My husky was banned from obedience classes because she talked so much and so loudly the instructor couldn’t be heard by the other dogs and their owners.
Boy does that bring back memories. When people asked me about my huskies, I would tell them they are not for everyone, they're a breed you must be prepared for. They will out smart you if they even get an inkling that they can. They are a very smart breed.

My last husky was an escape artist. "Oh...I see you locked me in my kennel again. Don't worry, after you leave I'll just let myself out like I did the last couple of times." He'd grab the door with his paws and pull on it until the wire door would bend in half and pop the lock mechanism. He broke 3 kennel doors. What a stinker. I miss that guy everyday.
Oh, lord, the pain an escape artist can cause. Mine was a big mutt who I was terrified to let outside. He could climb our 6 foot fence with ease, and he was always after the sheep in our area. In spite of our best efforts, and those of his trainer, he escaped one too many times. RIP Bouncer.
I had a husky for 10 yrs. I miss him because he was a character! They talk, have attitudes, are lovable but they need a lot of exercise! They want to run and if it is snowing and cold getting them in the house can be frustrating! It is easy to brush out enough hair to make another dog in the spring.

Huskies are just amazing, but not for people who feel the need to rule , they are free spirits, they are intelligent , they have a mind of their own , I'm really not sure which of us is the well trained one ,and i don't really care , he takes me everywhere and it's the most amazing fun

My husky cross German shepherd was such a clever dog! He learnt a trick in only one lesson. We could read each other's minds. He had cancer and had to let him go! He was an amazing dog! I miss him every day!😢

Huskies have by far the biggest personalities of any dog I’ve ever owned. They have to be right next to you and the center of attention. Couldn’t own any other breed of dog at this point.

Precisely, which is why I feel bad for mine. Live in Texas which hot weather is brutal to huskies if out too long. But inside, we keep it cold as Hell for him.
My Husky/Whippet mix Izzy passed away in September. She was a character. Cried like crazy at bath time but had no ptoblem playing in the rain. She was very talkative and would give you the craziest looks. I got her as a rescue and was suprised to find she was already potty trained. She was such a good girl I wondered how she ended up at a rescue shelter. Had her for 8 years. Been almost a year since she been gone and I still miss her.
Our Whoodle had surgery for a luxating patella. When he came out of surgery, they were carrying him, and the nurse said he’s not a brave boy. He was a drama queen for sure. He was on heavy pain killers and we babied him for several weeks until he was cleared by the doctor to get back to normal. Gotta love ‘em.
I do hope people who own Huskies know that they are breed for AND LOVE the colder weather! Keep’m cool and pamper them in the hot weather. Cheers beautiful good pet owners!!!! ❤😊❤
I have noticed people can understand the need for cold in some breeds but don’t understand that some breeds love the heat. My Australian cattle dog is happiest when it is roasting hot but people think I am abusing him taking him out in the summer. He has his own space heater in the winter.
The best "toy" for a Husky is a "running-wheel" They love it because most of them hust don't get enough exercise. What's not nearly enough for them, will make us humans drop down exhausted.
My son begged for a husky. We went to a shelter after losing our two dogs from before he was born and they specialize in rescuing from puppy mills so of course he picks out one of the solid white husky pups with most beautiful blue eyes. She was perfect and on the way to the play pen signing the papers I saw border collies and fell in love with a boy. Our previous dogs were a mini Aussie and jack russel so here we are 2 yrs later with our border collie and husky. Ppl say border collies are the most intelligent pups but I don’t know about that after seeing how our girl is a pro escape artist…and the attitude? Sassy little things ❤

My mini schnauzer has similar attitudes. He wants to walk me. He’s 11 and still contends for power even though he confuses himself with his slight tendency to want to please. Thank God for that.

It's true, they can be quite the challenge. But if you're up for it, there's no better feeling than bonding with a Husky. They're loyal, loving, and full of personality.
@dheyes803 Actually, I don't like them in other people's homes. Twice I've had neighbors with huskies, and they howled constantly. I think they take a commitment to loads of exercise and engagement, and most people just can't do that. Now that I'm retired but still active, I'd consider adopting one or two, but I'd for sure book training sessions from day one.

The husky jumping into the canal reminded me of my 125lb Long Haired Shepherd, Max. He would break ice to swim. In the presence of water his name became “Max, NOOOO!”
I stayed with my nieces and their beautiful husky. While I was battling breast cancer. She was wonderful. We kept the apartment very clean. But once she's alone. She hid socks and dig in garbage. Tore everything up. But I love her ❤❤❤
I was out walking once. A HUGE husky and a german shepherd mix mutt were playing together. As I got closer, the husky began to stroll over to me. When the husky saw my fear and my taking of a defensive poster, he started barking and charging at me, always pulling up short, then circling me before doing it again. Scary. After a half a minute or so of this, I realized the husky was messing with me. So I relaxed and just stood there. The husky looked at me with disappointment as he realized I was on to his game. He then, I swear. laughed at me before proudly prancing away. Smart dogs huskies are.
Huskies are alpha dogs. Huskies need a lot of proper training, socialization, attention, exercise, kindness, and good care or they can become frustrated and destructive. A good idea would be to put a doggie treadmill in the backyard. Or take them to dog parks. I absolutely love huskies. Huskies are hilarious. I love their drama and sass. Huskies are sweet and they are loves. However, they are not for people who cannot understand them. Huskies must basically be in charge. Huskies are bred to pull sleds and be guard dogs. The way to train them is to learn to speak their language; respect them; be patient, firm, and fair. Huskies are very smart. You often have to negotiate with them. If all that is too much you probably want to choose another breed of dog.
