Thanks for taking the opportunity to start discussing MES and ERP integration. However, from my experience, the integration concepts might be correct from a technical point of view but from content, business process requirements and the way MES systems are designed, this will not fly.

Please elaborate. MES and ERP are generally implemented over a long time with presence of outdated technologies in system. So any what way you will have to jump back and forth. Do you mean this ?

Great! Thanks a lot! I think this is a practical way to understand it.

Thanks Walker for the great explanations as always. What if we already bought a off the shelf solutions from Traksys for example, what then can you do from there? Scrap it all out and start again?

Hello great video !! Thank You i have few questions regarding the proposed integration strategy . Can we use uns as isa 95.06 messaging service model? , do You create handshakes mechanisms between mes and erp to be sure that each of those have received the information ? For example mes once have downloaded the work order response with order number to erp , or how do You control that the message is received for the expected subscriber and not another else in the ecosystem ? This also applies in mes to shopfloor integration thanks

    What's the difference?
Please don't tell me that your IIoT platform will discover suddenly the BoM. You build custom and custom means that if the erp or mes change you need to rework these connectors. If your scada system is isa95 there is no added value to have UNS aside. If we look correctly you're building a 3.0 architecture... you have exactly the same number of discrete connections and you need even an extra one for UNS wich in this case has no sense.
The point here is that there isn't clearly real solutions to connect erp or even mes to uns

Great video. If you ERP or MES is a non customisable SAAS. It wont necessarily have the fields/tables to display the data from the UNS. Since these are core applications, is it best they are platforms and possibly even open source for full customisation potential.

Can you use highbyte to do this?

Agreed. You also have Tatsoft's FrameworX, Tulip, and a handful of others
