This was such a precious interview/conversation! I very much enjoyed listening to both of you talking about autism, tarot, collecting... Just what I needed at this moment. 🥰
The reframing of "Can you do this?" vs. "Can you do this EASILY or NATURALLY?" - YES !! Lightbulb! Now it makes sense why I doubt myself when explaining my symptoms & daily functioning sometimes. For example, it *appears* like I don't forget appointments from an outside perspective, but that's actually because I have my calendar, planner, and multi-alarm system to make sure I don't miss them. Those systems are in place so that I can allow myself to forget about appointments. Also chuckling in solidarity at Ysha's "yes I found a way to do them... so that I could survive to be this old" I relate to the Emperor being a 'control freak'. Reminds me so much of I tried (or try, present tense, though to a lesser extent) to seem all 'put together' so that nobody could make negative assumptions of me, or claim I didn't care. Thank you Imogen & Ysha for this lovely chat 🥰
6:22 because I have always endured it, because I can survive it... because I have never known differently. Because society tells me I can so I think I can, until I'm no longer able to, when I realise I'm not just supposed to survive my life, I'm actually supposed to be able to live. Not collapse every few years, when it's all to much...
I loved this video so much 🥰 your friendship is so heartwarming! Thank you for sharing this super interesting chat. I too was born and raised in Italy (and fled to the UK lol) so I resonate so much with what Ysha was saying. Much love 🤍
