Rebuilding a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali that even came with that new truck smell! Part 1

- It is time for me to commit to a new truck after my 2 year test drive of the Dirtnali. This could be the last truck I own and I am ok with that. I wanted a white, 17-19 Sierra Denali diesel with black interior and a sunroof and believe it or not, that is not an easy order to fill. Somehow I found it and the fact that it only had 12,000 miles on it was a huge bonus. If you are wondering why the 17-19 since the 15-16 looked the same, it is because the newer ones came with the L5P Duramax instead of the LML. It should be a fairly easy repair and hopefully not too expensive since no airbags deployed but there are always surprises on rebuilds.

Is it a DERNALI or a DENALI? Ask for a friend...hahaha
I provided a playlist, I provided a link to said playlist, I referenced said link. Seriously, I cannot click the link for you(or your friend). SMH
Lol
GMC Sierra Denali? I see a patern. :D
This is there most excited Scott has sounded since....well, this is the most excited.
Right. Think the next best one was the mustang, throwing parts in the pile made him pretty happy
🤣🤣🤣
I used my super excited monotone voice!

Sketchiness and sarcasm…both are why this channel is awesome!
Keep up the great work Scott.
I have plenty of both! 😂
That off the trailer routine never gets old! LOL every time! fantastic
it was a little weak this time....not a lot of enthusiasm....I give it a 3.0 .....
@@rickwensel2313 I miss the afternoon crew....was always entertaining when they were around :-(

Yeah I don't know why but it still makes me laugh more than I should have! 🤣

Appreciate the dry humor with no pageantry; and the lesson as well.

Are you too good for your home! 😂
@@vehcor need to get you and @AVE together for a video.
I’m so glad you’re back doing trucks General Motors trucks😁👍🏿
My favorite vehicle to work on!
When the control arm just slides off the torsion bar we know it's not from Illinois!
Yeah, and sway bar links that don't snap when you try to unbolt them. lol
nor the north east
On the left lower ball joint. Inspect the steering knuckle taper, it is common in this type of crash for the ball joint stud to stretch and oval out the steering knuckle taper. While things will tighten up, the stud isn't being held firmly and will flex / break after a while. Oval track racers don't seem to understand this leading to a second crash down the road.
@@vehcor Thanks for starting a new exciting project! By the way, you have a bad habit of teasing. You must upload two videos at once sometime soon?
Keep up the Outstanding job sir, we appreciate and enjoy every second. I know I do!
@@bobroberts2371 Good tip, I don't do body work but this is good information to keep in my back pocket in case a customer comes in wanting an alignment after an accident
Thoes extra GMC badges that were hiding the console has finally found a new vehicle to be installed too!
At least one....
Can’t wait for the end of the build when all the stuff from the console goes out of the sunroof. Thanks for sharing
😂
“The protective dirt coating the previous owner installed” LOL.
Dude seriously...I am so sorry for thinking I thought I've seen some dirt in a truck frame. You Sir are the Master of finding the dirtiest of dirty!
Looks like a nice truck I am sure it will be better than New when you’re done sir 👍🏻👍🏻
It is nice, probably too nice for me but oh well. They let me buy it! 😂
My night just got better. It's a new vehcor video of a GM truck!!
I love your simple language. It's so easy to follow.
Every Friday I get a treat! I get to watch one of my favorite RUclips Channels.
Now that I have watched your latest video. I can go back and be my old depressed self. Waiting another week to be entertained by your next video. Until then I'll have to rely on some rum and diet coke. So please don't miss a Friday or my wife will have me committed to a rehab facility for alcohol abuse!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I hope you are joking. Must be more to life than that.
@@BrucePierson Bruce, of course I'm joking. Don't take everything so seriously. I watch Scott for his builds and raw sence of humor.

👍🏻
Who da hell is we? Lmao
It amazes me that you can see a truck like this and think "This will be my forever truck."
Such incredible work and knowledge, always impressive and entertaining!
Thanks! :)
It is exactly what I wanted so I will keep it as long as I can. Thanks for the support!
@@vehcor I have a Silverado LT upgraded to a Denali cluster and spring rates (among other items).
Sigh, I should have just bought a denali. Let me know when your old one is on the market. :)
Highly specialized bumper adjustment metric hammer work. Coupled with fine adjustment techniques using only specific tools crafted for a job. Excellent work and bravo good sir, bravo indeed.
I've learned my lesson with jack stands, now I use a cut off from a timber, its 12x12x12 block, and then any other height needed I put some 2x6 cutoffs on top, doesn't matter if I'm on concrete or mud, it holds, and if the vehicle were to move there's a good chance the block is still holding it up
Doctor Scott got a new patient. I have a High Country Duramax and love it.
Your videos are so enjoyable. No distracting music, lots of info and facts, good explanation and visuals, dry humour, excellent!
"$5,000 in dealer installed accessories"
Yeah cause if someone was to do it on their own would be $143.87.
$5000 in dealer installed accessories is a full size spare, tow package (aka trailer hitch), running boards and undercoating. Exactly $143.87 dealer cost.
No matter how technology changes, there still isn't much that can't be solved with the sensible and practical application of a bigger hammer.
It's the little things that makes it all worth it and I'm with you there's nothing like a sun roof in a vehicle that makes my day.
👍🏻
This is going to be a great series
Vehcor : “It’s got a lot of aftermarket accessories; about $5,000 worth”
Me: “Oh, do you mean the 4 polished factory wheels?”
The best videos are the truck videos.
Thanks 👍
Scott, you are a very funny man, when you are repairing your projects. I love watching you every Friday, and you make me laugh, with your comments. You are one on the only on U Tube for repairing cars and trucks. That I love watching. Keep up the great work. I also love your Chevy Trucks.
Never ever ever thought id be watching you so this stuff and start making weird faces when i work and say stuff like "in the pile" and "some ones been here before!" But here i am i think over a year maybe 2 later!
Oh and calling body panels and parts by there name like close out panel
Nice truck.....more better now that you found what you really wanted.
White with black interior and a sunroof is harder to find than you might think. 😂
RULE 1! GONNA BE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep! Have a great weekend!
This truck knows what it's like to be the dog that gets picked to be adopted from the shelter... How lucky can I get it says quietly under its exhaust breath..
Gotta love having the power sunroof! I won't buy a hard top car/truck without one. The "other" ride is a convertible of course...only way to drive at night in Texas....top down!
Couldn't agree more!
Scott happy for you man, you keep a Denali
I’ll keep it as long as it makes sense to for sure!
I have the exact same Bumper Adjustment Tool, it truly is Universal. Good job on the Truck mate 👍
I have a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500, and my dream truck is a new Denali. Great video. I am definitely subscribing.
First time I saw this Scott’s vid. Really simple and straightforward when explaining the issues on this Dernali.
That's a awesome sunroof
I agree! 😂
Talk about "can do"! You are a joy to watch and listen to, and I wish you good luck with this new to you truck.
I was waiting for the scream 😍
I got you! 😂
Love the truck restorations, for some odd reason.
Standing by for additional episodes!
Great Video!!
They are my favorites as well!
Somebody's been in here before... Thanks again!
👍🏻
For a second I thought you were going to forget the trailer unloading scream. It always gives me a chuckle.
I like how you put the parts/pieces back together and then lay them on the trailer so that they don't walk away plus you don't have to think really hard when putting them back on. I do that a lot and some guys used to rib me for taking too long.
Love the color commentary, always a good time.
I LOVE the GM truck builds!
Me too!
Yayyy a new Dirt Nally can’t wait for the next video on Dirt Nally 2.0 Friday✌🏽
The dirtier Nally.....
I do appreciate any videos you and your afternoon shift publish. Thanks for all of your hard work.
Another episode of Denali Scotty and Mr. Spotty! 👏👏👏👏
😂
You've made me jaded. After watching all your builds, I look at that and say, "Why'd they total that? I know of a guy that could fix that with one arm tied behind his back!" :)
You gained a sub solely from the " . . . and we'll use our bumper adjustment tool. Gently tap it back into place" 🤣🤣
I loved the bumper adjustment with the ratchet strap and hammer!!!
I’ve seen trucks with way more damage than yours that didn’t total! Great deal there!👍
I know right? write off a $100,000 truck for $10K worth of damage?
I suspect that many of these vehicles are written off because the rider "new replacement" when there's over x amount of damage. What happens is the value of the vehicle is diminished when it lists an accident on carfax so many insure their vehicle against that.
I watch a LOT of car youtube videos and some have been written off with far less damage.
Me too. Definitely not a total by the numbers.
It's gonna be a nice truck when you get done i have a 94' GMC Truck and it has 305 thousand miles on it and still runs like a new one.
It might not be a fancy & have all of the options on like all of these newer trucks, but you the more dependable truck.
I have a newer GMC Denali Duramax Z71, it has every option you can get on one. I also a 1997 Chevrolet C2500 that I bought new in April of 1997. That truck has 464K miles on it, with a gooseneck trailer hooked behind it for over half of those miles. All original drivetrain, with none of it ever being rebuilt. I will literally kick rocks at that newer truck as I walk pass it to go get my old 1997 truck to go do something !!
Thank you for opening my eyes too new ideas 💡
Mr.spoty actually earning his check
It’s about time!
@@vehcor i know lol
I remember the story from around 2007-2008 about the guy with a Wrangler driving home from the Badlands in Attica, IN, after breaking a front axle shaft and not reinstalling the stub shaft. His wheel fell off after the hub came apart, he rolled, and died.
Great to see you back in the groove !
👍🏻
this is the type of bearing that is indeed, held together by the axle. GM loves to do this.
Usually the 2wd ones have the sleeve.
I'm so glad that the pile is back, together with a lot of handy tools you are using. It is a beautiful build, Scott. I'll follow this build with a lot of interest because I like the way you build it and document it a lot.
That ty rod tool looks so cool for the type of job it does especially as it’s in green so you can’t lose it
Yes! Finally some big GM trucks!
My favorite!
Sir I liked how you talk you got me with your full of honesty
Dueling Denali's.... Nice! Really looking forward to see this re-build! Waiting for the trailer backdown scream.... 20:05... Got it!
Can’t forget the most important part of trailer unloading!😂
Ah Dirtnali 2 the sequel! I can’t wait for the build to start will be a beauty when ur done. Looking forward to the next video. Cheers
I don’t know much about what you do. Electronics is my game, but you are amazing to watch and learn from! Just subscribed to learn more…. More like curiosity. 👍
Woo hooo.. a new shop truck.. now you can sell the other one. Well have a great weekend. Its my b day on Monday. Stay safe and be well
Congratulations on your new truck my friend. I hope you get an enjoyment out of it. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Scott, glad you are excited! Makes work so much more fun! Rich
I can’t watch this now but I’m really looking forward to watching it tonight.
I can promise boredom and sarcasm. 😂
Another great video sir. Thanks for my Friday fix!
No problem, thanks for watching!
Nice torque wrench, set perfectly
Working on chevy and gmc is always exciting!👍👍
Nice truck super jelly
Thanks!
I’m excited for this build! Glad your doing another.
Bumper adjustment tool, BFH. I love it
5k worth of dealer accessories , so they added chrome plated tire valve covers😂
Fuzzy dice on the rearview! lol
That is a good looking truck, and honestly, those wheels are works of art! IMO of course!
I agree! If I ever bought one without these wheels, I would find a set to put on!
Finally!!!!!!!!!!! A new project. Nice one Vehcor
Congrats on finding this jewel! It’s in the best hands it could ever be!!!
I love these trucks too. Mine is a ‘14 but just a gasser 1500 still hope for a dmax one day
Congratulations on the long term GMC!
Thanks!
I despise power seats and sunroofs. Always have ours shut and covered! For those of you watching this man work and think it looks easy,,, it's exactly like watching Travis Pastrana ride a motorcycle and think you can back flip a RM 250... It is not that easy!! It has been earned.
Hey, I can do what Travis does......... lol
@@vehcor Wouldn't surprise me!!
Awww shit we’re getting fancy now, lol.
This is why I am poor! 😂
That will be better than new when you get done with it Scott love the sarcasm and wise cracking. I have Mr Spotties Scottish cousin but he’s camera shy 🙈 and you wouldn’t understand a word he says 👍🏻
it is so great you have an awesome Truck to rebuild, Im really excited to follow this Denali restoration, great find/buy
Thanks!
12:52 That's the first "I win" in months!!
Things must have been too easy lately! 😂
Aw-rite Scott! Dirtnali 2.0 Build Friday❗️ Ya gotta love it‼️
Love your channel and the work you do. Ottawa Ontario Canada.
Got a 2021 3500 HD Denali and I love it.
So excited the feeling how the controls are coming loose... I hate cars coming from the north
Wow! I'm impressed. This replacement truck is nice! Salvage or rebuilt titles are an advantage here as well. Since this state bases your taxes on your vehicles value, it Saves you money on your car taxes every year. Damage isn't that bad. Gotta love NC they have a really low damage percent to declare a TL.
Hey Scott good seeing you !
Scott---== G.O.AT!! Never a problem he can't handle...except maybe the afternoon crew.🤓🤗☝
Nice truck mate. Looking forward to the repair.
First timer when I seen how you handled with such care on the bumper I hit the subscribe 😂👍
My video paused at 16:29,that was a funny face you were pulling 🤣
She will never hear the end of her de-trailering experience.
It's not a skid plate, it's a splash shield. Love the moonroof in my GMC too!
It identifies as a skid plate! lol
