It's a specialized variable vane turbo. It has moving fins around the housing to manipulate the boost through the entire torque band. Cool concept, too many moving parts to fail and they sound extremely bad. A proper fixed vane turbo (standard turbo, non vgt) will perform better, last longer and sound better, only downfall is turbo lag because it's not manipulated. My 03 diramax built to high heaven with all the bells and whistles will spool more than quick enough and gives me 60 pounds of boost with no issues.

They do make a difference while mudding or crawling 1 they're easier to knock of the rim harder to put back on in the mud less tread depth for the same size tire and nails mess them up pretty bad 16in rim with 38s vs a roofing nail you most likely won't puncture the thicker tire vs 2in tire on giant rims
