      If you see the whole movie the guy he is slapping around has been urging Superman to kill his enemy's instead of incarcerate them the only way he could prove to the public this was a bad option was stage it to look like he crossed the line like Jester did. in the end it made his point.

    What WON me over with this is how EVEN Superman admits how easy your emotions can get the better of you. Emotions are powerful. However, if we ONLY use that as a power fuel sometimes what once was so good and pure, can turn dark and deadly. That’s why it’s important to remember how easy you can lose yourself into your emotions. Superman knows that. I remember how in Justice League where it was Superman birthday and Wonder Woman and Batman saw how Clark was implant with the ‘Black Mercy’. He was living the life HE always dream of. A life, a loving wife, a SON. And when Bruce’s voice echoed in his head he realized this wasn’t real. And how he had to tell his own ‘dream state’ like son how he wasn’t real. You can feel the emotion in his voice as he hugs him telling him he’ll never forget him. And you can hear the angry in his voice when he was released of the ‘Black Mercy’. We saw just how scary he can be when you push someone like that. Superman is a very kind, compassionate character. And he is this way because he lose so MUCH. If losing a love one is hard. Losing your home. Try losing your planet, your race. You are THE VERY LAST of your kind.

    I think this version of Superman is very relatable, the real world is so dark in so many places. We need hope, we can be good and kind without being weak and taken advantage of. I strive every day to still be like my childhood heroes even tho the world has continues to try an convince me only other avenues of thinking are realistic. You find people, when given the genuine opportunity, gravitate towards and respect the hell out of it.

      Agreed, Brent. Even Terrence, someone who wanted the Elite's darker actions when his father died and he was so full of anger at Atomic Skull for doing it, knew that Superman didn't have to be how he was before Clark showed the truth of his plan. It shows how even when we give into anger at one point, we can rise above it and be about hope, which is exactly what Superman is all about. Even for how "corny" Clark comes off, he believes in the good in people, even when he said earlier in the movie that "Good doesn't mean perfect.", which he also shows here with how he tricked the Elite and the whole world into thinking he sank to the Elite's level, only to have a plan all the way through.

    The thing most people keep forgetting is that Superman works outside the law. Like Batman, and Wonder Woman, and the rest of the superheros. So it makes sense for him to not kill, not just because of morals, but because it's not in his job description. They defeat villains, turn them in, and it's up to the authority whether or not to kill them. And they always refuse to. Why is that? If they expect vigilantes to just play judge jury and executioner, then they're as weak and sheep like as the civilians who'll turn their backs on super heroes when they need to complain. It's no hero's fault if the government doesn't want to do their own job. We already seen what it's like when vigilantes take these matter into their own hands with no repercussions, and none of those stories end well. So let's all point our fingers at the real villains.

    This scene represents why I love Supes as a character.
    He has the power to simply sneeze away an entire solar system, arm wrestle Atlas and move galaxies. Yet, with all this power, all this might that could easily corrupt any man, he chooses justice, honour and humility. He is the representation of why it is important not to become that what you fight. Anti-heroes seem cool when you see them as badasses who don't need to follow the law to in order to dispatch justice, but here, in this very scene, he demonstrated why this is exactly the opposite of what we should he idolising.
    "It's so easy." sums up about every Anti-hero out there. They let their emotions get the better of them. Vigilante justice is not justice, that is an oxymoron. It is exactly being a criminal entails.

      Except that's the issue with Superman, who decides what a hero is? Just take the example given in BvS, when his dad (memory) told Clark about the heroic thing he did, saving the farm from washing away and prevented their farm animals to drown during a storm, he said his grandma baked him a cake because she saw him as a hero for doing that, which of course he was in her eyes. Then comes the other side of that situation, his heroic deed caused destruction to someone else's farm, namely the Langs' in this case, the Kents driving the water off lead that same water to the farm of the Langs, destroying most of it and drowning their animals. Would the Langs consider Clark/Superman a hero if they knew they were responsible?
      That's what Snyder was aiming for, no matter how powerful you are, your actions have consequences and that's why the happy cheerful flawless Superman of some of the older iterations just looks childish now. And yes some things could have been better with that movie too so I'm not blind to its flaws either.

These are the same people that think that Superman is overpowered and boring, but then make sure batman always wins and gets the upper hand because of strategy, even when he realistically couldn't survive. He shouldn't be able to survive a hit from a villain like Bane, who could punch a hole clean through him and has no reservations about doing so. And he sure as fuck shouldn't be able to outrun or dudge an Omega Beam. Writers will break all rules and logic to make him win, but still call Superman overpowered.

    This is why Superman is my favorite DC hero. I once knew someone who always trashed Superman whenever I brought him up. They'd say he's "unrelatable," that Clark Kent is his persona that mocks humanity. He was born a "perfect, overpowered, distant alien."
    It's not about the fights though. It's about what they mean as a whole.
    What's unrelatable about a dorky English major from Kansas just trying to do the best he can?
    What's unrelatable about feeling overworked with the weight of the world on your shoulders?
    What's unrelatable about being scared that you'll fail and what that failure will mean in the long run?
    I don't read Superman comics for the fights, I read them for the man they're about.

    • @danielhaire6677
      @danielhaire6677 Месяц назад

      Your talking buddies are wrong. Clark isn't a persona he dons to mock humanity. That's who the greatest heroes in DC, Jonathan and Martha Kent, raised him to be. Imagine who he could have become if Amanda Waller or Luthor found him as a baby. Imagine the devastation and evil. Instead, Kal-El became Clark Kent, inspired by the awesome humanity of a simple married couple from Kansas.

    And here Superman reminds the west of something Japanese teen comics never stopped pushing : The importance of dreams.
    The drive to achieve something, the grander the better.
    While your dream might be to one day to write thought provoking bestseller, climb the peak of a mountain, or to start and keep happy family, it's the fact you do have this dream that motivates you through the hardships. It's the voice you hear when you're about to give up. The image of the future you seek.
    Quite honestly, screw ppl that think superman is cheesy. I know next to nothing about him (apart from nerd osmosis), but this is something the west seems to forget.
    So go on and dream. Chase the future of your design. Make *your* world a better place.

      yeah, two reasons: 1)huge amount of fanboys; 2)bad writing. Two main reasons that allow the 5th weakest member of JLU main cast to even compete with the likes of Flash, Captain Atom or Dr.Fate. And yet, you people whine that second weakest member of the cast is sometimes allowed to make a few punches against your idol:D
      And no, it's not okay even for Black. His powers alone can deal a continent sized amounts of "collateral damage".

    • @mckenzie.latham91
      @mckenzie.latham91 7 лет назад +158

      People supported the elite killing atomic skull becasue he was a villain who had killed people...What superman was showing them was if they want a someone who will kill the bad guys, who doesn't follow rule of law, who has no mercy, who does whatever they want becasue they have the power to do so and no one can stop them...how bad it can turn out for everyone else.
      again the elite were the same way, Black basically says to Superman, they'll do whatever they want and kill anyone who upsets or gets in their way...
      Superman wanted to show the world what a rogue hero can be like...and it scared them.
      I like the scene before the battle where Lois asks Clark why he needs to face Black, and he says he overheard kids saying they want to be like the elite cause killing bad guys looks fun...killing looks like fun...

There's a large section of fans who want him back as Superman, even those who didn't like the three films he was in, said that Henry was never the problem. Man, I don't think George Newbern's voice matches for Superman, but his delivery was fantastic in this movie. He VA'd the hell out of this, mad respect.

      It's a mixture of fear of what Superman might become and stupidity on the kid's part. That's what happens when the wants of the people turn against them.

      Superman is damn terrifying. The Elite work so well because of just how human everyone viewed them but Superman wasn't just a person, he's an icon. To see that fall is extremely terrifying. Couple that with what he is capable of and it suddenly puts everything in perspective. The Elite got cheers because they never were an ideal to strive for;

      except the issue is people were starting to view these pychopaths as the ideal heroes. Like superman said he over heard kids wanting to kill bad guys for fun...killing for fun. If people starting following guys like these the world would be getting alot more violent

      Alex Mansfield Hell we will be burning. The sick shit going through my brain alone is enough to terrify anyone. But people like me don’t go psycho because Superman exist to show them it isn’t right and there is consequences.
      If that fell, humanity is toast.
