gave him to keep the villain away or whatever. It's a branding.
wheere can you watch this... i only have the last 10 episodes on dvd but i live in germany and those are in thai so im really desperate trying to find some subs
Late to the party on this one, but what’s one more comment in the mix? It’s been a while since I last saw Dairanger, but I have seen it twice and similar to Marcosatsu, I saw a fansub (that I can’t remember) and the Shout Factory DVD. In both of my viewings, I never got the impression that Master Kaku (or Dairanger as a show) was trying to say that fighting the Gorma was pointless. My memory is telling me that Kaku realized that as much as the Dai and Gorma hate each other, their Chi and Yo energies are two halves of the universe and thus are both necessary for it to continue on, hence the balance that Daijinryu enforces. It wasn’t the battling that stirred Daijinryu so much as the breaking of natural limits on power (like with Ikazuchi and Shadam recklessly using the Earth-Shattering Jewel), since he never showed up in the first Gorma-Dai war and only showed up at specific times during the one we see in the show. Kaku knew that everything would be better off if the two energies were in harmony with each other but also that the Gorma were never going to stop trying to conquer the world unless someone like him took the throne. When he told Ryou that both Chi and Yo must exist, he wasn’t telling him that the fight was pointless, but that it can never end because neither side can be entirely eradicated and, at the same time, are probably never going to see eye-to-eye; the best bet for peace seems to be sealing the Gorma away, but even that measure is only temporary (I mean, humanity COULD just submit to the Gorma too, but that would be bad for them…and the Gorma might go too far in their excessive lifestyle anyway). I never got the impression that Dairanger said that their conflict is pointless, but that their conflict is inevitable and unending. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s the vibe I always got from it.
The design of the suits and helmets were really well done and I completely agree with the only nitpick being the badge being too cheesy and sticking out
What would you consider the worst Sentai/Power Rangers mooks? I've been trying to decide for myself, but I guess determining what's a competent mook squad might be difficult on its own...

Good thing I got Dairanger in DVD , watched it all.

Start the series: History of Super Sentai. You should do other series.
This is pretty much History of Super Sentai.
Marcosatsu well keep it up, lord knows you’d be taking a load off Linkara’s shoulders
Megaranger and Goggle V?
Marcosatsu do timeranger

Ryo's Dad was obviously inspired by Darth Vader.
One of the episode focus on Ryo's dad, the background music sound very similar to the Star Wars theme
At least Darth Vader wasn't a throwaway character.
Great video macros dairanager was my third sentai and loved it I enjoy the arcs and it made me binge watch dairanager great show great toku Tenshi daaaaa
rip tatsuya nomi (shishiranger)
im your clone I met tatsuya nomi at a comic book convention last year I took a picture with him and got his autograph. I had no idea that he died I am so lucky to have met him before he died.
i want to commit seppuku still so sad it is
@@drummerboyperry25 wouw... You're so lucky to meet him. I am still shocked until now regarding his death 😭😭 it's just so sad.. 😭
If you don't mind, may you share about how did he look and behave when you met him??
I will watch this, after I'm done Dekaranger.
Fun Fact. In power rangers Lost Galaxy, the Magna Defender used this sentai rangers transformation device. I just discovered this after looking at the henshin device. Such a cool device.
I really enjoyed this video! Great work too. Please do a History of Zyuranger if you can. :)
I'm 21 episodes deep into dairanger. It's so cool seeing the white ranger fixed a little bit different way.
I just finished the show and now I'm gonna cry because I don't want it to end 😭😭😭😭

I really adored Dairanger it was my fav I loved everything about it
The Concept of LIght and Darkness being the same reminds me of KIngdom hearts where you can't have one without the other
It's a dumb concept.
It's basically the point of the taoist religion - everything is balanced.
SailorSetsuna and in harmony when balanced and that neither must be greater then the other
Ko's mom was played by the same actoress who is the commander in Jetman and the tranforming human tortoise is played by the actor who played Yellow olw in Jetman
I knew Kameo looked familiar when I first saw him and thought Yellow Owl. But wow, I didn't think Kou's mother and the Jetman's commander were the same but thinking on their appearance back (without Googling them), they do look the same after all.
Goo2Plex agreed 🧐

Man, I never realised how many Dairanger things are like other things used for Wild Force.
- Gorma Emperor XV's suit inspiring Master Org
- Gorma Emperor XV's fishing in hell is like Jindrax fishing out Toxica in that one episode (Jindrax bought the fishing equipment using an ORG CREDIT CARD!!!)
- Serpentera-- I mean Daijinryuu wanting balance is like Animus stating that he "doesn't fight for the rangers, but he doesn't fight for the orgs either" in that one episode where he took the wild zords away from them (even though Animus was clearly on the side of the rangers and it was all a test to see if they were fully committed to saving the Earth)..... kinda....
- Kou's mother dying is like Cole's parents dying in Wild Force
- The Dairangers posing at the end unmorphed before battling Zaidos is like the Wild Force rangers posing unmorphed in their final battle with Master Org
- That Tombstone-looking stooge looks like Tombstone Org in Wild Force
- Gorma Emperor XV turning into clay is like Master Org turning into dust before he turns into his final form
- The dragonballs-- I mean the RaiRai balls/jewels are like the power crystals the Wild Force rangers used for their swords and to pilot their megazords
I just realized that too in a way that’s the closest to a dairanger adaptation along with the white ranger suits
RC99 Productions yet him being a human to doctor man in bioman that use to be human that the villains don’t like
I do wish the Dairanger suits had been used in MMPR season 2 - though then you would've had the problem of two Green Rangers at the start.
Yeah, same.
There would also be the problem of White Ranger/ Tommy appearing to be shorter than everyone else in group shots.
The first mech is the red dragon zord
And the other mecha are the thunder zords
dairanger just hit different compare to power ranger, you see every character have their own personal lives and it wasn't just about transforming and fighting monster all day
It IS Gorma though...
Dairanger is hands down the greatest Sentai show of all time. It's the only one that has only 6 episodes of filler, each ranger gets a nice sub arc, and the fight choreography is top notch. Not to mention the mythology and mechs.
16:52 Hirihiko Araki must have watched Dairanger
This season blew my mind. Freakin love it and is a definite fav of mine. Also it's Gorma. And the minions look like the Slender men
hmm I just realized this Kous mom lis played by Mikiko Miki who was the commander in Jetman and kou is the last fat guy in super sentai to be a ranger er... Jetman.. so now I'm convinced that Dairanger is either a sequal or an alternate dimension of Jetman
43:38 hold up is that gameboy his mom was so cool before she hugged a rock
Thanks for this. I wish I could find tons more videos like this explaining senti. Lol
Please do this for zyuranger! Love this video
Oliver Valente me too 👿
Just finished dairanger and Man!!!!! I Love it :) I can't pick a favorite, all the rangers are awesome.
17:07 looks like the gouma stole imperial technology.
Fortunately for them, Earth is far away from the empire so they won't have to deal with Lord Vader.
I'm sorry but everytime I hear you say Akamoru i keep thinking of the dog in Naruto thats name Akamaru
PLEASE do more of these.
I believe that there were four different writers for Dairangers. I’m convinced each writer was told to focus on certain story arc and not worry about what the other writers were doing.
Same reason why I wanted to watch Dairanger.
This was one of my best of all time super sentai series.
I have Dairanger on DVD and it is awesome.
Awesome retrospective
That dragon looks so cool.
DaiJinRyuu has the same motive as Thanos with the whole balance thing
I have only seen The Super Sentai Series I have never seen power rangers
I hadn't seen sentai but I seen mmpr
I have seen both
I hope that power ranger will make mini series for Dairanger.
I agree, they have the best roll call of all time. Especially when they did the unmorphed roll call. Goosebumps!!!
Please do more super sentai
So.........Kiba is the first super hentai
Wait what.. what that actually means
@@Alteewzx hentai means pervert in japanese , kiba was a pervert. Make sense now?
I love this series and i’m still watching older sentai series
Nathan Sanchez I don’t think Sentai was made as a children’s program because of how violent it is and the producers of Power Rangers must’ve had to have done some serious editing to make okay for kids to watch.
Patrick Wilson not a fan of power rangers🙂
only257 Do you like Super Sentai?
Thanks for the recap love dairanger
It's Chi Power !!!!
the Gouma out outfits like something right out kink bar XD
I kinda wish that the Dairanger suits where adapted for the Dark Rangers in MMPR Season 2.
Saban had planned for the suits to be used in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy for their first early draft idea for their Lost Galaxy arc from what I heard, but production issues meant those plans had to change.
was a blast from start to finish loved all the episodes was great like mmpr
We can all agree mike had an aura changer. More likely a toy or extra prop. Also i liked so much how Ryo rides ryuosegioh.
Man this dude was my favorite red ranger next to Jason! He was a total badass which I loved.
I don't think Ryo's character is dull or has no leadership skills... I personally think that he is the most sincere and kind leader. In addition, he never tried to take all of the credits by himself but he wanted all of his teammates to have the credits too.
@@dewichristakobis1625 Having a kind character doesn’t always make a compelling character.
Jacob C. Mayer great ranger is the best sentai 😝
this was great i want history of kakuranger next go in chronoligical order
In terms of early 6th rangers kiba ranger is my favorite next to mega silver from mega ranger
Brutal! That’s the best explanation to be explained about crushing someone to death🤣
Here's an interesting fact about Kou: his actor played young Burai in the previous season, Zyuranger. A funny coincidence, since both of them would act as counterparts to Tommy Oliver.
This 50 Minute Vid was Worth It.
9:05 BEST CHILDHOOD EVER
I was curious about the original Japanese source material for Power Rangers, and watched a few episodes of different ones on the Shout Factory site. DaiRanger was the one that sucked me in to watch through the whole thing over a few weeks. It reminded me of some of the my favorite superhero comics from the ‘80s, as if Marv Wolfman and Roy Thomas could’ve written it.
16:47 oh Hi yellow owl from Jetman
I don't know if it's been mentioned before, sorry if it had, but it's not a tattoo that the kid has that his mother gave him to keep the villain away or whatever. It's a branding.
Daigo is my favorite Dairanger and favorite Green Sentai.
wheere can you watch this... i only have the last 10 episodes on dvd but i live in germany and those are in thai so im really desperate trying to find some subs
Shout factory has all the episodes subbed!
Dairanger was a true blessing.
34:57 where is this from? In this episode they talk another way
The design of the suits and helmets were really well done and I completely agree with the only nitpick being the badge being too cheesy and sticking out
man this was cool glad i found it .. I am planning to cosplay as the red dairanger ..
What would you consider the worst Sentai/Power Rangers mooks? I've been trying to decide for myself, but I guess determining what's a competent mook squad might be difficult on its own...
