I met him at a show once. He is absolutely not arrogant whatsoever. He's taking care of a sick wife, he has humanitarian causes he puts first, and he was just incredibly nice to talk to.
Joey Eppard is not arrogant. He is one of the most humble, genuine men I've ever met in my life. I would take that claim to my grave. I know Joey Eppard quite well and arrogant is about as far from the truth as it gets.
This song, and the album it came from, have been such a consistent for the last decade, even though I discovered it by accident a decade after it came out. Absolutely wild that it's not on every list of the best of that decade. It's on mine for sure.
It absolutely blows my mind that this guy isn't recognized more as a truly and genuinely great musician. The instrumentation, lyrics, and singing are absolutely perfect in every piece of music he creates. Joey Eppard's music holds a very special place in my heart, and I want more people to feel the same way I do when hearing it. This man is a musical wizard.
+Jeff Rimer I am fortunate enough to live close to Kingston (Josh and Joey's hometown). One time 3 played the Hudson Valley Mall, I had never heard of them, knocked my on my balls!
Every time I watch this live show, I feel like I'm witnessing a pure expression of God. Not that I believe in a Christian God or anything like that, but the Universe, the Eternal Energy, whatever it is...Joey Eppard channels it. It's unlike anything else I've ever seen. It truly is beyond words.
This is easily up there with Steven Wilson's "Raven That Refused To Sing" as one of the best recordings to come out in recent memory... I've been playing it constantly on my radio show, hoping to turn more people on to your work. Excellent, amazing stuff, as always! Hoping maybe one day you can make it down towards the Birmingham area, so I can see your solo act live.
Cant believe I'm so late to the game finding this, after seeing 3- 4 or 5 times over the course of 2 years with porcupine tree, then the progressive nation tour. Love your work Joey! Hope to see something like this live one day
It's an Ovation and I believe it's an Elite Pro, although the fret inlays would have to be custom as the standard issue has a blank fretboard. They're lovely guitars. They've got really close action and round contoured backs that make them an absolute joy to play, especially as a finger picker, and they have a reputation for being practically bulletproof (the founder of Ovation apparently worked designing helicopters before he went into guitars).
Joey, I love your stuff man...the technicalities of guitarmanship, the amazing tone of your voice, and god, those lyrics...so much talent...whether its your solo stuff or your work with 3, I've loved your music from the moment I heard it...I would love to be able to see you perform live
Ugh...no. 3 is the greatest prog rock band of all time. Almost everything Coheed did, 3 did first and they copied from 3. Comics with their albums...3 did it first and Coheed took the idea. Claudio's voice...he sings that way because he's imitating Joey Eppard, he used to go to 3 shows before Coheed even existed and learned to sing in his unique way by copying Joey's style.
Chillin' Like a Villain Killin' Krillin that's a lot of accusations without a proof to take as a fact... Do you have any source about that?? (Execpt about the comics thing)
I mean his brother used to be the drummer for 3, so it makes a lot of sense they have musical similarities and I'm sure Josh had a vision for a similar band to 3 and it ended up with Coheed. I wouldn't call it copying, their is A LOT that is super close but they are both different bands in their own respect.
Fantastic. It's hard to believe someone can sing and play like that so flawlessly and make it seem so effortless. Is anyone able to tell me more about that guitar itself? It's beautiful.
Oh yeah? At the Church right? I went to an NA meeting there once, when I was 15 years old I didn’t have an issue at the time, but my girlfriend, who was struggling at the time, would only go if I went with her. Suffice to say, the experience kept me away from hard drugs for the rest of my life ha ha.
@@JoeyEppard3 they kicked us out...its on Millers Lane now. Hope that girlfriend got the help she needed. A lot of us do, and a lot of us dont. Music is like medicine, it can heal...keep up the good works.
Still come back to this 11 years later. Joey you're extremely talented, this is one of my favourite songs!
I really don't know why this guy and his band are not that popular, every single fucking work he/they publish are a fucking masterpiece.
Because they're not mainstream and super marketed
I met him at a show once. He is absolutely not arrogant whatsoever. He's taking care of a sick wife, he has humanitarian causes he puts first, and he was just incredibly nice to talk to.
That´s a very arrogant remark
Joey Eppard is not arrogant. He is one of the most humble, genuine men I've ever met in my life. I would take that claim to my grave. I know Joey Eppard quite well and arrogant is about as far from the truth as it gets.
Joey is a real sweet guy, and talented too.
im comfortable calling this one of the best single song performances ever recorded
+ace88bf especially cause what he reveals about the creation of it
This and John Gomm - Passionflower. Can’t think of anything better
Autumn Leaves by Eva Cassidy apparently is also good
Joey is a unique vocalist and guitarist. He should be more known but this is how things are. A damn shame.
Jesus. This hits me hard every time. Even eight years later.
EVERY TIME
Joey Thanks you for existing.
how isn't he more popular?!?!?! absolutely blows my mind
No marketing.
Because he didn’t sign the Faustian bargain
Because 3 is way beyond most peoples attention span and this is too main stream to be rock and too rock to be mainstream
Because he needs better marketing!
I think they were for awhile playing shows with Coheed & Cambria and Dillenger Escape Plan
Thank you for being a friend of all those in recovery !

Been a fan of 3 since 2005 when I stumbled across Alien Angel. Joey, has some real talent. Keep it up
Flawless. You are one of the best vocalists (and guitarists) to have ever lived.
Love you uncle Joey best song and favorite one
One of My favorite artists of all time….you can't get any more talented than this.
Joey is the hidden gem of the hidden gems.
I need some more 3 albums I’m wearing mine out! Haha
All you are is all you've ever been. Legendary!
Such an amazing talent that so many more need to experience!
"Squadrons of raindrops...
Filling potholes"...
Just a catchy line....
Love the simplicity of it...
Yet paints a vivid imagery!
Really miss this sweet voice 💔.
what beautiful work !!
This makes life worth living.
His brother is the drummer for coheed and Cambria!!!
right?
WOW just incredible!!
One of these days I'm going to make it out to New York to see Joey Eppard and 3 in concert. I love Joey's solo stuff.
saw "3" open for coheed in syracuse. never heard em before but their set was so amazing i was an instant fan
+Jeff Rimer I am fortunate enough to live close to Kingston (Josh and Joey's hometown). One time 3 played the Hudson Valley Mall, I had never heard of them, knocked my on my balls!
If I didn't see the video and hear the audience at the end, I would think this is a studio version. It's that perfect.

Exactly
Josh from Coheed sent me here cause he said his brother was awesome. He was right!

What an incredible Talent. Why isn't he more famous?
Thank you for the gift of music. This song resides in a special place in my heart. I hope you read this one day, joey.
I love your music man.
Beaming with talent and incredibly humble.
Wow beautiful!
So beautiful and brilliant! Very emotional to listen to and brings me to tears! Joey Eppard is one of the best singers and songwriters, period!

Glorious! Why isn't this on spotify?!?! >.

this is so beautiful :)) joey is one hell of a singer/ guitarrist.

Puddle by Joey Eppard
I was there! Love ya, Joey~
outstanding
it makes so much sense that his brother is in the greatest prog rock band of all time.

LOLOLOLOL
There is no such thing as the greatest, its all subjective. Without Joey and 3, there would be no such thing as coheed.
Excelente!
I ❤️ Joey Eppard
Me too!!
Fantastic. It's hard to believe someone can sing and play like that so flawlessly and make it seem so effortless.

Umm...looks like an Ovation??

a reflection of affection incomplete
Looks like the man has been singing from birth. Nice!
I heard your cover of delirium trigger. Its insaine
Dan Mancini Where in the world do I find this? Just looked, found nothing.
Please bless us with the greatest cover we’ve never heard.
Seriously I couldn't find it
any idea of the tuning he used?
E minor for sure
Justin Mitchell He changes it up but I'm pretty sure this song is an Emaj tuning. E-B-E-G#-B-E
hehe I used to go to AA meetings on Elmendorf St.....
