That's because he's a stereotypical New York "man" that's never had any meaningful contact with animals. Probably can't change a tire either. Or deal with the simplest of plumbing, mechanical, or electrical repairs. The first to die in the zombie apocalypse because he is worthless in practical matters.

I’m kind of surprised they allowed the audience to react as loud as they did. I’d imagine when animals are on set, they’d prompt the audience to keep quiet.

I always feel a little bad whenever an animal goes on a show and the host wants it to go away because the guest obviously is excited to talk about it.
Most of the time yes, with the snake it felt a bit more logical. Lots of people are irrationally scared of snakes and I doubt people want to be that close to “the most venomous” one. Although it may be say too.

These animals beauty are wasted on this inflated host and the audience. What a great guy Dave is, so patient and knowledgeable.
It shows like this hosting these animals that really promotes conservation. They are offering them a free platform to speak about the beauty of nature and animals.
The trade off is to annoy the animals for a few minutes of entertainment. This is probably the most heroic thing Jimmy Kimmel does.

This is the third video I've seen where Jimmy is generally dismissive and not at all supportive of this segment. If he can't handle wild animals and is scared then he shouldn't have this segment. It's very disrespectful!

Because animals like these that can’t be released back into the wild are
“Zoo ambassadors”, you have to get them used to different environments so they are most comfortable.
The best time to do that is when they are very young.
The poor baby was scared but, the audience should have been told not to make loud noises, like they did the time they brought the cheetah on.
Fox Song It doesn't matter Dave told the audience to be quiet when the cheetah came on, but Jimmy wouldn't shut up. The audience was quiet at first and then forgot their manners, and just started being loud again. It was sad.

The worst part was when just as the cheering and applause died down and the Lion started to calm down a little, Jimmy and the other guy made the joke about leaving and the audience started to laugh and cheer again.
That bald eagle is a beautiful animal, wish we could still see them in their natural habitat (verge of extinction).
