I started with lining up first to keep it neat. Then I started shaping and trimming three weeks after I first started letting it grow. So, I’ve kept neat from the beginning. As the American saying goes, “there are more ways to skin a cat.”
Makes sense, I’m in my late 20s my beard is pretty dense but it’s all starting to poke outwards around the chin and mush. I guess once it’s longer it will lay down flatter and trimming will only prolong that.
Love your vids. So straightforward and make Bearded brothers feel at ease. Keep up the great work. Ps my Beard is the double of yours. And like you, I'd probably like to grow another inch longer. Bur someone needs to take my trimming tools off me, as I'm soo ocd. And keep trimming at it if it's not 100 % perfect. I wish I could stop myself. But I can't at times. Think I need counselling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i grew my beard for the first time. only had 1 week at most before...saved out 6cm after 14 weeks and thought i needed a pro to trim the lines... The barber didn't do anything I told him to do and took of 5 out of 6cm in the cheeks area. I told him just to trim the lines and keep the lenght everywhere. I was so pissed off. Never going back to a barber after that.
I keep hearing to leave it alone for the first 3 months but it’s so difficult, what I’m doing right now is a keep untouched for the most part of the first 2 months only shaving the neckline and cheek lines, but then I started to shape it and do a trim every 3 weeks only for sideburns to transition to my bald head and fly always to keep an overall fuller shape, I have a really patchy beard though so this is what works for me, specially working in a corporate office environment. Thanks for sharing!
You are right, Luis! It is really hard to keep yourself from touching and trimming the beard! It sounds like you have a system that works for you and your workplace! As long as you are not trimming off more than what grows you'll be golden. Sideburns are a great addition to what you can trim early on - it all helps to make your beard look intentional and tidy!
@BEARD good thing I read this comment we're going pro I have a question about the sideburns how long do you wait until you trim the sideburns and how low do you go connected to the beard
that internal conflict is real. For me its only because of density issues etc or in the past a bad beard day. For me the chin grows strong, the stache is good, but cheeks are weaker. So the conflict is with the cheeks. Right now i'm around 2 months + and its within an awkward phase of its own, its obviously a beard, however the hairs aren't quite long enough to really lay down on the cheeks, the chin seems to lay down fine because of the density. So as you say, i'll likely have to wait a month or 2 before the cheeks can fill in and weigh themselves down slightly. Right now at this point trying to tame the beast at this length is awkward, really looking forward to the point where I grow slightly beyond where I want it and everything starts to sit nicely
Going for a yeard with no trimming (have trimmed my stache a couple weeks ago, little on the top lip( awesome trim hack from George Bruno’s channel ‘listen My Son’. Gets a perfect straight line without losing a lot of length. I hate chewing on stache hairs so felt so much better. Month four for me. The only trimming to ever happen is at my lip. That’s it. George Bruno’s channels been a huge advice along this journey. This channel too
I have been looking for this video forever!! Thank you so much for making this!!! There's actually not that much info on growing a beard out and where to focus on for length and all that. I do have one question though. I've been going at it trimming fly aways pretty much daily for a few days now and I'm regretting it lol. I seem to always have fly aways even with an oil and a balm but I'm probably just being overly OCD about it. I've got a lot of shorter hairs now mixed in with the longer ones. Should I trim all of it to even it out and then leave it to grow, or should I be ok to just stop doing that and let it continue to grow out? Thanks in advance for any advice
Thanks for the video mate! Informative. Just in time for when I needed some valuable info regarding my exciting first beard experience! Good news for myself in very patient and don’t care about what others think i’m doing (or not) regarding my appearance. Anyhow, I’ve got two basic question. I’m on month 3 almost. I haven’t touched my beard yet. I only did a super minor cut/trim of fly away hairs but that was only once in the 3 months and very minimal cut. I can see my sideburn hairs now visibly poppin out... you reckon its time to hit the barber for a professional trim to tidy things up? - 2nd question, I read in one of your articles about having short hair and also being bald and how to complement that look with fading the sides gradually as shown in one of your photos. What do you reckon complementa someone with long and thick hair? Treat the sideburns the same way when trimming? Faded down? Would love to gather some opinion on this. My hair reaches just the tip of my shoulders and its dense. I even asked myself (and others) whether i should be growing a beard or not... thinking it might be just too much hair going on around my face/head. But... a man should grow a nice proper beard once in his right? I’ve finally made the decision and started the journey, and happily very passionate about it with all my grooming kit ready with me 😁 your input is appreciated! Thanks for sharing.
Very happy to help out! Going to see a Barber is always a good idea. Tell them your plans and tell them that you are growing your beard but want it to look intentional. They'll be able to guide you. In terms of fading - it works for be because I am balding - however for someone with really thick hair you can blend it from your hair to the beard. Try a few styles and speak to the barber about it! They will be able to help you for sure!
@@BeardGrowingPro Thanks for replying, I've watched your beard stages w photos video and have a beard similar in length to yours at week 16-18. I use a blow dryer, balm, and oil but sadly mine struggles to all go in one direction, any tips on a beard that won't stay uniform?
Hmmm...good question. Try holding in place a little more while blow drying. I'm also testing a beard straighter too - maybe that'll help. Look out for that video!

My 1st time growing a beard. 6 weeks in but i trim my moustache down because i do not want a long moustache. It drives me nuts lol

My message is simple. No trimming at all. That’s it.

So how much longer after 3 months of growing out the beard do I finally go to the barbershop to get a trim?
I'm 2 weeks in, and was wondering whether it was about time -_-
Best content I have ever seen 👍
Great video! Very informative 😁
Glad you think so!

My only question about trimming is what about the upper lip area?
I'm at 6 months and have not trimmed it yet but it's starting to get dry thin and breaking off
Beard oil.
Thank you
Do you recommend to wait for three months to trim the neckline/cheek line?
No, you have to trim that
quality info
Glad it was helpful, Jack!
