Thanks bud, gonna try this on my 2010, I’m assuming it’s the shifter because I have to more or less wiggle it for reverse but the rest of my gears work good , I already had my transmission fixed so I assumed it wasn’t the problem with gears like it was before
Does the car need to be on jack stands to do this type of job as im concerned that movement of gears such as neutral would have my car rolling back. What do you recommend for doing this at home all tires off the ground? Thanks

Don't you need to both remove and install the shifter Both in the same gear such as Neutral so the linkage is the same and lined up? Seems like you took out in Park but installed in Neutral.

So even if the car is off I’m able to move it to every gear

My 2012 Mustang is a little different on the shifter linkage underneath the car, it is round not square.
Now where could u find a new console Like the piece u have to take off to take the gear shifter out ?

That's what I'm wondering to not confuse or mess it up to leave it on the park or neutral from the beginning then reinstall

Should you leave in PARK when starting replacement? I notice when you were removing the shifter it was no longer in the PARK position.
Its best if the car is in neutral the whole installation process i think.
i did the entire job while it was in park, don't understand why it has to be in neutral. it replaces the same way.
