So strange because I was not allowed to go to school either and the school board never even knew I existed. I was “homeschooled” till grade 8 then they didn’t even purchase books for me anymore. I was brought up in NYC and live in Israel now. I have been watching this channel for a couple of months now. Have been quietly following Aaron for a while- I’ve been particularly drawn to this channel, not because I’m a Scientologist but because I was in the evangelical church and was publicly excommunicated when I came out of the closet. I lost friendships and chosen family that were a decade old or more. The experience of this leaves a really strong impression even years later. The range of emotions you both are showing here are so relatable to me. I’ve experienced all these feelings over the years- it doesn’t really fully go away. I have no advice or observations- just to say that I feel for you all and hope you continue to thrive. I think it’s amazing how vocal you are and am thankful for the insight on your experience.

Having a law and enforcement of that law are two very different things. Where I am in Oregon, my husband's ex pulled their kids out of school because they said school was stupid, and she's their friend. Not Scientology related, although equally insane. She stopped making them attend when the youngest was in 3rd or 4th grade and officially withdrew them when he was in 6th. We were told truancy just "isn't a thing anymore" and that a judge would laugh it out of the courtroom. It's mind boggling!

As a teacher I know that the law of truancy are different in each state. In Iowa, it’s the 8th grade. Also, you need to let your son’s principal know that his grandparents are not allowed to pick him up or visit him in school because they are in a cult. They may ask you to put it in writing.

1:55:30 My youngest child didn’t finish 7 & 8th grade because of bullying as well as mental health issues and once we put them in therapy they asked to go back to school their freshman year and struggled a little but finished and this year they started knowing therapy is there to help them through their struggles and they are a different child. I will always recommend therapy to children who struggle even just a little. It changed mines life and we don’t medicate at all but they know if it’s bad enough and they need it, it’s available and so far just having that open door of communication has helped tremendously for our family!! I’m so happy your child is doing so well now Reese!

A major reason why I am LOVING these recorded conversations is how well they demonstrate the *true meaning* of "Scientology makes the able more able". And what that REALLY means is: *"Scientology...* *makes the manipulated...* *become more manipulative."* 1:31:28 A-A-Ron and Reese discussed this aspect briefly here. But someone could do an entire series on how this works in Scientology. It is an ENORMOUS part of the culture. There is so much emphasis in Scientology put on training people how to talk, behave and interact with others. And it is almost always the first thing, or at least one of the first things someone will be enrolled to study in the cult. "TR's", "Tone Scale drills", "Success Through Communications". But just because someone steps out of the courseroom, doesn't mean the training is over. Especially with children. It get repeated *constantly* by Scientologists. If you talk like a normal person in the outside world, they will make you feel left out. That you're not on their level. This obviously started with Hubbard. Where his followers wanted to demonstrate their sophistication and status within the group. Who's more dedicated. Who's more capable. It is a constant purity test that most do not even realize is happening. Which is historically true in every culture of society. The difference in Scientology is, the entire language and behavior structure is built around feeding the beast. Scientologists even have a word for it. "Valance". And if you're being "out-valance", that means you're acting like a "wog". Or a non-Scientologist. As they both point out many, many times, the people Reese are speaking to are being extremely careful with their words and responses to everything's Reese is telling them. Comparing her fellony assault and battery (of a minor) to a broken vase. Saying "got it", "I understand", "I can't believe that happened", etc etc... These are all practiced by every Scientologist from day one. That's what the communication drills are. To trick someone into believing they really understand. If any of these people were being honest with Reese, they'd say "You're lying and trying to hurt Scientology. And I'd like you to shut up about it. And if you don't shut up about it, you'll be my enemy for life." But they don't say that specifically because that would make everything more difficult for Scientology. Every word out of their mouths is fake. And they're ok with that because they believe they have the best intentions in mind. And are only taking actions to fulfill their oaths to "clearing the planet". To some extent Reese is doing this too. It's very clever. To keep them talking and attempting to manipulate Reese to do what they want. And because Reese is speaking their language, they keep calling and trying to push her back to Scientology. Even though what she's saying is "I don't want anything to do with Scientology". What they're hearing is "I have overts and withholds against the Church. And I want you to handle me. And get me to change my trajectory of becoming an outspoken SP critic." Reese could have completely ended these calls at any point by simply saying "Scientology is a scam. And I'm determined to tell the world the truth about what happened". Not that she intended to do that back then. But they would have just instantly cut the cord. Hypnosis targets the subconscious in order to subdue the person into consenting to whatever reality they are being presented with. When we're talking about language and behavior patterns in Scientology... it is a *total and complete overload of every learning center in the brain.* Often times, for children in Scientology, it's a survival mechanism. It is *laughable* to suggest that any child would be helped by any aspect of Scientology. But kids everywhere want their parents' approval and attention. And if they have to quickly adopt these strange affectations to get it, they will. From courserooms in orgs and private cult schools. In cult-run daycares and at home. It's a scary thing to behold. There isn't a transaction between Scientologist adults and children that isn't abusive in nature. Each time, the example is set. And followed with verbal affirmation or disapproval. Either "well done" or "flunk". Constant control. The bad kids are sent to the Ethics Department. Or even worse... bad kid schools. Where they cannot be influenced by the outside world. And it's rare for any of them to be able to defend themselves from staff and Sea Org recruitment, when they're old enough to become targeted. Then their tests of survival have only just begun. Hypnotism is for pussies. Even people who have entirely left the cult for decades have trouble completely removing these habits from their speech and behavior. I was brought up in NYC and live in Israel now. I have been watching this channel for a couple of months now. Since I do have some background in many cults, I just want to compliment you on your courage and moral responsiblity bringing the evil of Scientology to more and more people. I cannot understand why these people are not in jail and why the US govt. refuses to do anything. May you go from strength to strength and continue your very important work.

Have been quietly following Aaron for a while- I’ve been particularly drawn to this channel, not because I’m a Scientologist but because I was in the evangelical church and was publicly excommunicated when I came out of the closet. I lost friendships and chosen family that were a decade old or more. The experience of this leaves a really strong impression even years later. The range of emotions you both are showing here are so relatable to me. I’ve experienced all these feelings over the years- it doesn’t really fully go away. I have no advice or observations- just to say that I feel for you all and hope you continue to thrive. I think it’s amazing how vocal you are and am thankful for the insight on your experience.

I am crying for poor baby Huxley. My brother is 18 years younger than me, and just a little bit younger than Huxley, and his love and deep connection with everyone in our family... I mean when I imagine his heartbreak if he had to disconnect with anyone gives me physical pain. Having a law and enforcement of that law are two very different things. Where I am in Oregon, my husband's ex pulled their kids out of school because they said school was stupid, and she's their friend. Not Scientology related, although equally insane. She stopped making them attend when the youngest was in 3rd or 4th grade and officially withdrew them when he was in 6th. We were told truancy just "isn't a thing anymore" and that a judge would laugh it out of the courtroom. It's mind boggling!

I have a close friend who was in the “Exclusives” (also know as the Plymouth Brethren or The Brethren) and he was “put out” (shunned) in 1975, when his wife left him and his twin brother stopped speaking to him. He passed away last month and his twin brother did not come to the funeral. All these religious organizations should lose their tax exemption status and be closed down

The only real moment of engagement seemed to be when she was asking about Huxley (which is so messed up). I had a brief flirtation with Lifespring aka EST lite. The stink of cult made me flee after about a week and never look back. My sister was a true believer though which only served to magnify her personality disorders.
You should talk to Huxley about this often. It will give him a chance to vent his feelings and give you a chance to teach him life lessons. Unfortunately life isn’t always fair and we don’t always get what we want and some people make poor decisions and are brainwashed and there is nothing we can do about it. But talking to Huxley about it will help him process his feelings.

As a teacher I know that the law of truancy are different in each state. In Iowa, it’s the 8th grade. Also, you need to let your son’s principal know that his grandparents are not allowed to pick him up or visit him in school because they are in a cult. They may ask you to put it in writing.

1:55:30 My youngest child didn’t finish 7 & 8th grade because of bullying as well as mental health issues and once we put them in therapy they asked to go back to school their freshman year and struggled a little but finished and this year they started knowing therapy is there to help them through their struggles and they are a different child. I will always recommend therapy to children who struggle even just a little. It changed mines life and we don’t medicate at all but they know if it’s bad enough and they need it, it’s available and so far just having that open door of communication has helped tremendously for our family!!

A major reason why I am LOVING these recorded conversations is how well they demonstrate the *true meaning* of "Scientology makes the able more able".
And what that REALLY means is:
*"Scientology...*
*makes the manipulated...*
*become more manipulative."*
1:31:28 A-A-Ron and Reese discussed this aspect briefly here. But someone could do an entire series on how this works in Scientology. It is an ENORMOUS part of the culture. There is so much emphasis in Scientology put on training people how to talk, behave and interact with others.
And it is almost always the first thing, or at least one of the first things someone will be enrolled to study in the cult. "TR's", "Tone Scale drills", "Success Through Communications".
But just because someone steps out of the courseroom, doesn't mean the training is over. Especially with children. It get repeated *constantly* by Scientologists. If you talk like a normal person in the outside world, they will make you feel left out. That you're not on their level. This obviously started with Hubbard. Where his followers wanted to demonstrate their sophistication and status within the group. Who's more dedicated. Who's more capable. It is a constant purity test that most do not even realize is happening. Which is historically true in every culture of society. The difference in Scientology is, the entire language and behavior structure is built around feeding the beast.
Scientologists even have a word for it. "Valance". And if you're being "out-valance", that means you're acting like a "wog". Or a non-Scientologist.
As they both point out many, many times, the people Reese are speaking to are being extremely careful with their words and responses to everything's Reese is telling them. Comparing her fellony assault and battery (of a minor) to a broken vase. Saying "got it", "I understand", "I can't believe that happened", etc etc... These are all practiced by every Scientologist from day one. That's what the communication drills are. To trick someone into believing they really understand.
If any of these people were being honest with Reese, they'd say "You're lying and trying to hurt Scientology. And I'd like you to shut up about it. And if you don't shut up about it, you'll be my enemy for life." But they don't say that specifically because that would make everything more difficult for Scientology.
Every word out of their mouths is fake. And they're ok with that because they believe they have the best intentions in mind. And are only taking actions to fulfill their oaths to "clearing the planet".
To some extent Reese is doing this too. It's very clever. To keep them talking and attempting to manipulate Reese to do what they want. And because Reese is speaking their language, they keep calling and trying to push her back to Scientology. Even though what she's saying is "I don't want anything to do with Scientology". What they're hearing is "I have overts and withholds against the Church. And I want you to handle me. And get me to change my trajectory of becoming an outspoken SP critic."
Reese could have completely ended these calls at any point by simply saying "Scientology is a scam. And I'm determined to tell the world the truth about what happened". Not that she intended to do that back then. But they would have just instantly cut the cord. So I'm so glad she kept them interested hahah. It's such a perfect catalog of how ingrained manipulative language is in all of them.

When we're talking about language and behavior patterns in Scientology... it is a *total and complete overload of every learning center in the brain.*
Often times, for children in Scientology, it's a survival mechanism. It is *laughable* to suggest that any child would be helped by any aspect of Scientology. But kids everywhere want their parents' approval and attention. And if they have to quickly adopt these strange affectations to get it, they will. From courserooms in orgs and private cult schools. In cult-run daycares and at home. It's a scary thing to behold.
There isn't a transaction between Scientologist adults and children that isn't abusive in nature. Each time, the example is set. And followed with verbal affirmation or disapproval. Either "well done" or "flunk". Constant control.
The bad kids are sent to the Ethics Department. Or even worse... bad kid schools. Where they cannot be influenced by the outside world. And it's rare for any of them to be able to defend themselves from staff and Sea Org recruitment, when they're old enough to become targeted.
Then their tests of survival have only just begun.
Hypnotism is for pussies. Even people who have entirely left the cult for decades have trouble completely removing these habits from their speech and behavior. Or even realizing what they're mirroring.
It's like telling someone born and raised in Paris to stop being French. It's a looooong, hard road.

If I was in scientology I would be in their jail all the time. I would be laughing at them when they told me their rules. I'd be breaking some rules and be an SP the first week. I feel so blessed that my parents were good Christians. No abuse at all in my childhood.
