- Piers Morgan has spoken out in defence of BBC presenter Fiona Bruce, who stood down as ambassador of domestic abuse charity Refuge after she made a legal clarification about an allegation made against Stanley Johnson on Question Time.
He's joined by domestic abuse survivor Rachel Williams, who says Bruce has been "crucified" by the press and social media and writer Larissa Kennedy, who thinks she should have been more careful with her words.

I listened to Fiona Bruce on QT, In my honest opinion, there was NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Offensive or wrong about what she said. She simply clarified the issue. She has nothing to apologise for. She simply repeated what other people had said. This reaction is completely over the top. Shame on her critics and shame on Refuge, for allowing her to step down. As for the part of her comment, "It was a one off", again this was simply what friends of Stanley Johnson had said. It was NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. This Larissa, is being childish, and quite honestly totally ridiculous. How the hell have we come to this? Fiona Bruce has represented Refuge for 25 years, that fact along demonstrates her stance AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. If the backlash against her is Woke, then you can stick it where the Monkey Sticks its Nuts, talk about Political Correctness gone wrong.

I am with Piers Morgan on this. I lived in a refuge as a small child for a short time, and I am upset that people have rushed to judgement against a blameless Fiona Bruce.
There's not judgement to be had she was stating as fact a legal fact she HAD to state. I'm not a fan of Lineker at all the fact Bruce has been thrown under the bus but Lineker still has a job is unbelievable. Morgan is wrong on his pal Lineker.

As a survivor of domestic violence watching QT I was not in the least offended or upset about Fiona Bruce’s comments. She was doing the job she was paid to do. I am far more upset that she has been unable to continue her association with Refuge. I am appalled at how current ideology is infecting our social constructs and distorting it. 4:58

When I was a kid there was a TV show called ‘Points of View’ where BBC viewers could write in to complain about their shows. Some of the people writing in provided constructive criticism but a large number of them were clearly just miserable attention seekers who were actively looking for opportunities to be offended. It was entertaining because there was an understanding that people complaining for the sake of it should not be taken seriously. In the age of social media, especially Twitter, seeking attention through complaining has never been easier and these types of people are not just being taken seriously, they are actually affecting people’s careers and that is a big step back for our society and culture.
Any sane, intelligent and fair-minded person would understand exactly why she commented the way she did . The actual fact that there is such a hysterical reaction is truly terrifying .

What the woman said to Fiona on the episode of question time about Stanley Johnson being a domestic abuser was the one in the wrong (can't think of her name) as he has never commented on the issue publicly, there is no way of her actually knowing that it is a fact, no real evidence, no conviction to an offence.

Firstly I'm not a massive Piers fan but you have to give credit were its due, we absolutely need more people like this not only in journalism but in society. The mere fact that the young lady is offended when Piers is trying to educated her about a business he's been in for a very long time speaks volumes, if more of these snowflakes opened up their ears and closed theirs mouths abit more they may actually learn something. Larissa has not shown that she understands that the sentence "It was a one off" was part of the quote from what the man's friends said. It wasn't Fiona Bruce's statement, and it wasn't even the statement of whoever gave her the information. It was a part of the statement from the man himself and if it had been left off, that would have been an incorrect quote.

As a journalist your job is to paint out the full story with all the details you can possibly know of, that is what she did. Nobody is saying "oh that's fine, it was just a one off", nobody in the right mind is excusing it so why the hell are they coming after Fiona?! It's grim and the other guest said it well that Fiona was also protecting the people she represents from legal issues. She was never agreeing with the defense, she was putting forward all the details she knew!

It's not even about journalism or her her opinion etc...... It was about legality and even then she didn't chose to say anything for legality on her own back but she was told to as a representative of the BBC..... Even then nothing wrong was said or taking a side, just purely covering the BBC legally......
