The first time I heard the Ashford & Simpson instrumental version I literally played it non stop 5 or 6 times, Its one of the best things I have ever heard in the whole 41 years of my life.
Is there a version where Ashford & Simpson sing? I only see instrumentals.

@Bruhman420 Oh, I do know it. Although, I have a soft spot for Venice Beach. The song has some Acid Jazz influences. It hits the spot every time I hear it. I like his little flamenco touches.
I was always a fan of Ronny Jordan. He makes jazz a little sexy. My favorites are, The Jackal, No Pay No Play, and Come With Me.
Wow, I just discovered this version myself. The only version I knew of was Ashford & Simpson when I was about 10 years old and have loved that version to this day. This was a great find. I'm finding out there were a lot of songs back then that were shared by different well known artists, they would just put a different spin on their version. But also, Ashford & Simpson did a lot of writing back then for different artists. The things you discover on RUclips....👍🏽
@@gerardmcmillan8591, I'm not sure if you remember their original composition Over & Over. It had very little notice until Sylvester did his epic version in 1977. Have a listen to the Ashford & Simpson version, then compare it to Sylvester's almost 10-minute thumping gospel stomp.
