Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with me. I am so happy that you're enjoying it and I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me. Every time I hear/read feedback like this, it makes my day.
hi cris, I know this video is many years old now. I just wanted to let you know that I recently bought an aria & it's by far my favourite ocarina shape that I've played,. I love the long tapered tail. thank you for your thoughtful & beautiful design!
I just received my aria ocarina in the mail today! I found this video not knowing that you were the one who designed it, but your overview really helps me understand my new instrument. This is the first instrument I'll have ever learned to play, so I hope I can improve with the help of your ocarina. Thanks!
Awesome! I hope you're still playing the ocarina! If not, I just released my method book and it might help get you back into the swing of things. Let me know :)
This is my first ceramic ocarina (the first one I had is a plastic soprano, also from STL) and I must say this ocarina is a piece of art. The color makes it very beautiful, and the ergonomics make it easy to play. I must say that this ocarina is great and thank you for designing it :)
I'm glad you're considering it. Other colors may appear at some point, but right now there's just the matte black and green and black AC and the black and red soprano G.
I absolutely love STL's ocarinas. You seem to have something that will suit almost anyone, and they create such beautiful tones. I already have the 12 hole Zelda tenor, but I eventually want to get this Aria along with the mini purple clay soprano. It kind of stole my heart =) Thank you for the overview, you play beautifully!
I got one of these for my birthday! I love the the green stripes... I also like ocarinas in the key of Alto/Tenor C and lower, since that pitch range is easier on my ears 😉
Hi cris, just wanted to say thank you for the tips on how to perform the higher notes. I got my first ocarina (the aria) at Christmas and I absolutely love it. It he tips really help so thank you!!! ^_^
I just bought a matte black tenor and I love it! This is my first ceramic transverse ocarina and I love the sound of it. I'm used to playing a plastic soprano so there are some differences that I'll have to get used to but overall I'm really happy with it!
Very nice ocarina--you might even tempt me to start playing transverse! It would definitely work for my oversized hands. Very fine playing too. By the way, that first Irish tune is "Road to Lisdoonvarna." Sounds really fine.
I think you should be fine :) Just be sure to practice the higher notes over a soft surface. Don't forget, there is also the Aria Alto G, which has the same shape but is a little smaller.
The aria is an amazing ocarina. It's so easy to play and since its my first one too i know how you feel. Sorry I couldn't formally reply because iPads don't allow it...
Compliments! In order of importance IMHO: - design of the ocarina. Seems not only good looking, but also designed with the right considerations of ergonomy and sound; - the review is well structured, with the right level of details for advanced players, but not too scary for the beginners; - despite being a product you have designed, the review looks objective without a trace of advertisement or something... - aside of the lighting of the video, the oufit which fits the ocarina and some other small details are a nice touch; Your playing skills are out of question anyway.
I'm thinking of saving up for this ocarina; the green/brown one looks awesome! (But it'll probably be a while cos I'm broke now xD) I like the longer, more thin shape of the aria; I'm still a beginner, and my current ocarina is pretty round; I still struggle a bit with the sub-holes on the quicker notes. (I have small, medium-ish hands with very long fingers) Though I'm thinking I just need more practice xD Anyways, if I end up getting one, I'll definitely come back and comment!
If you like ocarinas as much as I do, then you'll probably like both of them close to equal. I know this comment is old, but sometimes I find no one has replied and chip in myself 🙂
I know you might not have been expecting me to reply because I'm not the person that made the video, but I'm into ocarinas almost as much as some of the big names on youtube in the scene
Dunno if this is way too late for a response, especially with your channel being inactive for over a year, but.. How are the hole sizes compared to the Echo Tenor? I managed to get my hands on one as a gift but sadly my fingers are actually too small to cover the holes. And covering the subholes is outright impossible. I want to have around a Tenor to Alto range, but still being to actually cover the holes with my fingers.
Sorry, I just saw this. The holes are about the same size on most ocarinas, but if I recall correctly, the echo's holes were a bit bigger. Do you have any other ocarinas?
Cris Gale I actually already got the Aria. It's a perfect fit and my fingers don't fall into it like the Echo. I also have to cut my nails specifically to play the echo.
Wonderful design! The Aria is one of my favorite ocarinas.
Fantastic job! About to order my first ocarina.
The ARIA caught my eye and I’m so glad you made this!! Can’t wait to start playing

Thank you so much for the nice comment. I'm glad you like my videos and I hope you enjoy the Aria!
Just bought one last week, waiting for it to come in. Very excited! A long time ago I played bari sax.

Thanks so much! This made my day😊
I was actually considering buying an ocarina! Definitely gonna look into this one. Thanks for the review, girl c:
I'm happy you're enjoying it and that the tips helped :) Anytime you need help, feel free to comment here or via message or email.
I just received this ocarina earlier today and I am loving it! The look, feel, weight and sound is amazing :) Thanks Cris!

Very cool overview! I like that this is very thorough and that you touched on how you designed it :) It's my favourite as well. Ocs to you, Cris! ^.^
That is so cool that you design it. I don't usually buy from STL but for this I will.
Thanks! If I end up getting one, I'll be sure to let you know!
Can you get these ocarinas now (December 2020)?
Sure. They're available here: www.stlocarina.com/collections/classic-12-hole-ocarinas/products/12-hole-tenor-ocarina-aria-2-colors-available

This review was very informative and well done!
I'd also order one - if there were in stock of the solid black version.

I cant seem to get mine to play at the right note. Its so deep sounding

I like lower pitches, so I go for ocarinas in Alto/Tenor C or lower
Great review! Thanks for the tutorial for the high notes as well, I cannot wait to get this :)
I can see you went for the Flame Red 3DS. Great choice! Oh, and I really liked the video, too ;)
I hope so :)

Sorry for the late reply - Thank you!!! I appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective :)
I'm so hesitant on buying from STL. I keep hearing bad things. But this ocarina is so tempting.
14:20 that melody you're playing there, does it have a name? Also anyone know where to get the tabs for it? It sounds awesome.
could you someday make a new coat for the aria? maybe even a black with bright blue stripes? please?
Darn now I gotta save up for this one too
Fantastic playing, Cris. Also, a thorough review.
I'm waiting for the keyed version. lol Any spoilers as to when it might be available?
what about black and red alto C?

Very nice ocarina! :) I have a blue 3DS.
I hate to say it but it kind of shows you havent done a review in a while, lol.
Still nice though, and the ocarina looks amazing.

I started around a similar age. :D

Awesome! So glad it worked out! The Echo's holes are a bit beveled, which can cause issue for sure!
How much does this cost?
where did you get the name "aria"?
$80 :)
