- Jewell Caples, known as Jewell was an American singer that has performed on multi-platinum R&B/Hip-Hop albums.
Jewell was signed to Death Row Records from 1992 to 1996
.In 1994, she covered Shirley Brown's song "Woman to Woman" which reached 72nd on the Billboard Hot 100, and peaked at #16 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs list.[3] She also released "Love or Lust," featured in Bill Duke's film, Deep Cover (mis-credited in movie end-credits as “Jewel”) and is featured on two songs on the 1994 Above the Rim soundtrack.
She has referred to herself and has been called "The First Lady of Death Row Records".
In 2011, Jewell co-authored and self-published a memoir authored with Felicia St. Jean titled My Blood My Sweat My Tears,[8] notably encouraging rumors of Dr. Dre's homosexuality and of people involved with Tupac Shakur's murder.

Im telling my story on every platform that gives Jewell her flowers. My dad used to date her back in the day. She picked me and my sister up in a Limo right on the block and took us to Magic Mountain. Barley got on 2 rides everyone wanted her autograph. My first ever time in a studio Jewell Took me! 🤨 I wasn’t saying it to take shots at her. I actually defended her on some other post when others were putting her down. I’m just being honest in regards to how her career was. It’s hard for me to believe that everyone at the park knew who she was, but then again, it wasn’t impossible being in Cali cause Death Row was huge at that time. Maybe her remake, W2W, was bigger up there. Some folks could’ve recognized her but…IDK. It was just hard for me to imagine that the scene played out like she said. Just seemed a little exaggerated. That’s all.

Death Row really dropped the ball with her! She had an amazing voice, but Suge never wanted to see her shine. He just wanted to use her on the every hook that he could and keep her at bay. I really wish she could've gotten the album that she always wanted.

This is sad and heartbreaking news to hear. 😢💔 May the GREAT and LEGENDARY Jewell Rest With GOD in eternal peace. I send ALL my prayers and condolences to her sons, her mother, and the rest of her family and friends.🙏🏿❤🕊 I was just listening to her songs a few days ago, and I remember listening to her insightful interviews last year and earlier this year. I just wish Jewell would have gotten that album that she always wanted through Death Row, instead of just being used a hook singer for the rappers on Death Row. Suge Knight should have given her that, especially since he always considered her family. I believe she was robbed of that, and that's what makes her whole situation on Death Row even more sadder because she did not receive all her roses for ALL her contributions to Death Row Records. Her voice was beautiful, power, and had so much soul. Jewell was one the GREATEST signers I have ever heard. Her LEGACY will continue to live on. She will ALWAYS be loved and GREATLY missed.
